It's not just laziness, the guy has always been lazy anyway. The problem is previously even while being lazy he used to do something with the ball. Now he's a complete nothing player. Just a waste of space on the pitch.

Sell ASAP.

Hes so bizarrely shit. Just don't get how it's the same player from 2015 who looked frighteningly good at 20 years of age.

Their only option is Joel Linton so yeah, he'd probably start every game
Steve Bruce subbed Ben Arfa off mid game after subbing him on (in Hull game against us). I doubt he would tolerate these performance from Martial.

His head is clearly down. Happens to some players. He's one of those that could move and find his explosiveness again in the right conditions I think.

Think we should have sold a while ago.

Genuinely mystified by this now. You would be forgiven for thinking he was Salomon Rondon. Bereft of all of the pace and agility that once made defenders back track.

I really like Martial as a player but I can’t help but think he needs a move. This time last year he was coming off the back of a 20-odd goal season; it’s still there somewhere.

It's like he's found a job with the government. No reason to improve or work hard, just do the minimum, and that paycheck keeps coming at the end of month (week, in his case).

True, I don't see how Martial can justifiably start for United again unless we're absolutely bereft of strikers.

Sounded like the Stretty were getting on his back a little towards the end

I think his mind is completely gone, no motivation or hunger from him. It seems he's just accepted he's a squad player and thats fine to him. Really think its better for us and him to sell him, always has had motivation problems but games like today's cant be accepted.

He doesn't have the mentality for top level. He's happy to drift through games, not bothered if he scores or not. Can you imagine him on the bus home, fuming because the team won but he didn't score? Or not speaking to anyone because Kane got a goal and he didn't? He has no idea how to survive with expectation on him.

I thought he was average. Did a few good things on the ball, had a few decent link up moments with Sancho. But his efforts off the ball is just not there.

I think he's about the same age as Rooney and Ronaldo were when we won the CL. Don't see him becoming the top player he looked like he could've become his first few seasons with us.

Footballing wise, he really should move and be regular starter for some CL club in Europe. I can see him doing a Depay. Or drop off the cliff like Mario Balotelli post Nice.

Worse part is that we pay him premium wages, I dont think we can sell him unless he take a big hit in the wages. I mean something like Alexis' deal, no fee loan while covering part of the wages and praying the other team takes him on a free.

We'll loan him out in January (because he won't play for us again now this year) and we'll pay his salary for two full seasons before he's off our books. Quote me on this later on.

Needs to be moved on, doesn’t seem like he wants to be here and has been bang average for a long time now. In all honesty he should’ve been moved on in the summer, can’t see him getting many minutes once Rashy is back either.

Unreliable as striker. Playing him only because Cavani not fully ready is becoming more and more taxing for the team.

He kind of has to play him, he's on £250k a week and has to earn it. He's hardly played as it is, if he doesn't get fit we can't move him on either.
I don't think we should play him at the expense of performances and results. I mean we are already losing 250k on him, on top of that if we get these kind of performances it just makes it worse no?

He's had our pants down with his new contract. He should be nowhere close to even our reserve 11.

Looking at the Premier League, I don't think he starts as a striker at any club. Left forward/winger at a few midtable clubs.

Ronaldo was 22, Rooney was 21 (turned 22 later that year). Martial will be 26 in few month time. He regressed and still playing like teenage player. Just lack game understanding, and can completely drift out of the game.

I think that game is the end of him here. He doesn't have the desire. There was a counter at the end where Greenwood was running on the ball down the right and Martial showed no interest in making a run to get on the ball, he was actually drifting out wide left.

He'll stick around until his contract expires because nobody will pay his wages, but then I see him going back to France where expectations are lower.

Match fitness I would imagine? He'll say he's not sharp because he's not played.
By keeping him on when he wasn't offering anything it meant Elanga came on at LB, he's had as much time as Van de Beek and Matic who both looked more up for the contest than him.

He didn't even try tonight...:lol::lol:

Giving him 250k a week is going to feck us up like proper, there's no chance of any club in world football giving him that
It's why I've been so vocally against the £150k plus contracts we're offering to these 22-24 year olds, worst case scenario, they lose their drive and no longer care, best case scenario they do really well but then want £400k for their next extension. We need to get our wage budget under control.

Yep, Cavani instead of Martial away to Southampton and tonight and we win both games

Frustrating Cavani's not fit as it's cost us twice now

He's like 4th choice ST now and probably 3rd or 4th LW too.

Going to be hard to sell him. Wages are a joke.

When Carlton Cole is giving him basic tips on how to receive the ball on the half turn you know he's got problems.

I don’t know what happened to him. He was a mean mean player in his first couple of seasons. Such regression has been happening to too many players at the club in recent years.

I know, it's fecking woeful. If he was a horse someone would put him out of his misery
I sense the sarcasm but I've always been a fan of Martial, however he's not played well for some time and he was poor tonight and needlessly was kept on at the detriment of shape.

He really wasn't though, we were just absolutely bereft of forward players so he had zero competition and quick feet. He's always been decent but for the last year and a half he's so poor it's unreal
