    Don't hate the line up.

Whilst I know it's Ole's go to midfield pair and they didn't play together in the week. I'd simply prefer not to see a midfield two of McTominay and Fred.

Don't see a problem resting Ronaldo for Cavani, he showed what he brings against Villareal and Ronaldo shouldn't be expected to feature in every game anyway.

I actually find Pogba not playing left a relief. I'm not sure I'd go with Martial, I felt Sancho had a game to build upon or actually reward Jesse for his cameos with a start.

The line up is fine. All that whining about Martial when Sancho hasn't looked any better on the left so far. Let's go and do them!

    Martial start is a surprise.

Helps that Everton are missing a few players too and he's got a decent record vs them. Maybe he'll finally play himself into a bit of form? Here's hoping.
Plus he's playing on the left which is unknowingly to him, his most affective position - because he is piss poor as a 9.

Fred and McTominay for a home game, Ronaldo rested for the Portugal games, Martial starting...

You wouldn't want United to play Ronaldo, Cavani, Rashford, Pogba, Sancho, Greenwood, Bruno, Lingard and Martial in the same lineup. You need to have balance between the attack and defence.

McFred allows Ole to play his favoured 2-2-6 formation. We score more goals and get more points with this midfield than with any other combination. They give the attackers and fullbacks more freedom.

We have one of the strongest squads in the league. We should be rotating quite a bit.

Obviously I'd have preferred to see that skewed towards some players (VDB) and away from others (Martial) but still, the actual rotation is a good thing.

At the very least, Martial has to put in a serious effort today. Making runs with out the ball, that sort of thing.

Not sure why everyone is complaining. We all said last season that Ole needs to trust his squad more and rotate more and now he does and suddenly people are pissed off.
Yeah when everyone is fit, we meant rotating Rashy, Greenwood, Sancho on the wings. Or Cavani/Ronnie up top. Not fecking Martial.

Anyway, I kinda trust Ole in this department. I don't like the football he's playing and his lack of tactical nous, but in the man management department and selection/subs department he's been proven right more often than not.

Sancho has shown something, we don't need 10 starters and a training cone on the pitch. feck it, if not Sancho, then lingard.
Don’t know why, he is rated like VdB here, doing not much, missing a sitter but he is coming good, while ever other player is judged on different criterias.
I have nothing against the guy and I hope he will come good but no way he is provided anything since he is here.

You would think so wouldn’t you. But the lack of exactly that is why I’ve stopped pinning any hopes on him being bothered.

Let’s hope I’m wrong and he has a good game.

Eh you can make the same arguments for the players he is playing.

Fred and McTominay have been no use either. Fred especially has been bad while McTominay has been anonymous!

Also I think the point in rotating so much is valid. We lost our last league game. With Liverpool playing City we have a good chance of being top of the league.

Putting out this weekend lineup is jepordising that.

Lose or draw and it's absolutely idiotic.
Win and it's genius. There is no in between.
What midfield do you want to see?

We have something like a 60% win rate with mcFred as much as we need upgrades. Pogba/McT were an awful combination mid-week.

EDIT: There's a hell of a lot in winning and losing that is neither idiotic nor genius. Are you always so black and white about this stuff?

Maybe not today, nor tomorrow, but playing Martial and Fred will cost Ole his job one day.

Can't understand why he has any faith left in either of them.
Can't see why Sancho would start having faith in Ole too. YES he ain't pulling trees, but he did have a decent half mid-week and is building momentum, but now he's on the bench over Martial.

I’m all for sticking with players and showing faith but it’s baffling to see Martial in that line-up.

People would have been raging had Lingard been starting too.
Well, he really shouldn't start league games. One important goal is nowhere near enough to warrant starts from someone who's been as consistently disappointing as Lingard.

Amazed Sancho isn't playing. I appreciate that Martial needs game time but so does Sancho, and Sancho is the long term £70m blockbuster summer purchase. So odd to prioritise Martial. Still, hopefully Martial gets back into his groove.

Shame VDB isn't playing, but that's less of a surprise. Pretty obvious he has no future at United.

Cavani makes sense. He needs game time. Shame to leave out Ronaldo, but it needs to happen occasionally.
So your logic is Sancho is the new shiny toy ?

I don’t see the problem here, he hasn’t been good until now, let him time to adapt while giving a chance to others.

    That line up though

Always good to rest players going into an international break..

Absolutely pathetic lineup. Martial shouldn’t be anywhere near this team.

It looks like Sancho is going to get the VDB treatment this season.

If this backfires on him, Solskjaer will be under immense pressure.
Because he’s been benched for 1 game?

Nothing to suggest players are turning on him
Squad rotation or is he benching players who is starting to turn on him ?
Exactly! If anything it’s the opposite, the player’s reaction to the goals on Wednesday, proves they are playing through their skin for Ole

If Ronaldo had played and got injured people would be saying he should be managing his game time better, Ole can’t win.

I dont believe players are turning on him for what its worth.

For the Ronaldo comment, i doubt anyone or at best only a few would critizise Ole for starting Ronaldo here if he got injured tbh.

Common sense prevailed with Ronaldo. Lingard not getting the start over Martial is a weird one given the disparity in form and commitment at the moment.

I matter what happens, this is going to be very interesting day now… I’m surprised as everyone but also kinda intrigued and looking forward to seeing how this line up works.
I’d love for us to get to a stage we can rotate and it not impact us too much as on paper the squad quality and depth in attacking positions is good.

Precisely. He’s a good impact sub and has sort of salvaged his career here with some important moments. Before that however he was awful for ages.

This was the ultimate game for Donny to start. PL at home against a respected club that just happen to be significantly weakened. I'm 100 percent sure Ole didnt want to cave in to pressure and decided against it.

It's yet another kind boggling decision from him. He's not making it easy for himself at all.

How in the universe does The Sulk get a start today. Seriously. And McFred back. Wherever Ole had he has lost.

He never give any other midfield a run of games mate. He plays them once then goes back to McFred.

Even when McFred fails just as much. People expect so little from them that it's gets brushed over when they are crap. Has Fred had a good game this season? He had one or two good halfs and other than that has been absolutely shocking.

In this case yeah but he hasn't put out anywhere near the best team to win. We are going into an international break too.

Surely Lingard or Sancho deserve minutes ahead of Martial? Especially for starting games.

Also if he's rotating, would have liked to see DVB on the lineup instead of one of McFred. I'm now convinced they are the first names on the team sheet for Ole.

Really need a good win here, so let's hope we see it through. Also I hope Ronaldo is subbed on in the second half and scores a couple, for FPL reasons as well!

When the caf ia furious with the line up, it usually means good football on the pitch. Lets crush them.
