Oles not injured. That’s my beef. How can he be sitting on the bench ‘rinsing’ money if he’s actually had a career threatening injury and doing his best to make a comeback from that. I wish they’d sometimes read the facts before going all keyboard warrior
We’re not leaving him on the battlefield though are we…. It’s like these injuries are life threatening and we’re talking about dumping him outside of A&E at 3 in the morning.

Don’t you allow a smidge of room for frustration amongst the fan base on this one? Not so much as a sausage. Edit: I mean in comparison to the manager who everybody has free reign to hammer daily.

I have no personal beef with Jones, he’s actually the type of blood and thunder player I can get behind but it’s almost 2022… I’ve had three kids and two house moves since I’ve last seen him kick a ball GB.

Ever since Rio attacked Jones publically, it seems you can't look anywhere now without Phil Jones articles everywhere.

The guy has done nothing for 2 years, people get injured all the time and it now seems he is playing one hell of a media game, especially as he is unable to physically play a real game any longer.

Sorry, but United giving him a new contract was an absolute farce.

I’m all for frustration if the lad is fit and playing sh1t. But this have a go at someone when they are out injured for nearly 2 years with a career threatening injury.. I’m not ok with that. I think it’s classless to kick one of our players when he’s down.

btw I’d have a word with the missus about your three kids because your maths are off. He last played in jan 2020.

The feck happened in here? Can someone summarise, please?
Phil talked about his injury struggles for the last 2 years, he talked about the shame he felt because he wasn't doing anything and how he couldn't look his team-mates in the eye.
He called the internet trolls who have harrassed him a bunch of basement dwelling pot noodle eaters, now there's people who think he shouldn't be opening his mouth.

Not life threatening sure, but it's not an appendix removal either.

Everyone agrees on the bolded, but what's done is done. I think he decided to speak out because there's light at the end of the tunnel for him, so it's easier for him to open up.

So you expect us to not honor his contract and bully him into giving up his remaining salary, or ... what exactly do you propose we do?

It's so, so common for clubs to do the classy thing and guide players for their rehab then end up making a loss on them. Happened to Van Ginkel at Chelsea, but I'm sure Inter is not going to terminate Eriksen's contract either.

Right, thanks! Don't see anything worthy of such a meltdown going by your summary.

Answer this carefully before you proceed… do you like Pot Noodles?

Jones has put those who do in a box, a box in a basement, the basement of your mothers house where you shall remain a loser.

That would include the people messaging his wife on social media saying they hope she dies and that bad things happen to their kids.
I was responding to someone else who intentionally misinterpreted a post I made. You interjection is going even further away from what I said.

But if you really want to discuss how Phil Jones' wife responds to online trolls then she has two choices: ignore the trolls or engaged with the trolls. I know what I'd do.

You said he should laugh off the trolls, Gary. Phil Jones left social media a long time ago. Do you genuinely think it's fair for people who are mad at the club for giving him a new contract to seek her out and tell her they hope she dies?

Do you think she deserves that because of who she is married to, Gary?

Koka Or Super?
Koka are decent and I’ll assume for your sake that super noodles is a joke and not an actual serious suggestion.

:( I had one after reading this thread
And you should rightfully be embarrassed about it.

There is no reason to be eating trash noodles when loads of brands like Mama, Nongshim, indomie, nissin etc or cheap fresh noodles like udon.

Phil Jones cried because someone called him sh*t in the street and he didn't know whether to confront them or not.

Phil, you're made of glass, just limp away, wipe your tears and enjoy the free money.

At no point in 2019 is Phil Jones, ever, EVER the first choice CB for MUFC. I'd go so far as to say he has never been first choice CB at his time at the club.
As you have proven many times, you speak out of your a$$. Check the facts first before you make claims.

I was simply taking the mickey outta all of his recent media spin his PR team are doing since Riogate.

He should have simply stayed quiet and actually got himself playing regularly again and proven doubters wrong.

