Apparently questions are starting to be asked of Ole at board level (transfer window podcast). Has all the resources he needs and been in the job for 4 years now. The players are underperforming and Ole isnt making best use of the squad.

McGarry and Castles aren't very reliable at all and love sticking the boot in on United and Ole in particular.

Has it been mentioned elsewhere?

Nothing will happen as long as we continue to challenge for the league and CL.

We haven't been in that situation for 2 season. This is the third and we're off to be best season start thus far (despite the increase in sulking fans).

What's up with the passionate trend of selling the team short when they've done nothing but steadily climb the ladder in terms of results.
Look, Ole has been backed hugely at his time in the club (money-wise, performance-wise and even trophy-wise) no other big team would hang on a coach that keeps bottling it literary every time that matters and keep serving shit on a stick football week in week out.

As you said this is the third season and our best start, sure but come on man ask yourself, if this was Mourinho or Van Gaal or whomever non legend of this club would you be so patient with this football and these excuses? 3 years into the job? I don't think so.

Are we progressing? Sure, but very very very very slowly, factoring the players that we now have. Would another coach be able to make us play attacking football with some style and not hoofball like, say Tuchel?
In my opinion yes, Rodgers for example had Leicester playing quick attacking football in less than 3 months nevermind 3 years and with a team consisting of Ronaldo, Sacho, Varane, VDB, Rashford, Shaw etc.

Many posters posters in here keep blabbing about the unbeaten record and all that. But winning gives you the league not not-losing.

Do you think that playing like this is sustainable in the long run?
Is "go out there and enjoy yourselves lads" and "show passion, desire, hunger" enough to get us the league or the Champions League?
I'm not so sure about that.

Yes the club would for the most part. The only reason those two got fired was because they didn't make top 4. In van Gaal's case he even won the FA Cup clearly showing its not winning minor trophies that counts, it's consistently getting into top 4 that matters to the club hierarchy and Ole's done that and will probably continue to do that (and if he doesn't he will be sacked just like the others - so there's no extra patience for a club legend in that regard). Jose also only got fired after we were sufficiently out of the top 4 race that the season had become a write off.

It looks to me that the club's thinking is "get a manager that can consistently get us and keep us in the top 4 and we'll keep spending money on players that will hopefully push them over the top". Some of our fans may not like it, but all the ideas about Ole's job being in jeopardy if he makes top 4 are wishful thinking.

I'm not sure if any club in football Europe will sack a manager when they're 1 point off top and comfortably in the run for the CL advancement except for the fans.

He is nothing like Moyes though. If you are solely talking about the quality of the team, pretty much every single manager (unless you are Pep) has managed smaller teams.
I meant he is like Moyes in that he worked well at a mid table team, achieving beyond what should be reasonably expected of said team. For what it’s worth, I am impressed with Potter too, and was also a supporter of Moyes. You have to wonder about the step up, although I think Moyes undermined himself by sacking the back room and vetoing signings. Potter may be more pragmatic than that. I don’t know.
My issue is Ole is doing a good job and doesn’t deserve this conversation around him all the time. I also think it would be unhelpful to go through the pain of another managerial sacking and appointment when we have a little stability and a lot of progress. I am happy to trust the process - Ole hasn’t steered us too far wrong up to now.

I don't see the point you're trying to make? Are you saying we haven't been bad this season, or are you comparing us to the past 2 seasons? Remind me again what we won during those years?
I'm quoting your post re: how can we possibly turn it around.

I'm pointing out that we've had far worse starts and turned it around.

He hasn't even been here 3 years yet. It will be 3 years in mid-December.. 2 full seasons so far.

Ole has been in the job an additional year every new quarter. He's coming up on 12 years in the job in December

Do you think Ole's style of play (after spending hundreds of millions) can last 3 years in Madrid, Munich, Barcelona, even City, PSG, Dortmund?

This is a myth imo. Their football is about quick transition, very similar with us couple seasons ago. I guess you don't watch them much.

No one should ever try and impersonate that donkey ;)

We have got better in literally every single aspect as a club and a team since Ole came in. When he did come in the majority of people would have agreed it would take a good few years to get it sorted and get us back on track, and here we now are, possibly ahead of schedule. We have built a very good squad and trimmed a lot of the fat that we had under Jose. I'm not sure Ole is the man to take us over the line, but for the work he has done to turn things around he deserves this season to prove he can do it.
I agree to an extent but I'm not sure why people thought it would take that long to change the atmosphere at the club - it wasn't as if we were going broke or in danger of relegation. I think the Jose thing has been blown put of all proportion by the club's PR and spin. If everything was Jose's fault, then by him not being there, a lot of the problems should have been solved. Also, I'm pretty sure I heard people say Ole deserved "this season" to prove himself last season.

