How can Ole sit there with a straight face talking about adaption in the PL for VDB, when Fred gets bullied every single game? It's absolutely pathetic.

Shocking player, shouldn't be anywhere near the premiership yet alone a team pretending to fight for titles. Can't tackle, poor passing, no strength, abysmal shooting, I just don't understand why he is the team, I doubt he would get in any other team in the league.

He was doing ok, and then that moment happened. And the problem is, that moment happens almost every game, and its almost always costly.

As a player, he needs to wipe the guy out. You cant allow a counter attack, you have to wipe the ball, or the guy, but one of them cant get past you.

He still costs us too many goals with mistakes. Done it every season for us. We give our defenders grief when they make a mistake that leads to a goal but this muppet has done it his entire United career. You can accept it when he's new to the team and league, it's frustrating but as a player he's adapting. But he's been here for years now and still makes these fecking stupid decisions that cost us points.

How difficult is it to make a tactical foul. I'm really beginning to dislike Fred, he costs us game after game.

What the hell ole, can you not try anything else at all

He is really bad when stopping counters. he literally bounces off players when trying to stop them...hopefully Ole subbing him was the last straw

I thought he’d played alright today until the goal, but he absolutely cannot allow Gray to win the ball there. Foul him and take the booking if needed

He's just a crap player, but yet here we are. Starting player for a big club.

For some odd reason, his mistakes and performance doesn't factor into team selections. I can't even blame him anymore.

Was he? He misplaced every single pass when we won the ball and tried to break at pace on the wings. You cannot have a midfielder in your team who can't pass the fecking ball.

It is totally braindead from Ole to have persisted for so long with that crap. The fact that Fred gets bounced far more often than a ball in a pinball machine has been a recurrent theme that has cost us too many goals and dangerous chances already.

I'm glad that the Old Trafford crowd gave him quite a loud and clear message. He deserved the boos.

Fred had a few bites at the cherry to prevent that counter attack from happening. It would have been a routine win but for that.

Hmm, I think this might be a slight exaggeration no? He did well. There were moments where he would stop an everton attack (second half) and then just give it to a better player.
The problem occurs when he loses probably a 60-40 in his favour, and then goes back in and bounces of the player (Gray?). That should never happen.

Is he the worst player to have such an important role for us in the last 30 years?

I think he is, Anderson was twice the player he is, Barthez made far fewer mistakes than people make it seem, John O'Shea was better than him in multiple positions (even his own), Alan Smith was only a regular for a short stretch of time and again was probably better than him in his own position. I really struggle to think of anyone.

Problem is he couldn’t even put the sneaky tactical foul in because he was on a yellow - utter dog shit. Surely Donny can’t be this bad

That was so stupid it was ridiculous. Our players don't know jack shit about tactical fouling. People mock City for this but the reality is it's part of football. City would have never conceded such goal because their player would have just fouled the feck out of him.

I just realized who he reminds me of. He is the Tyrone Mings of midfielders.

Lost a shoulder to shoulder challenge with Demarai Gray that led to our goal. Says it all really.

It’s Fred doing Fred things. He’s one player who can’t hide behind Ole’s incompetence. You shouldn’t need a manager to tell you how to handle that situation.

And in turn it’s not Fred’s fault that he’s the best we have in a position that went ignored over the summer when everyone knew it was the biggest problem area.

Last year he was very good. Recently he is totally out of form, or worse the teams have figured out his weaknesses. Neverthless he should not start. Come as a sub, fine, but never start.

I've never thought he was good enough in general but things are made worse by playing him as a the deepest midfielder because he's utterly clueless in the role and got mugged like an U18 player for their goal.

Fred can be half decent when he is on form. Not good enough to win the league but good enough to beat Everton. Problem is that he is so out of form its shocking. McFred aside why play out of form players?

He had chances in the game when he won the ball to pass the ball quickly to a runner on the wing but it was always over or under hit. He is a rubbish midfielder who overcommits in his pressing and loses the ball and the man most of the time. His passing game is a mess and he lacks most of the basics for a deep lying midfielder. It's not on him though we go into another season with him and Mctominey as our main midfielder pairing. We have bought midfielders for over 200m since Mourinho was here, Ole did also buy DVB for 40m so the club is in a mess but that takes buying away from Fred being nowhere near good enough to start for United.

I’m a fan of his and thought he was doing pretty well up to the goal incident. That’s seriously fecking annoyed me though to just let him go like that. Always play the tactical foul!! Thing is if one goal is all you can muster at home against a depleted Everton then you’re always going to have nervy moments hanging in there. It’s just nowhere near enough from the squad we have. Shite attack. Shite by Fred. Shite by Ole

He wasn’t actually bad on the ball today. Everything else was utter shit though. If you aren’t strong enough to hold off a player on the counter make the foul and take the booking. He offers the defence zero protection. Winning the ball back wouldn’t be so important if we played midfielders better at keeping it.

He did give the ball away in easy positions before that mistake for the goal, I don't think he was playing well, set up two attacks and yes Bruno did one with a more forward pass.

On one occasion Fred was facing our own goal in their half, the ball was his to play near the touchline but he ambles towards it, still doesn't play it then an Everton player finally arrives, he gets caught out and gives away a freekick, it's just comical.

It reminds me of watching an old and gone Rooney in midfield stretching to play passes and trying to tackle but failing and getting exposed. We have such a poor collection of midfielders that can't do the basics.

I quite like him and believe that he's been good over the last couple of seasons. This season however, he's definitely dropped a few levels and he's actually costing us results. Time for the bench.

I'd rather have Matic than Fred.
At least you know with Matic you have the physicality.

He had a decent game until that moment, though it wasn't even that bad. He was never able to get to the ball and there were multiple mistakes across the team. However, if it wasn't that goal it would have been another. We were wide open every single time they counter attacked us. Only a slim offside stopped the second and Fred wasn't even on the pitch then.

As long as we have this management team we won't see the best of Fred or anybody else.

Whilst I'd happily upgrade on Fred, I think AWB let him down for their goal.
He knocks the ball loose, and ends up behind Gray. AWB should have gone and taken everything, and I think that's what Fred expected too. Instead he runs back, to defend a threat that isn't there yet.
Fred then has to make up the ground, and then crumbles in the challenge.
