I am out of the loop, but I just realized that Martial just seems to have vanished over the last half year, it's like he fell off the edge of the world. What happened?
Really, really poor form. He lost his goal scoring touch and seems slow and heavy. Hopefully he gets back to his best this season

He will not get back to his best. Martial never improved when he had competition so I would not bet on him fighting for his position now and even worse when Cavani and Rashford are out.

As usual, his camps will leaks things in the media, and he will want to find a new club next summer.

That s his mentality.

Can't get more than five minutes per game with Cavani and Rashford out. He desperately needs a start and a few goals if he is going to kick on some time this season.

Sounds like he needs a new Club to be honest.

He must be starting midweek surely?
Now there is real competition for a starting spot all along the frontline every attacking player needs to really stake a claim when the opportunity arises.

Looks like his days are really numbered here, which is a real shame. Such a talent.

Contrary to belief here, I think he'll stay. Especially if Ronaldo has a good season and stays on for next year.

Firstly, I think he'll get games because Ronaldo cannot and will not be starting every game. Also, Cavani's fitness record is iffy at best and Rashford will play where he always plays; the left wing. Secondly, the player to leave in the summer will be Cavani who's contract expires. While Ronaldo is here, I don't see us splashing big on another striker like say Haaland. Because it's not needed, it will cause too much competition up top and probably even hamper the development of mercurial talents like Greenwood by restricting their playing time. The latter I expect to keep playing on the right for the foreseeable, especially while Ronaldo remains here.

So unless someone comes in and pays a lot to us and to him to take him off our hands, I expect him to go into next season as our second striker behind CR7. Fingers crossed he'll also find some form and prove useful to us this season.

He will stay because there is going to be noone willing to pay him 180k +bonuses. Has been genuinely poor for a long time, and has had injuries. I still don't see him returning to "world class" as some people think, if he was able to stake a place on the left wing consistently then he might get game time and a chance to get back to his best, but thats not going to be at all easy. The issue is even in those France games and the odd good cameo, he seems to have lost the things he always relied on, pace, dribbling and cool finishes. He is going to be with us for a while, he doesnt seem like the kind of player who would go out on loan, nor the kind of player who will push for a move to reinvigorate his career. Will probably get into his last year of contract and get offered 200k a week based on our boards policy though.

Like with almost everything from the LVG era - big excitement in the start and the end feels like an anchor around the neck that'll never end. For both the person and fans.

That's the only downturn of Cristiano's late arrival. If we had known that he was available 15 days ago before the end of the window, I think we would have sold, or at least loaned Martial. He is wasting his career here - and honestly he is wasting our recources. I was an avid Martial FC, but seeing a 19 years old Greenwood and a 34 years old Cavani overshadowing him, says alot about him.

When was he "world class?"
I agree he has evolved to a less exciting players. I miss the aggressive Martial

Should have sold him ages ago.

Hopefully we can get a semi decent fee for him in the summer.

With so many attacking options - I can't see him getting some significant minutes.
maybe only on the Carbao cup if Edi wouldn't be fit to play by then

I am not sure, plenty of the Red Cafe seem to think he is, you could maybe argue in that 19/20 season he was on the cusp of it.

This is as far as I'd go, I really thought he'd kick on last season after his excellent campaign the year before. I'm still hopeful that he'll return to form but it's not looking good for him right now.

If he isn't good enough to start and does nothing from the bench, it's not really a shame that his days are numbered. You're either good enough or you're not. He doesn't seem to have the mindset required to consistently be a top player. Splashes of greatness from a waterfall of mediocrity.

His season was akin to one of Harry Kane's worst season. Certainly not a WC one
It wasn't a WC season for sure, but it was very good one.

People forget that most players at the top of the charts are penalty takers which pads their stats. Certainly the case for Kane, Salah, Auba, Vardy and some others. In 19/20 Martial had more non-penalty goals than Kane (both as nominal and per 90) and more assists (7 to Kane's 2). He was also out for about a quarter of the season with an injury and clocked only ~2600 minutes out of 3450. At the end of the season I think he had the best mins/goal and mins/goal contribution ratios if penos were taken out.

Again, not world class by any means. But he gave hope that he might have finally blossomed into the player we knew he could be. Short lived sadly

- Manchester United officials have given Anthony Martial’s representatives the green light to look for a new club and it is believed he is open to staying in the Premier League.

Atletico Madrid showed some interest before while there is a possibility Barcelona would look at him next year but he’d be allowed to move on in January if a fair offer lands. United are seeking around £40m for him.

Seems more plausible now but I'm not placing much faith in that source.

Hoping Tony returns to form but looks increasingly like his time is running out. A shame, think he has all the talent in the world. What happened to that post-lockdown form? A shadow of the player he was.

When I see him in the lineup I just don't have faith he will score anymore. I used to be a big fan, but it's just not working anymore

Ole needs to give up on this idea he’s a #9. Utterly useless, doesn’t make any runs that are expected from a striker & the lack of effort is so annoying. Time to get rid.

Sell in Jan. This guy doesn't want to play for us anymore. A statue would have moved more today.

Just never play him again, rather give his minutes to Hugill or McNeil even.

I'd say play him in the u23s until he learns how to attack the ball, but I watch the u23s and would like us to actually win some of the games.

Get rid. Done with this guy. Zero effort and he’s had plenty of time to prove himself.

Surely enough is enough with this guy. He doesn't want it, was this the display of a man that has competition and is trying to get back into the side?

He wasn't the only one to throw in a poor performance but you expect a lot more from your number 9.

He's just a nothing player now. All theoretical talent.

His mentality doesn't live up to his natural talent.
I think this will be his last season here, he needs a move and we need to shift a body.

Yeah he's turned into such a nothing player. Sad given how exciting he was when he first came here.

If he moved like a striker he would have had a goal
Instead he's a mannequin

He is so bad these days. Zero goal threat. He may as well play in midfield.

He isn’t a striker. Watching Ronaldo and Cavani’s movement and positioning and then watching Martial for 90 minutes he’s nowhere near good enough.

His best position if off the left but we have so many options there he’s simply not needed.
