I think a lot of people are going to be surprised with the return of Rashford. Before his back injury he was our best player on the field and was almost carrying our team before Bruno came. His back injury and shoulder issues set him back and he is been playing with pain for a while and it affects a lot his perfomance on the field. A painless Rashford is going to be great to have on the team

Him and Shaw is very good together. We now need Sancho to start producing.

But, I cant figure out how to stack Pogba, Greenwood, Cavani, Rashford, Sancho, Lingaard, Bruno, Ronaldo together.

Maybe only play guys with an o together? Or who has two a’s?

Seems logical and fair.

Rashford prior to that shoulder injury or whatever it was, he played like a top 5 player in the world. Not even kidding. That whole stretch towards the end of 2019. He was absolutely unplayable.

Curious what kind of chemistry he can have with Ronaldo..both drift to the left but Rashford has pace, decent physicality, creativity, he just might be our best player to play next to Ronaldo.

Personally I've been wanting to play with 2 strikers since Ronaldo arrived, Ronaldo and Rashford could be the best combination.
We have to find our Mandzukic/Benzema. Rashford isnt exactly that but he has different set of qualities that might work too. Both Rashford and Ronaldo are ideally second strikers now, its their ideal position IMO. One has pace, other has finishing. Think it actually could work really well.

Nice to see him getting minutes. From the reports, he looked sharp, so that's a bonus. Can't wait to see him back in the team.

You might be right but that's not that big of an achievement. I've always maintained that Rashford is more or less a Nani level player who also for a while was maybe the prems best winger.

I do like Rashford a lot but he needs to stop playing like a Bruno and more like an auxiliary player -- then he'll unleash his true power.

Looking forward to his pace. We have zero pace at the moment and it shows

Its definitely a problem that three of our best attackers in Ronaldo, Rashford and Greenwood are all selfish and dont have the best of work rate(Rashford's workrate has dropped immensely).
Probably a direct consequence of the injury though. That's my optimistic guess as Rashford before that fateful Wolves game was an extremely hard worker

As someone has already stated above not only are we missing Rashford but Luke Shaw has gone backwards in this team in his absence. Shaw doesn't look same player with Pogba and Martial for me. Him and Rashford seem to have the best understanding of each others game.

Can't wait to have him back and hopefully then get the best version of Shaw too.

Funny how we still want to behave like a specialised counter attacking side, where one of the main ingredients of that style (pace as you've mentioned) has been severely lacking recently.

Not too long ago there was pace all over the frontline (even Martial was a well known speed merchant), in fact, one might say Greenwood was the least pacy of all. This season, I think he's the fastest! It's no wonder opposing teams feel comfortable throwing numbers forward when they attack us.

Elanga coming through should help a bit with that

Yeah i think it's not just for counter attacking though. We struggle to break down teams because we don't have someone who is a great dribbler. Rashford can at least beat his man with pace which will create space for others and bring us forward.

Half the time we're camped in front of the opposition goal with no idea what to do, making runs one at a time. We're so predictable.

I hope fans will be patient with him when he will struggle to hit his stride
Definitely not going to happen. He hasn’t even kicked a ball this season and we had a thread created on here about Marcus and Masons selfishness hindering the team

Isn't that what Sancho was supposed to be good at? Hopefully he shows more of that when Rashford returns and is shifted out to the right wing.

I think Sancho already showed glimpses of what he is capable off regarding dribbling. Against Everton he beat his man a few times from a standing point.

I would like to see him a bit more on the right to see what he can do on that side. Greenwood started nearly every game so far as our RF so it's totally okay when he starts to get rotated with Rashford, Sancho and maybe even Martial. We shouldn't burn Greenwood out as we did with Rashford.

See how Pep is handling Foden, he is rotated all the time.

It'll be great to have him back, he offers things that nobody else in our squad does.

Rashford has shown us that it's not just about hairstyles, fancy cars, parties and all the other stuff that comes with being a famous athlete. You can take a stand and make a change for your community.

Should the thread title be changed to 'Dr Marcus Rashford MBE'?

England international footballer Marcus Rashford MBE received his honorary doctorate from The University of Manchester today (Thursday 7 October), at a special ceremony which took place at Old Trafford.

True, where as cavani, martial and sancho have a mixture of work rate and unselfishness. I think team players win you more games then selfish players.

Rashford has alot to improve in all-round tactical passing and decision making with and without the ball.
I can't wait to see him improve; my suspicion is because he's so fast and quick it simply will take more time and learning for him to adapt the best approaches consistently.

No doubting the lads will and talent and barring serious injuries, we should see Marcus peak 25-28.
And yes, he will be welcomed back as we do need his fear factor.

Rashford - Ronaldo/Cavani - Greenwood/Sancho
Pogba - Bruno

Frightening if it gels

Genuinely buzzing to see him back and hear the reception he gets, hopefully at every ground.

I find this shit super lame, even if it is Rashford. Applauding him for becoming Dr Rashford without doing any of the work is a bit weird, no?
They don't usually give out honorary doctorates for nothing, Veevers. Rashford's charity work is fully deserving of all the recognition it gets.

There's plenty of more relevant recognitiion for that though, like his MBE.

Ed Sheeran has honorary degree, just for being Ed Sheeran. Jo Brand has one because she was a psyciatric nurse for a bit then went on to be famous. Even Dannii Minogue has one, for services to the entertainment industry. Marcus is probably the most deserving, but still all seems a bit daft. Let's be honest, it's the unis looking for a nice headline.

I think unis do it for a decent guest speaker at graduation.
Both true from my experience working at one. Doesn't Gary have one from University of Salford?
