The only use for him I see is as a training cone
I hope you like training cones because he is getting more minutes than DVB, or any of our young players this year. Probably in the squad after the West Ham game. Will be getting lots of 20 minutes off the bench and some starts

Don't, I can't deal with that thought tonight.

He was under no pressure!

Zero pressure, 95th minute ... and he does this!...

Unless Jesse decides to sign that contract right now, in which case it might be less

He should have been shipped out long ago.

But seeing as he's still here. That tonight should be the final nail.

I think he’s a probably a very decent technical footballer. Decent physically as in he keeps going, decent effort and the enthusiasm of a child. I just don’t think he’s smart, brave or aggressive enough to play at a really top club.

Glad that kind of happened.

I don't hate him but Ole has started to use him too much - nearly every game if I'm right.

Hopefully that stops now.

He will leave at the end of the season anyway if he doesnt play much. Stick him to the reserves

For the sake of our club, let’s just hope it’s not for long.
Look if the rumours are true and he's given the club an ultimatum that he either plays more or he won't commit to the the club then I'd lean towards loaning him to the Championship or just not playing him.

But neither of us make that decision, so while he's still here and playing we're obviously going to discuss the good and bad of his performances.

Listening to Ole's post match interviews it doesn't seem like it will, add in Ole's reaction to his goal against Newcastle I think the road of redemption will be offered.

Ole shouldn't be taking Fred off and ending up with Lingard back there but I fear if Ole is going to give him regular appearances like he did for a whole year when we failed we'll fail again.. Keep playing mediocre players and you'll end up out of top 4 like the last time with Pereira and so on. I pray to god Jesse can indeed contribute positively.

Once Rashford and Cavani return, Lingard should never see a minute of CL football.

Again and this cannot be stressed enough. Ole will not throw his players under the bush

One goal against an already beaten Newcastle and somehow his stock has gone through the roof. Please remember how poor this guy has been for us and the numerous chances he gets to continue being poor. He needs to go
No, I am not a knee-jerk type of person with my opinions thank you. Everyone has this type of mistake in them. I can recall many of our good players doing similar. I will continue to think of Jessie as a good player.

If saf was around he would gotten the hair dryer treatment and a flying boot. Then again if saf was around lingard would have shipped out a while back.

I was hoping he'd be sold in the summer and I don't think he should get another contract, he's had more than enough chances. The mistake tonight was incredibly careless from an experienced player but shouldn't distract from the utterly clueless coaching issues on display.

That was actually a sensible substitution. Which should have happened much earlier. The madness occurred when Martial came on to play up top and Lingard took Fred’s place. That cost us the game.
Was it? Surely we needed someone who could play with their back to goal to hold the ball up and win some fouls?

I'm not sure what Lingard's "energy" was meant to bring when he'd be pressing on his own up front while the rest of his team mates were camped on the edge of their own box.

I feel like Ole just wanted to try something. Make a sub for the sake of making a sub, fresh legs and all that. And Lingard coming on was a reward for his goal at the weekend with no consideration for the fact he's never played as a lone striker in his life. And then subbing off Fred was again making a sub for the sake of making a sub.

He is not the smartest footballer. During 70th or 75th minute when he got the ball with no pressure he just kicked it towards the opposition half when in fact he could have passed it to Pogba. Then in the final minutes when he should have actually cleared it like he did 20 minutes ago he chose to play safeim dying moments and pass it backwards. I mean how can one be this dumb. Always felt he is not good enough for this club and today just confirms it.

That’s what I was saying above. I think he’s technically pretty good as he should be with his experience. He’s just not aggressive or smart enough to ever be worth the kind of money or minutes he wants. He’s branded himself to the point where some might be fooled into thinking he’s worth big money but he’s definitely peaked and its been fine but he’s not going to get any better or change his game. It’s just JLingz a nice young fella who should be playing at mid table club, not in the CL.

I don’t want to see Ole publicly admonish Lingard, but my God what a fukking disastrous mistake it was. It’s one thing to miss an open teammate in the box or scuff a sitter wide but it’s quite another thing to pull out this shit.

Ole needs to sit Lingard for the next 2-3 matches at the very least. No public explanation. His action will do all the talking.

And can we please withdraw the contract extension offer (if I have it correctly) and let Lingard go fukk off on a free if that’s what he wants?

The issue is we are stuck with him now. He should have been binned this summer. His stock will never rise the way it did when he was banginf for westham. I bet Chelsea would have sold him but with us we just keep hold of players because he came from academy. Now we are in a position where we can't just put him in reserves as that would just have a sad player with the squad and nor does he deserve to get any minutes considering he may leave for free anyways.

Always felt he could have been a decent footballer for us had he just kept his feet on the ground after his decent 2017-18 season. He went to WC, played decent but then he started acting like he was some big shot, to an extent I was worried that Rashford was just spending too much time with this man child. Even right now I can imagine he would be more interested in getting more clicks for his insta account by clicking some pics with ronaldo. If he was really ambitious and cared primarily about his football he would have demanded to be sold.

Apparently turned down west ham to 'fight for his place' (eg play with his idol). Not much we can do if he'd rather run down his contract. I don't believe the club stood in his way if there were offers, like James.

I would rather see the likes of Elanga and Mejbri than him. The last player who I felt disgruntled when I saw playing for United was Fellaini but looking back Fellaini did a lot better than Lingard. Whenever I see Lingard play I am like "not again". I don't hate him and will never abuse him but really don't want us to waste minutes on him.

Correct me if im wrong but they reacted more or less immediately by taking off a defender and putting on an attacking midfielder? Sulejmani or something. Do you think they'd have done that with Ronaldo up front?
Subbing Ronaldo for Lingard is never sensible. Bringing on Matic was sensible and should have happened earlier, or they could have left the entirely functional midfield we had for the first 45 intact instead of switching to a 513.
