United spends plenty of money on players. The Glazers don't invest anything. What is being spent is what's left of Uniteds wealth after the owners take their cut. In that sense, they're similar.
That's like comparing the revenue of Tesco with the corner shop though. We've spent second most money in the world since SAF left.

Anyway, I don't want to derail the thread with Glazer talk, my bad.

Just heard on the BBC pod that Bruce has accumulated the same number of points over two seasons as Benitez did. Is that accurate? Amazing if true, given the huge difference in respect they're shown.

What has various newspapers' differing stances on the second Iraq war 18 years ago got to do with distaste for the Newcastle takeover?
Stop wumming.
It's because the same papers were the cheerleaders in the illegal invasion of Iraq. The mess up in Libya and Syria.
I am not English so I don't care what they do so long as they don't interfere in others business and stop moralizing others.
It stopped being an English clubs from the moment they let's foreigners buy clubs.

Its personal branding. Brucey is perceived to be the Geordie Allardyce.

So if a pro-establishment paper (eg the DM/Tel) supported a war in 2003, sports journos at said papers can't criticise the Saudis buying a premier league club in 2021? That seems an argument underpinned by watertight logic.

It has got nothing to do with Saudis buying. It is the hypocrisy of the white man can do anything but others can't do it. The Saudis are a nasty lot but so have the British and the Americans too.

It's a strange thread to post about the Iraq war in, in that case.

They can take Pogba, Martial, Fred and Lindelof off our hands for starters.
Next season they can realistically get the want away world class front 3 of Haaland, Kane and Mbappe.

For midfield, Pogba, Rice, Bellingham.

For defense, Jules Kounde and Pau Torres.

They will be shopping at the higher end than our 2nd strings.

City weren't great but garbage is a stretch, we still had a core of Given, Hart, Kompany, Dunne, De Jong, SWP, Sturridge, Elano, Micah Richards, Zabalata, Bellamy who are all better than what Newcastle have at the moment
Tbf city was very respectable before that take over. Hated but respectable. Similiar to newcastle now. A lot of mismanagement handicapped the club, up until the take over. I hope the newcastle city psg takeovers will put these oil oligarchs under massive media attentions and it backfires so much so that they actually have to reform a little. Hope when this kinda scandals pop up the fans of state backed clubs rise up a little spread some awareness. Never gonna happen. But here's is to hoping.

Wow. Directly to PM huh Basically one day when this oil clubs representatives have seats higher up in FA, UEFA and FIFA, they can influence the european and world decisions according to their whims. Protesting clubs may get longer bans and more fines, point deductions or so i guess.

By that logic virtually no one could criticise anything ever as most people live in glass houses of one form or another.
Oh criticism is fair, but the outrage to an extent where some are saying that's them done with football etc sounds ridiculous to me where the very competition is held in a country that's committed atrocities for centuries.

You get people on here saying "I'm done with football" if the ref doesn't spot a foul throw against Man United. Nobody believes them then and nobody believes them now.

I feel sorry for Bruce, he does not deserve all the hate and abuse from those stupid fans, he worked miracles in keeping this toilet shit of a squad in the PL. I hope they get relegated.

If money was an issue for Mbappe he wouldn't be wanting to leave PSG. He wants to go to Real Madrid because no matter how much money clubs have, Real are still the biggest club in the world. Kane wants to leave Spurs to win trophies as he is 28 now, he won't be winning any trophies at Newcastle for a couple of years yet.

  Can't believe I missed this. It's laughable because this shouldn't be true, but it's even more laughable because this can't be anything other than true.

As a wise man eloquently and tastefully said earlier last week in the Mo Salah thread:

This isn't any small billionaire country ruler. This is the biggest shit out there, literally and literally. He, Bin Salman, will shit in our mouths and we will have to say it's great.

Heck if he can shit in our mouths about a clear cut case of international murder, who the feck are FIFA, PL, etc? Not even a dodgy car accident, or poisoning. Just walk into an embassy and chop the poor guy up.

But yeah, FFP...ooooh.

Kind of like Ranieri in a way, but at least Chelsea gave him a season before they gave him the boot, in which he did kind of OK, finished 2nd behind the invincibles and took us to the CL semis. Chelsea fans loved him though.

Bruce not getting even get a single game under this new ownership is brutal

Oh that's great.

I get the point you're trying to make but those people probably don't know about or associate themselves with atrocities committed in the past and certainly not hundreds of years ago. We're talking about football in 2021 here, football.

Again the logic doesn't really make sense, basically you are saying no one (even non British people) should ever comment on something they perceive to be wrong or immoral going on in the England because the British Government/Military committed atrocities in the past.

Like what's the connection?

People were also appalled when Abramovich took over Chelsea, not everything relates to race. Are you suggesting people should welcome Saudi regime washing on these shores?

Hes done a shite job and they're rightly fecking him off at the first opportunity
Finishing 12th with this shitty squad a shitty job? you are not being serious. This set of players does not belong in the premier league, but magically he gets them to the 12th spot last season.

Brutal within the scopes of football, obviously.
Not sure which dictator it was, I think Saddam, that used to personally beat the national team with a wooden stick for not qualifying to WC. So "brutal within scopes of football" has a certain ambivalence to it as well.
