It is obvious that he does not like to defend and also doesn't believe in his own pace. He is standing off players because he feels if he goes in for a tackle and gets beat one on one, then he will not be able to get close to the attacker. He doesn't even want to get into situations where there's even a slight risk of having to run hard and catch up with the attacker. But that's just making him static and easier to dribble past. The worst part is that most of the times he is not even trying to get a block in and just hoping other defenders will mop up after him. Scared and severely lacking in self-confidence.

Can we recall laird, can't be worse than this kid. Seems so slow, bebe levels of crossing ability not a great defender to boot, stick Scott in RB free up a spot in midfield.

I agree, but it’s quite telling that you basically miss every single RB we have had when Dalot is playing. Most of our CBs would be much better there.
It’s clear Ole doesn’t rate him, but he doesn’t really have any options, because nobody wants Dalot and we haven’t signed any back-ups.
I wish, I really do, that Dalot was good. However, defensively he's a liability and the attacking we were promised is a mirage. Every cross overhit. Even with Wan-Bissaka's limits offensively, the difference between them is like night and day.

Inexperienced doesn't have anything to do with how bad he was. Right backs younger than him would've put in better displays. The chance where De Gea made the double stop and was hurt as a result came from him not doing anything but jogging back and letting the opposition player shoot. It's just lower league levels kind of defending.

One of the worst performances from a United player in years. AWB might be lacking going forward but feck me he can defend and give me that any day. It amazes me that Mourinho of all people would sign a right back who can’t defend to save himself, shockingly poor tonight.

I thought we should have brought Bailly on. He's athletic enough to play there and so much better than Dalot.
Appalling tonight. A real shame as I had some hopes he could take this opportunity. It's only one game but realistically he's only got a couple to state his case, which is harsh but is sometimes the reality.

Absolutely attrocious. Our right side was a bit secure only after Matic came in and Lindelof was able to cover for Dalot. And still he let his player past easily for the goal.
