Have we replaced Antonio Valencia with another incredibly one footed right back. There were so many times that if he just shifted the ball to his left he could have played more forward passes.

I thought he was okay.
He was much, much better going forward, but defensively he's been giving players too much space on his side.
He doesn't ever seem to close them down when they're going for a shot or a cross.

Had a 10 minute stretch after we conceded where Bruno and him were our best players, he was actually taking people on and hitting some nice one-touch passes into space. Was solid overall but as usual moved the ball far too slowly and always prioritizes retaining possession over anything else. Thought he was lucky to not give away a pen, that was a very weird challenge

For me Shaw's side is much worse defensively.

Crosses coming in. Maguires mistakes. Shaw sometimes too deep almost as a CB etc.

He was very good today. Moving the ball around and passing more than ever, and he actually seemed to know who was behind him when defending.

Tough start of the season from him, but he already saved De Gea's arse vs Wolves with a slide.

The whole team looks nervous in the 1st half and it's also not helping him reach good match rhythm.

The funny thing is that occasionally he pulls out these inspired bits of attacking play that make you wonder if his limitations are mostly mental. That moment where he perfectly controlled on his chest, scooped the ball between two players and was through into their box out of nowhere - I thought I was watching Pogba!

He was lucky with that tackle inside the box today. That was horrible.

He looked a small bit lackluster today. Looked like he was Dragging his body up and down the pitch without any intensity. Maybe he's fecking knackered. He needs a rest. Had a good game overall tbf.

Really awkward on the ball today and didn't offer enough to support the attack, there's a big gulf between him and Shaw.

Needs to over so much more on the ball. He gets into decent areas and gets given space but too often stops and passes back or sideways.

Was pretty good today..good on ball and was always aware of his surroundings while defending.

I think that it could have easily been a penalty. Other than that, he was ok, even tried to attack occasionally.

He's second priority for an upgrade, after DM, in my opinion. He wasn't awful, but he doesn't offer enough.

There's always one...
Always one with what? Can I not say that’s he’s a liability? He is a really bad player. I can’t remember the last time we had a worse full back.. not discounting old men like Valencia. Care to prove me otherwise? Otherwise, pipe down.

Weird thread today this…

im his biggest critic, but for me that was his best game in a long long time.

much better going forwards. Looked a lot calmer and more confident on the ball.

but I’ll wait to see it happen consistently before getting too excited.

Pipe down? In a game where he was decent (had an important block too) you decided to go off as though he was as bad or worse than in midweek. I was going to leave it as I was only needling you but don't tell me to pipe down.

Didn't know he's pretty slow as well. Lost the race against Rice (when even the latter was carrying the ball).

Well he couldn’t have been worse considering he was sent off. He was average today. He had like two first time flick ons which were surprising.. key word ‘surprising’.

He still offered us nothing offensively and if you watch the game and compare him to Shaw — Shaws movement is night and day compared to AWB. And Shaw was considered to have a quiet game today. So you’re fecking right I’m going to be snarky as hell when you’re the one had the temerity to label me as ‘always one’.

I’m enjoying the win. I’d have taken the draw. This gives us more confidence and we just look a bit more resilient than we did last season which is great to see but that doesn’t mean I can’t call a spade a spade. If that challenge went against AWB in the box, it would not have been overruled. So yeah, there’s always one…

Shaw was caught out of position a few times and his crossing was a bit weak today but we won't highlight that as he's so good currently, but AWB? Get I'm! You're proving my point here but listen, if you want to cry and have an unnecessary argument with someone about AWB after this game, go find someone else.

 You've even brought that same energy to the "Is it safe.." thread. The one that's supposed to be the sanctuary from agenda posting?

I’m not crying like.. I don’t like AWB. I have been banging that drum for a a long time. A win today won’t change that. Shaw was still better than him today in terms of positions that he took up offensively which is my main gripe with AWB. Again, he had a distinctly average game and people are saying that it was a good performance. Nah.

And look at my posting history @afrocentricity Im not a negative Nelly and I want all of our players to succeed but I don’t believe in some. AWB and Martial. Otherwise I just want us smashing everyone and proving everyone wrong but with those two I just don’t see it for two completely different reasons.

Also I apologise for being a dick earlier.

Better today. Showed something nice on the ball but only crossed once to the box.

I’d love him to turn into Alves. feck I’d be over the moon if he turned into Neville but he’s nowhere near that level.
