He looks the part. If Dan James can be a serviceable winger, no reason he can’t do better with a similar work ethic and torrid pace.

I'd be surprised if he does. His general technique is decent but not special. He's physically got the tools, but Sancho has a far higher ceiling.
I've seen players like Sancho not reach their ceiling countless times, Isco for example. It's not just the talent, you need to put in the work and Sancho right now is going through the motions, he's waiting for things to happen rather than making them happen, it's not age because look at Greenwood or Elanga, once they got the ball, head up and running at their man, trying to make something happen. I have no doubt he will improve but nothing is stopping Elanga from being better.

Too early to say but looks like he could turn into a good player. He has all the attributes and his biggest asset is the rapid pace and work ethic. He also has an eye for a goal. This is not just off the game last night. I see him at youth levels on MUTV regularly.

He has electric pace. The one he chased Bowen down was a classic 100m sprint. Caught up lot of space.

Like him !

The best part was that he didn't look out of his depths even though he was being played out of position. Came on and just looked comfortable out there. His electric pace has been evident since the U23s and the preseason outings. Really excited to see how Ole uses him this season and how he develops himself.
Another cracking prospect on our hands.

I'm not a big critic of Ole but honestly it frustrates me that there are obvious busted flushes that we play when kids like this should be getting matchday experience

In this case, Cavani's been confirmed to return to the squad and Lingard and Sancho will probably be two other attacking options on the bench so Ole probably things Elanga would benefit more from a start today than be a likely unused sub against Aston Villa.

I'm sure he'll get more chances through the season. Just sucks that we were eliminated from the league cup at first opportunity.

He is physically ready for first team football IMO. our first team is stacked in positions that he plays/should focus on with his development. Too difficult to integrate him into the first team like this, and not stall his development. With no more League Cup this season, I think we should send him out on loan.

If we want him to be a regular in the squad we have to start give him some game time in order for him to be ready to play senior level next year as replacement for Marcus at LW after we'll sell Martial.

We’re stacked with forwards (Ronaldo, Cavani, Bruno, Lingard, Sancho, Greenwood, Rashford, Mata, Pogba) who play as strikers or part of the 3 behind. I don’t see him getting many opportunities, especially now that we’re out of one of the domestic cups.

Why didn’t we send him on loan?

It’s the same finish from the left over and over. Loves a side foot. He’s so like Martial but more direct and aggressive. Scored a free from out beside the throw line on the left against Liverpool u23s last week. It was a cross but one of those that device everyone

Needs a loan out, he's outgrown our u23s and needs first team football to get into contention for Swedens mens team, which I don't think he's far off breaking into.

Yeah, we've ended up in a weird situation with Greenwood, Rashford, Sancho, Elanga and Amad - all under 23 - competing for 2 positions long term.

It's even more crowded this year with Pogba, Lingard, Mata - and even one of Ronaldo/Cavani if we're trying to squeeze them both in - fighting for those 2 spots.

Elanga had a good preseason, he's been bright any time he's had first team minutes and obviously doing great with Sweden too. Amad's a huge talent and has had similarly promising performances.

I don't really buy that 'it's a good problem to have'. Obviously we play a lot of matches, squad rotation etc...but we've put some pretty firm, long-term barriers in front of two of our biggest young prospects.

He looks really good. Powerful, fast, and a nice finisher. Its a bit of a pity you signed Ronaldo as I think Cavani is better for the team up front, and there would have been more space for Elanga to play if your squad was smaller. If you could move Martial to Newcastle in January, Elanga looks good enough to take his minutes. Anyway, he looks like he needs first team games soon, even on loan.

The size of your squad: Ole was trying to cut it when he came in but now seems to be gathering and hoarding players. It should be Murtaugh’s job to keep an eye on the squad build, but I get the feeling he doesn’t really have power over OGS.

Didnt he get injured during pre-season?

Where's Martial? Shoretire? Amad? Pellestri? Elanga?

That was Amad. Ole decided to keep Elanga instead of giving him a loan. Not sure where he is going to get any games except for the FA Cup.

Can also see him getting limited play time there since he'd probably start players who sit on the bench like Mata, Lingard and Martial

I think Elanga too was injured for the last part of august and beginning of september. Not sure if that mattered for a loan.

But I think training with Ronaldo and Cavani for a few months will do him good. But I agree, hope he gets a loan in january.

That goal is very reminiscent of a young Martial. Really hope Elanga doesn't get lost in the pack with all the big names we've got, he looks a very good prospect.

It is almost annoying how similar he is to Martial and also Rashford. That will make it difficult for him, but it also seperates him from Shoretire, Elanga and Mejbri who is quite different.

I think what seperates him from Martial and Rashford is his intensity. He also appears to be more of a goalgetter than the two of them.
