You can't reason with the cult mate.
He is the Messiah and without him no way anyone else cans step up and score apparently.

Genuinely can't wait for him to be back. Sorely missed on that left wing.

We did loads of running against Aston villa, we ran at the most of the first half when we had the ball, we don't need more of it.

Just because Rashford has scored 20 goals previously does not mean we would gain 20 goals by playing him, that's not how statistics or football works.
After Shaw went off all of our attacks came from the right hand side. Rashford would have stretched Aston Villa allowing for more space for Ronaldo down the middle. All Villa really had to do was allow us to attack down the right and squeeze Greenwood out, because as soon as they showed us down there, we didn't really have an option to switch play as Pogba would always come inside too much.

Sorely missed as we knew he would be, looking forward to his return.

He’s an important player for us is Marcus, I hope some realise that a bit more now.

That might be true, but it wasn't working when shaw was on either. Because having runners and shooters was not our problem, we didn't and dont need more.

It's a cult to say we miss Rashford?

We should be beating Young Boys, West Ham and Villa without Rashford and he doesn't solve our issues. But he certainly offers something that non of our other wingers can offer. He's a valuable tool to have back in the squad and I predict he'll quickly gain his starting place back.
ok, sign me up. I can’t wait to see him back on the pitch - I have a sneaky suspicion he is going to boss it with Ronaldo!

Hes just more of the same though, and not at all solving what our issues are.
Nobody is saying he solves our issues. Unless the operation has turned him into a world class number 6.

He's another player who can get goals when at times we desperately need them. If the coaching is truly as bad as people say, and we only rely on individual brilliance - then more avenues of brilliance is all the welcome thank you very much.

The Athletic is reporting he's back in full training, so only a matter of time now.

Ronaldo, Cavani, Rashford, Sancho, Greenwood, martial ... ole is going to have his work cut out to keep them all happy - quality problem to have but its easy to imagine a few of them getting less game time than they feel they deserve

What makes the problem worse for Ole is that if we were playing well and winning consistently, then it would be easier to mange. Both because some players may understand it's harder to start, but equally if we were a well drilled unit then it's like for like replacements because most of them have similar styles of play

But because we still look a bit all over the place, if Rashford or someone is sitting there on the bench watching us fail to attack properly and still not get a start, he would be rightly pissed

But to keep it on Rashford specifically - glad he is back and will be available soon

We have been clearly missing him. His pace and running adds something to our team which the others can’t provide.
Link up between Pogba, Rash, Bruno and CR7 should be good to watch

I remember his performances at the end of last season. Selfish, poor decision making, zero workrate and looked like he forgot how to dribble.

Hope he comes back at his best.

He was about 50% fit, if that, and still more effective than most of our team. Says it all.

Need Rashford to tear a few right backs apart!!

Think Rashford back might get Sancho on track too.

With Ronaldo up top, I'd love to see Ole, use Rashford as a super sub to start, have him replace Sancho/Greenwood around the 65/70 min mark. Use his speed against tired legs; a few years ago when Martial and Rashford were used as interchanging LW, it was great, Rashford would start and Martial would come on and score. Or Martial would start and Rashford would score.

The only direct player we have other than Greenwood. Rest of them are passing sideways or dangerous double edged through balls.

Was he banned? There's some right weirdo opposition fans that seem to create accounts on redcafe with the sole purpose of attacking Rashford. It's so weird. He's an unbelievably talented player and he's been missed sorely, he destroyed PSG, Liverpool and City on a few occasions and given the month we've got coming up we need him back.

God we’ve missed the Rashford and Shaws linkup down the left. Can’t get him back quick enough. Not to mention his directness.

One of our most important players, mad to say that aloud when it seems like yesterday he burst onto the scene but it’s true and has been for a good while.

I think part of the problem with this year is that we have no idea what our best starting XI is anymore. Last season (after a bunch of trial and error) we've ended up with:

------------------- Cavani ------------------------
-- Rashford -- Bruno -- Greenwood
----------- McT --------- Fred ------------------

and that was pretty consistent and we knew what we'd get with that side. Remember how long we tried to get Martial at CF to work? Cavani only established himself in the second half of the season. Greenwood was in pretty terrible form the first half of the season as well.

I forget what prompted Ole to try the Pogba LW experiment, but it worked out great, so an added option there. And we went and bought yet another player who seems to prefer LW (3x first team starters who prefer that position now) and we've somehow ended up with wanting to play Ronaldo as well.

Fully fit Rashford, could be the difference between 3rd and 1st at the end of the season, it's not just his directness in attack we miss, it's his defensive work that we miss, the kids has a great work ethic

Don’t forget Shaw, who is linking up well with Rashy on the left.

odd post. He's quite poor at tracking back.

Not anymore he doesn't. He did the first few years after he broke through, but his workrate and defensive work declined massively from the start of 19/20 and only got worse from there. His laziness and lack of any defensive workrate was a real (negative) highlight of the last couple of years. In fact if I remember correctly even Martial statistically did more defensively in 19/20.

I do hope that a part of it was the injuries that he seemed to be constantly struggling with over the last 18 months and we might see some improvement, but his defensive decline started well before that.

The issue with Rashford is that the worse his form is, the worse his descision making gets, but since he was playing with injury it became a viscious cycle.

Hope to see him back on the pitch soon

Whilst I agree, I also think he is the most defensive out of Greenwood Sancho and Ronaldo and Martial.
I dont think he is. Ronaldo sure. Sancho Ive seen work quite hard at tracking back. Martial definitely tracks back more.

For what its worth I dont think its because Rashford is lazy. I think its by design because his rapid pace means the counter attack is always on if hes kept a bit higher up. But yeah, for that reason hes not defensively a big impact for us

Rondon is going to stick to Lindelof isn't he? Not going to be a fun watch.

Bizarre post, our only consistent threat as a team during Ole’s tenure is on the counter, and that had suffered greatly without Rashford.
I get what @Hammondo is saying though. If you look at what we struggle with primarily i.e keeping the ball, building play, it's not Rashfords thing.

But as you say, Rashford at his best is still a massive boost.

But we’re struggling at that with and without Rashford, difference is, we’re also now even pretty shit at our main weapon, the counter.

So Marcus return is a huge plus however you look at it.
