Some reviews sayiny this is unplayable in hand-held. How's it hold up, or is it a game that needs to be docked?

Last Metroidvania game I played was Hollow Knight - I really do think they’re my favourite sort of game.
I don't play a lot of games so maybe I'm just easily impressed but I played blasphemous a month back and it was amazing. Insane boss and level design and a ton of fun gameplay.

It's like Castlevania but made by mad Spanish Catholics.

to be fair it’s probably more with all the deaths with some of the bosses…..
Ah so it's the length of your save file or something?
That sounds very short though.

Yeah my save file is 9 hour 30 minutes with 60% item completion, so I reckon around the 12 hour mark maybe by the time I’ve found all the other items and finished the last bit of the game? Which to me is fine - not every game needs to be 20/30 hours long.

Think my playtime Is currently around 9 hours.
I’m only about 2 hours in and absolutely loving it, but I worry about the future of 2D Metroid if it’s only 9 hours.

In the age of 50+ hour long games then surely a niche game like Metroid is not going to do well at AAA prices if it’s only 9 hours.

I have mates that jump on anything Nintendo usually but have zero interest in 2D Metroid.

I’ll always fecking love it though.

Not into locations = will not dwell
£50 for a 9 hour 2D game is bananas lads. Bananas.
What. You don't think the developers deserve to be paid and have enough commerce to feed their families? I bet you won't be happy until they're forced to give away their games for free to a bunch of nerds who will happily insult their progeny until they release the inevitable DLC, again for free.

I can understand the complaints about the length, but it seems like such a strange stick to beat it with by saying it's 2d.

2d is the wrong word but it's clearly more AA than AAA. It doesn't seem any more impressive to me than a lot of other great Metroidvania's from the last few years that have been much cheaper.

But it's hardly a surprise, Nintendo will always charge full price for their games, even if it's just a remaster or basic remake like Link's Awakening.
