Nailed on when he leaves Roma in the next 1-2 years. I think they would go for Conte now if they really wanted to climb the table fast. Lampard might get them in EL but he won't get them a CL spot.

City got taken over on the last day of the 2008-09 summer transfer window. Narrowly missed out on CL qualification their first full season with new owners (2009-10), and comfortably qualified in 2nd place their second full season.
I get that the league is significantly more competitive now, but there's no reason Newcastle can't go through a similar trajectory if they splash the cash and get the right people in.
At this point in time they can within the boundaries of FFP spend 200m in the next 3 years. That’s enough to get them up again if they get relegated. Let’s see if the next manager has a magic wand

I'm a bit cynical when it comes to FFP and clubs with money. So far, FFP hasn't shown to have much teeth when challenged in court, and seems to have massive loopholes you can drive a truck through. But I'm no legal expert - we'll see how this pans out.

They should just get someone until the end of the season, as keeping them up is a different skillset to what comes next. Then someone for 2-3 years to assemble a squad that can qualify for the Champions League. Then throw a massive longterm contract to whoever is seen as the world's best manager at the time.
I don't think so, there is enough deadwood floating about at big clubs to come and move them up the table in January. Then is their PL status is maintained there is still enough talent for them to pick up and have a team that can get into Europa League positions by the end of next season and by that time they would be just a few players away from a top four finish and a title challenge.
If they are smart they should first appoint a good DOF and CEO. That duo can appoint a journeyman manager for now whilst they build the necessary structures during the remainder of the season. Obviously they will need to spend a bit of money in January to make the team more competitive but like I said above there are lot of players floating about at big clubs that can make a difference for them: think of Martial here, Arsenal have a few, Barca would probably give them a buy one and get one for free deal, then Juve et al.
You would expect a flurry of endorsement deals from companies linked to their fund which should substantially increase what they can spend on the team. That's the danger with a takeover of this nature, they could funnel the money via third parties that they have an interest in who would in turn come as 'corporate partners' and the PL wouldn't give a damn. The power these people have and the money they have will give them access to the best brains around to enable them to make a mockery out of FFP.

These things doesn't happen overnight. 3 years 200m is nothing. You get barely 70m over an year. Clubs know that they are filled with Cash and will add a premium now.

It depends on what you mean by them becoming a competitive team, doesn't it. Do you really think they will restrain themselves to spending within the FFP limits of 200m in 3 years? They obviously won't and how quick they rise depends on the people they bring in initially.
This season is a write off because survival is about the only thing they can achieve but their financial and political muscle will allow them to do the unthinkable in the summer. They can spend more than Cilla, Everton and Arsenal combined. I don't think it will be that difficult.
Clubs do know they have cash and there will be a premium but will they care? There is obviously enough players and managers greedy enough to fancy such a project and be set for life. We have seen it before with the Chinese League. They will buy players and they will underreport some of the fees and wages they pay for FFP purposes.

But seriously, they’re a wealthy club with an underperforming squad and they need someone to come in and ‘lift the mood’, so the only logical appointment would be a club legend who’s only previous PL managerial experience is getting a club relegated… so for them that’d be Shearer.
But seriously, they’ve tried the ‘proven manager’ route in the past - Benitez, Keegan etc - and ‘look where that got them’! The only logical approach now is to look to the Norwegian league and bring in someone who’s doing ‘ok’ over there.
But seriously, whoever they pick will be a fine and sound appointment as long as it follows ‘The Newcastle Way’.

Brendan Rogers, they need EPL experience for now and Rodgers would get them up the table with 3-4 solid signings in the short term.The european competition experience will come later with a Zidane or a Pep.

I think they should try to emulate the way Manchester City did it, and as for the manager at the beginning they should bring someone who can establish a long term base football style and assemble a solid squad as foundation. They're not at a point where Guardiola, or any top manager, is going to manage them and make them win stuff. So they need to spend their money smartly.