And if we have got better in every single aspect, why have we not won a trophy - something both Jose an LVG did. I love Ole but I just don't see how someone so inexperienced has the United job but then I've rarely seen former players return to clubs as a manager and bring success.

On the flip side, I expected both Chelsea and City to dominate the PL much sooner, given that, technically, they can afford every player they want and so maybe Ole faces more difficult odds than any past United manager. It would, however, be nice to stop losing to the likes of Young Boys, Crystal Palace and Newcastle...

Let's agree to disagree then. I've seen enough Leicester games thank you.

Leicester aren't all about park the bus and hit them on the counter like us a couple of seasons ago. They can dominate possession where possible and play some great stuff, mind you they play with Ihenacho, Maddison, Lookman, Johny Evans and co. These are good players but no where near the quality of our squad.

Have you seen our transitional play, in Ole's 3rd season?

Same could be said about us in the last two seasons. And it's not even remotely true that we parked the bus and countered aside from the big matches in season 2019-2020. But it's true this season out transition or our general play has been bad so far but I don't think it's only because of Ole. There's a considerable number of factors in that.

Anyway, you should check the Brendan Rodgers thread in the Football Forum to see how great his "quick attacking" or "dominate possession" football currently is. It doesn't look really great with 7 pts after 6 matches I think. Especially when you consider they have a midfield which many of our fans would dream for.

Think it might be 5 years, wait, possibly six. Seems to increase by the week.

Ole arrived in 19th Dec 2018, he'll be 3 years into the job this December. Full time appointment was made at the end of March 2019.

That's 2 years and 6 months in total as full time manager or 2.5 years.

As I've said I've watched enough Leicester games, I don't need to see any thread. I'm checking other threads that posters keep finding excuses for our poor performances.

OK, but besides Tielemans and Ndidi I don't think many in here would welcome Bertrand, Vestergard, Albrighton, Perez, Choudhury, Ihenacho etc.

Anyway you can't compare the two teams quality-wise, and in our case 2 months in and we look disjointed as feck. Hell even Oles' buddy G.Neville said that we don't play as a team rather as 11 individuals.

We've also got two Dutch guys in our recruitment structure (Marcel Bout & Henny de Regt) who could really help Ten Hag, both when it comes to recruitment and when it comes to understanding the league.

Time look longer as you are younger so the twelve years old here must think that Ole has been in the job forever…

Nah you can have him. Interviewed very badly for the spurs job when spurs went though interviewing a billion potential managers.

At this point, just give me a manager that's not fecking laughing and grinning when we're seconds away from dropping even more points at home.

I'd have Conte as manager 100% even with all the histrionics he brings. He's a real winner.

Zidane is the man to manage these players and maximise them. Ronaldo and Varane he knows, pogba would excel. Who cares if its a 2-3 year thing. This team can win league THIS year

100%. Ole has done well to build this team but he’s too Risk adverse to get the best out of it. Get conte as interim and appoint potter in the summer. I’m just sick of ole. It’s been 3 seasons and the only time we saw some patterns of play was when he was the interim manager.

he stabilised the ship But it’s time to go

It's all pointless anyway, Ole isn't going anywhere. This team is far too good to not get top 4, even with poor coaching set up.

We should be sounding out one of Zidane or Conte at this point but the fresh contract for Solskjaer means we won't act until it's already too late, just as we did with Mourinho before him.

I think Conte would just be a stop-gap, which is fine. But, I worry his short-term appointment will do long-term damage to the squad. Also, he doesn't really develop young players: what would happen to Sancho, Greenwood, and Rashford? Lastly, his transfer record is very bad: while at Chelsea, he bought Morata, Bakayoko, Batshuayi, Drinkwater, Luiz, Zappacosta, Emerson, Giroud, and Barkley. His only two good signings were Kante and Rudiger.

Well we won't be in a title race and we can't win a trophy under him so not sure what the point will be.

Standards set so low

Other than Pep and Klopp, very few top clubs stick with managers as long as we've stuck with Ole.

Chelsea are pretty much the most trophy-rich club in England since Abramovich came around, and look at how they change managers.

Bayern, PSG etc.

We don't have a Pep, Klopp or Simeone. There's no shame in admitting that. This isn't working, we should try something else. If that doesn't work, we'll try something else. That's what football is. Managers change. Ole is not SAF mach 2.
