I don't really think he will but if he does what will that say about us that a player can play for us then go away for twelve years to another club come back and still be our all time top scorer

A small mentality team who when they win against small teams, their manager and his staff go to the pitch like they won the WC.

It would mean that one of the all time best players in the world played with United for 9-11 years and became our top scorer. Not exactly a big deal.

It won’t say anything about us.

He spent 6 years with us in his first stint at the club and it will require at least another 3 seasons to reach the record taking him to 9 years.

He holds the Real Madrid all time scoring record and took that record at the start of his 7th season at the club.

I can't see him breaking 200 to be honest. I just don't think he will have enough games over the next few years.

Would love to be proved wrong.

Will be an interesting one when he passes his own manager in the list!

At this rate that shouldn't be that hard for him tbh. Especially if he extends for a third season.

Breaking Rooney's goal record is a different story though

Genuinely think he’ll do it. If he’s like 50 goals away, you think he’ll stop?

Ruud hadn't fecked his cruciate and stayed a couple years, he might have set the bar.

I think he will get around 18 goals this season and 15 next season.

These are minimums and taking into account Ole resting him at various periods

I see him here for 2 years, maybe 3 at a push so he'll be around 50 goals short.

He's certainly still capable of racking up the goals in hat-tricks but we shouldn't be overplaying him in various cup matches. If he gets close in 3 years like 220+ that would be incredible to still average that amount at 37-38.

At Juve he got 101 goals in 134 games in 3 years, he still seems good enough to average a goal per game, 4 in 3 so far and did that in his later Madrid years. The quality we have should ensure a good roll but how much he can retain this phenomenal level is unknown in his late 30s and how he sees his retirement, 3-4 years he could take it, such a clever player and striker.

He’ll be on 18 goals before January.

Seems amazing that Mata has that many goals, and especially that he has more than Pogba.

It feels like he's been a glorified mascot this last few years, and it'll only be games like midweek where we remember he's still on our books!

Realistically he could probably reach 5th place if he stays for at least three seasons and doesn't have a noticeable drop in form of injuries. Anything above that seems unlikely just due to age and number of games. Then again it is Ronaldo so you never know.

I think if he can reach 200 goals for United that's an amazing achievement

Approaching 8 years at the club so he's only averaging 6 goals per season. 7 penalties. A couple of purple patches during the LVG days where he went on scoring runs. 50 sounds about right.

But he's barely been near the pitch for what feels like abut 4 years now.

There was a poster on here who said he'd get 6 to 8 open play goals the entire season.
