It’s absolutely terrible. I don’t understand how they can even release it as it is. Feels like it isn’t finished at all and even when I knew it would be a basic release this is poor. Such a shame.

Whoever I bet on
There is no pastime activity that I have spent more time on in this life than PES.

I have been playing it since 97, played every version, played thousands of games online on PS4, I nearly made the Serbian national team last year.

I am beyond devastated.

I kind of want to try it just to see how bad it is
It’s free. Do it.

It’s a mobile game on current gen consoles. I can’t get my head around it.

It's absolute dogshit. First impressions:
  • Graphics are appalling. Some of the cutscenes etc look passable, but the actual in-game graphics look like a fecking PS2 game. Looks worse than every single version they've made for 10+ years.
  • The ball has one speed when passing: Lingard in the last minute vs Young Boys. I'm all for slower pace and less arcade-style gameplay, but the ball is running in fecking treacle.
  • You can't press with more than one player anymore.
  • You can't instruct an off-the-ball player to run when you have it anymore.
  • They fecking removed advanced shooting (which I've used forever), so no more blasting the ball low, or trying to place one in the top corner - you're forced to just pick a general direction and press x like every other no mark.
  • When players come together, a car crash happens and you can't even guess who is going to 'win' and who is going to fly off in a random direction.
I've played every Pro Evo since the one with Pierluigi Collina on the cover (PES 3?). This is the worst it's ever been by miles and the first one I just won't be bothering with unless there are massive, massive changes. I can't understand why things you've been able to do forever and can separate good players from bad ones have simply been removed from the fecking game.

It really is like they've thought "Hey, we're making loads of money off the mobile game. Let's just replace the other versions with that". What the feck were they thinking?
Started with ISS pro, waaay back in the day. It was awesome.

Accurate. I’m a bit gutted actually, I really enjoyed 19/20/21 after vowing never to buy FIFA against since 2017. Its going to be a struggle not buying FIFA if I can’t play this but I’m determined not to!

You really don’t

I am genuinely confused as to why they’d take features out like being able to tell your team mates to make runs and to press? Why dumb down your game? They’ve killed PES, I’m genuinely gutted.

It’s because they want it to be cross platform with mobiles so it’s got to be limited to a few controls.

Ah okay, it’s a shame I always felt like they took great pride in their fantastic game play before. PES always had really satisfying passing and putting a few passes together and creating chances always felt like a great accomplishment.

Shame those days are behind me and I might have to buy bleeding fifa. Eurrrgh.

Messi's face looks as if an AI was tasked to morph the first Ronaldo sculpture into Messi. I can't determine what Ronaldo looks like , but it might need exorcism.

Downloaded this last night, still havent got around to playing it. And by all accounts it seems to be even worst than every pes fan's worst thoughts. I'll always have pes 2021 to play I guess.

A shame.

In all honesty, a free-to-play offering on an otherwise established serialised sports instalment was never going to work.

Konami are banking on mobile users to feed their wallets.

Fifa isn't great but it is way better than this dross

I think it could have if it was done very well, and not weirdly made to play cross platform with mobile. F2P would mean it stands at chance at a large uptake of people trying it and loving it, which would be very difficult to acheive if it cost £60.

Devs must've been trying deliberately get sacked to get the redundancy pay. I can't imagine any other scenario where they can come up with game this bar. I actually think the android version of Pes game from last year was better than this.

At least there is hope, Spoony here says he played a later build of the game and it's much better. This stream is pretty funny how flabbergasted he is at the state of the game they have put out for this "release". Konami's levels of incompetence will never cease to amaze me.

Really sad, especialyl for the true OG PES folk who knew how to tweak their PS2s to play modded Winning Eleven games.

Heard Konami is now run like a gambling company, so I guess it makes sense. What a fall from grace though. Given it's a Japanese company, I just assume that some of the folks working there have also put in their shifts on the genuine masterpieces like PES 6.

There's definitely room in the market for a newcomer. People outside of FUT are pretty sick of FIFA's stagnant gameplay.

The crowd

FFS...

Fond memories of spending basically every waking hour playing a modded version of Winning Eleven, with Marilyn Manson's Tainted Love and a load of other early-2000s pop rock in the soundtrack. Think it was the same summer WWF Smackdown 2 game out.

Spoony pizzas live streamed this. He was full of praise and pleasantly surprised by the build he had previously played a couple of weeks back. And also found this version made available poor in comparison even graphically. So it's clear that Konami as with so many free to play games are going to release a half finished product into market. They've already announced that single player modes and even some gameplay mechanics will not come till later which is bizarre. Anyhoo I'm planning on getting a PS5 next year by when I'll take a call on which footy game I want to go for . For now it'll remain Pes 2021 on my base PS4. But it looks like Konami are making a mess out of efootball.

I enjoyed playing this online, like usual, angry internet mob is overreacting, it's not even close as bad as it is made out to be, especially on Steam.

I also found it strange when people made fun of how crowd looks, I literally never pay attention to the crowd on a football game.

Anyways, we shall see what build we get in November, this should be constantly updated, it's not a case of what you get so you wait a year for next version. Also it is getting Unreal 5 update next year or so when it will be getting that next gen look, so looking forward to that.

Holy sh*t, that can't be real

Are you sure it's not a scene out of a new Walking Dead game? Look at the woman in the green jacket, middle of the front row and the small child (or dwarf) behind her ... fecking terrifying.
Small nazi child.

Reminds me of this guy:

So I was in the middle of downloading this, but from what I've read on here and everywhere else, it seems like it could be a waste of my time even trying it. It's a real shame because this could have been something exciting and different. Apparently, driven shots aren't even available until November!