All he has done has added more pressure to his current situation, he is trying to defend.

No I would 100% expect the club to do the right thing during an existing contract.
He was a first team regular when he was given this contract. 27 years old, just been at a World Cup with England, new manager is in and we're winning basically every game, and Jones is playing the full 90 in the bulk of them.

Was it perhaps a bit rash? Yes. However, people are acting like the club approached him 6 months into an injury lay off with it.

Have to say, and I defer to a more informed opinion, but I thought he was far from a regular first team player when the new contract was wafted under his ever eager nose.

Phil Jones doesn't have a PR person, never mind a team. He's barely a footballer at this stage...and even when he was, it's not like brands were lining up to throw money at him. They weren't even scattering money in his general direction.

Also, no PR exec in the world would let the Pot Noodle paragraph go out.

Yeah.

Although McDonnells curry super noodle sandwiches have been consumed at 3 or 4 in the morning when the chinese was closed. I have a recollection of someone straining excess liquid from them one night and then scraping the escaped noodles back into the pot from the sink.

He was quite literally playing basically every game.

I don't disagree that the club acted a bit rashly with the contract (mainly length) given Jones' injury history, but it is fact that he was playing almost every game for a good dozen plus games, over a period of multiple months, when the contract was signed.

People had totally forgotten about Jones until recently. The only reason people are arguing so much about this is because Rio's comments were blown way out of proportion, as usual.

I'll also be honest with my thoughts on Jones - he has a big blame for his injury problems. He was always too reckless, he never matured his style of defending and using his bravery and aggression in the right moments. I think Bailly is almost the exact same example and is showing similar proneness to injuries.

So I don't think portraying Jones as incredibly unlucky is a fair assessment of his Manchester United career. The fact that the club gave him such a big contract, knowing the condition of his knee, it makes no sense. The whole story made no sense to me, why would the club allow a player to play with a permanently injured knee for years?

Very few were happy with the renewal though were they, they've been proven right on this occasion, hard to disagree with that.

Just noticed, you hail from Barrybados?

I like pot noodles. The Bombay Hot Pot especially, but I don't mind the chicken and mushroom one, had that last night.

Mama do some nice chilli kimchi ones too, but my kids like them, so they always disappear before I get a chance to eat them.

I don't troll, or live in my mum's spare room, so how much am I supposed to be offended? 1/3? What if I troll a little bit? Does each trolling have a specific amount of offence or does the degree of trolling matter?

On another note, this thread keeps making me think of the picture of the Liverpool fan who's hair looked like pot noodles. I think it was in an old RAWK goes into meltdown thread.

Maybe my memory is indeed failing me but I could have swore that Jones & smalling formed a first team partnership at some stages
I am not sure. I think under LVG it was initially Mike and Rojo, then Mike and Blind. In Mourinho’s first season it was Mike and Bailly, and then after Bailly’s injury it was Blind playing there. Then it was mostly alternating between Bailly, Smalling and Lindelof. Then Ole came, and he played several combinations until he signed Maguire, sold Smalling and settled with Maguire and Lindelof.

Jones played many games but he was not a first choice (for an entire season) CB ever here. Partially because of his injuries, and partially because he was never good enough.

He's been the butt of every joke for fecking years and he deserves to mug a few cnuts off. It's literal cyber bullying yet he should just take it because he's a footballer. It must be emotionally exhausting to be injured constantly and not able to do what you love whilst also being abused on a daily basis.

I really feel for Jones, had a lot of talent and due to injuries was unable to reach his potential. I understand people being upset that his contract got extended when it did, but at the end of the day I'm happy the club are looking after him especially if he was in a dark place for a period. At the end of the day you can have all the money in the world and still have mental health issues, he's human after all. Some of his prior comments about refusing a testimonial because he felt he didnt deserve it, stuck with me and I'm glad the club decided to support him instead of just dumping him.
