He costs us every week. Bullied TWICE by Demarai Gray of all people and too thick to make a tactical foul. Always manages to make a 50/50 a 20/80 against him as well.

There's no accountability for him though so he'll continue to play.
He may have struggled in the challenged, but just imagine if it was VDB instead. He would have kicked it into our own goal. Thank god Ole has had the foresight to not play him.

Absolutely pathetic by him for the goal. He does shit like that a lot.

Oles fault that he plays him

He is not good is he. Embarrassing that he is a starter for us. Genuinely no distant skill other than effort. Well played, Fred.

He's not a deep midfielder, Fonseca (Shakhtar) was right from the start.

He probably shouldn't start games after that.

Bit of an idiot lot of times. He tends to give a foul away in dangerous area but when he needs to give a foul away in good position to win tactical foul, he doesn't do it. This type of player is very likely won't be a coach or manager in the future. Not even a pundit.

But But But, you have to play Fred because he does so much defensively.

Rubbish. Another Fred error leads to a goal, he lost a 50/50 to Demarai fecking Gray!

There's always a lot of focus on his passing but he's softness is a bigger problem. He's simply too lightweight and loses almost every single 50-50 duel. No other midfielder it the league gets shoved aside like that by Demarai Gray.

He did his bit for their goal, so this means Ole will reward him with another start in our next match

Rubbish. If anything shows how far we've fallen since the glory days it's Fred at CM.

I would've said "after being so poor and again costing us a goal, he will be dropped surely".
I would've said that, but I know better.

He's fine as B2B, but terrible as the last midfielder. We've seen so many signs I blame our manager for this goal, not Fred. Him being bullied and dribbled past happens ALL THE FECKIN TIME.

Cost us that. I don’t dislike him as much as many do - but he needs to be benched now.

He's gotta be much stronger than that. Unacceptable.
It's not just that. It's the easiest right foot clearance in the world on the first challenge, and he doesn't do it. That's Under-9s level of knowledge/understanding when defending set pieces.

He played well in the first half. Too weak for their goal. Should have taken him out and took the yellow.

I assume the instruction is to drop him back to help stop the counter attack on corners because he provides no offensive contribution (a criticism for another time) - yet how many times has he been left exposed in that exact position? It happened at least 3 times against Wolves alone.
He was having a good game until that point, but unfortunately moments like that are too important to overlook, decent player but shouldn't be a starter.
This McFred midfield didn't stop us getting overrun in midfield either.

He had some decent moments but a defensive midfielder for a team with title ambitions being bullied by a scrawny fecking winger is just unacceptable, and it's not even a rare occurrence now. If you swap McTominay and Fred for Doucoure and Allan United win that game without breaking a sweat.

He also misplaced a 5 yard pass which led to another really close counter for them. He is just shite. Running like a dog behind a car doesn't mean he is supposed to our midfielder. In any case, our midfield might be shite but the way Ole sets us up, how on Earth do we get regularly so caught out during counters. I mean we have 2 frickin holding mids and yet we are shite at breaking attacks.

Him and McTominay are liabilties for different reasons. Fred looks for the ball, but he's that bad we'd be better off if he didn't. Mctominay spends the whole game playing hide and seek. It's pick your poison with those two.

He's just a poor midfielder. His passing is average, his defending at times is comical, his energy is 'good' but without the other attributes you've just got a clown running around the middle of a pitch.

He wasn’t having a great game and then was terrible for their goal. He has a tough time because Mctominay is all over the place but he’s just so erratic.

Should have won the ball or fouled him. However the defending of the others in that goal was shambolic, 3 Everton players against 5 Utd and they got that much space?

Yet people will still let the duo live off of that night in Paris & a few backs to the wall performances a few seasons ago.

It’s a horrendous duo.

How bad can VDB possibly be that he'd be a downgrade on Fred this season.
Grow a pair of balls Ole for feck sake and give the guy a chance.

Insane how he was a wet paper tissue for their goal and he still wasn’t the worst central midfielder on the field

He had a brilliant first 10 minutes and I said "Not a chance he carries this on".

Like fecking clockwork. Gifted them 3 chances, they took 1. He is hopeless.

He cost us 2 points there.

We can say what we like about Ole and the fact that our squad should be 2-0 up against such an average team by that point. We weren't and Fred cost us 2 points by not doing what any Premier League level midfielder would have done and either winning the ball or fouling Gray.

The fact that Ronaldo has to play with this contest winner is horrible to watch.

Him in midfield and Ole at the wheel makes this season so predictable. 3rd place finish based purely on the individual attacking talent we have up front.

£47m. When we could have just renewed Ander Herrera's contract after the 2017 Europa League final. That's all I have got to say.

The way he let Gray get away from him for the goal was criminal. His lack of quality on the ball is just embarrassing too, even old man Matic is a more appealing option at the moment.
