I have a friend whose father is connected with the Glazers. She knows them and their kids. They actually go to her father for advice on things for Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I can forward her advice from the caf to forward to her dad, and he can advise them further. I already mentioned that we need a better manager and to sign a defensive midfielder. What else can be added?

Could you ask them to buy Mike phelan some long trousers for Winter cant bare seeing his legs in them shorts any longer. Thanks

Look at lineups from two years ago, and the mental state of the club. Now look at our bench, and how focused the club is, then look at results achived given the car crash Mourinho left.

Of course we want things to go faster. But, we where also top of the league in january last season. You dont win things normaly out of nowhere.
Ive pointed this out so many times. He’s not our director. He’s our manager. In the same time frame Conte has come and left Inter with a Serie A title. He’s failing in comparison to what he has spent.

Common sense can only be applied for obvious situations. If you think winning a trophy is only determined by the manager, then there is nothing else I can say regarding this.

Like I said, your lot have already decided that Ole is the wrong choice right from the start and based on your own emotions. It does not matter if he gets a trophy or not, nothing will change your opinion since you are fixated on Ole being sacked at all costs.
No it’s a mixed bag obviously. But if you think the 99 team wins the treble without Fergie you are crazy.

So I have to ask is it possible to win trophies if the level of manager is not of w certain standard?

I’ll answer it for you. List the managers to have won the EPL and you have your answer. So people that won’t be satisfied even if Ole wins I’d like to think they are basing it on rational probabilities. Meaning it’s due to a high level of managerial skill set.. how do you compare that? Well again.. look at the list of managers who have won a EPL.

Why do people always ask me these dumb questions. I don’t think Ole is good enough whether we win or not it as nothing to do with me being a Manchester United fan.

I was watching replays of Tottenham Vs Arsenal and I was wondering how wonderful it would be to see Wenger coaching the England national team.

Making that Arsenal team look really fluid, players like Chamackh play above their level.

Then I thought just out of interest- to the people who so badly want Ole out - if the only option was Wenger in, would you take it as a way of getting Ole out?
Absolute not. Wenger's arse was fun to watch 2 decades ago. Then he went into free fall after trying to imitate Barca. I don't think Ole can take his further, but we sure as feck can do a lot worse than him. His predecessors proved that.

I still believe (hope) the next manager appointment is a coach that has taken their club far in the Champions League in recent seasons and has won league titles. The board are yet to try this type of appointment, rather bizarrely. Mourinho was / is a has-been when he was appointed.

Mourinho won the PL in 14-15, was sacked in Dec 15 and appointed Manchester United manager May 16

So you're arguing that it somehow took 1 season of football for the Premier League manager of the year and Premier League trophy winner to go from that, to a has been.

I'm willing to argue that's a bit silly to say.

Mourinho has been on a steady decline as a top manager since his sacking at Chelsea. That is obvious.

If we end up in the Europa League then we'll win it. We'd have the best squad to ever grace that competition.
Like last year, and we lost the final to a team that cost less than Fred to assemble.

What makes you think that won’t happen again?

Well if your only interpretation of the word competitive is trophies without paying any attention to the context, then its quite obvious that you have decided that Ole is the wrong choice based on your own emotions rather than facts. Its like you are waiting for him to fail terribly so that you can use the word "I told you so".

Even if Ole were to win trophies this season, i highly doubt you will be happy as your ego of making sure Ole fails, will not let you enjoy the club's achievements. Its useless to put forward any argument if all of you refuse to review how Ole has made the squad competitive.
Are you for real?
I have said numerous times I wish he would prove us all wrong and win the league, but I don't think he will.
The fact is he has spent over £400 million and had nearly 3 years of building his own team, molding it into his style of play and yet we still dont look anything like a team, rather a collection of very good players who sometimes hit the heights, but with no consistancy.
Its a forum and can't we all have a difference of opinion without some clown trying to analyse the mindset of who doesn't agree with their doctrine?

Yes, it is possibel. Tuchel won CL with Chelsea as well. My point is that it is not normal, and something you can expect. It is high risk, high reward and equaly big downside.

People here fail to understand that things could have been much worse now as well.

Is there any club in recent memory (one that is nearly as large as ours) that has gone into a massive decline because of a few manager appointments? Some people seem to be scared that if we finally fire Ole things would get worse and wouldn't ever recover or something. Of course things could get worse, but they won't ever stay that way. The club is worth too much money and the owners invest too much into the matchday squad (only thing they invest in really) to become Leeds or something. Hiring managers is never going to be a sure thing. Some people here seem like they're fine never winning anything useful as long as we keep finishing 4th or something. it's such a weird mentality for a club that has won so much in recent memory. Take the chance, sack the mediocre/bad manager and put someone in charge that knows how to win. If that fails, repeat. Every other club in world football operates that way, we aren't special.

Well. Maybe if we did not spend on Pellestri, Amad, Van de Beek and cut losses and earned a coin for surplus like Lingard, Mata, Bailly, Henderson, Jones, Dalot, Tunanzebe, Pereira, Martial, Chong and so on.. we would have a world class CDM and another one where ever on the pitch. That might also be a better route, with lower risk, to a trophy.

Yet he won the PL with Chelsea. What does that tell you? Maybe that it takes more than a name and money to win? Maybe there is context? Maybe the combination of manager, team, club, board, opposition and luck matter too?

With the team we have, we should be one of the favourites in the CL, let alone the EL. Hopefully it doesn't come to it but it would take some feat to fail in the EL again unless there were some seriously good teams in there with us.

If we fall into the Europa League, that will be the end of the road for Ole just like when Chelsea kicked Di Matteo out.

Speaking about a potential candidate for the job, I hope Zinedine Zidane is not foolish to sit out and wait for the France job because Didier Deschamps definitely ain't going anywhere at all with the way he pulled that France team on the up to win something again despite a very disappointing Euro. Unless Deschamps says "no más" himself or unless something major happens to lead into a sacking, I can see him staying at the helm for nearly as long as Joachim Löw did with Germany. Zidane better find himself another high-profile job soon, and ours could well become available if we feck up the next few weeks.

I will reply to you and Mainoldo together.

If you want to decide whether Ole is good or not, you have to pay attention to the context which is the squad's overall quality, in-game events (injuries, red card etc) and his tactics/ gameplay management. It is as simple as that.

If you are unable to analyze or you are only interested in the end product which is trophies, that is fine. However the problem is that your lot have decided that Ole is not good enough without any attention to the context. I have noticed that your lot is more interested in pointing out any negative results and throwing the blame on him. When positive results happen, you are also quick to attribute the positives to anything else but Ole. And all this happens without looking at why the results happened. This mindset is equivalent to one that is of emotional judgment.

Well, when ETH came to us he brought Alfred Schreuder (currently assistant manager at Barca) with him as his second man who was seen by many as the tactical mastermind and someone who was important as connection between the squad and ETH as he was good with the players (e.g. someone like Ziyech who was considered a difficult personality loved him). Currently, his assistants include people like Michael Reiziger, Richard Witschge, Winston Bogarde, and also Christian Poulsen before he left ... ALL ex-players from Ajax. And I also remember a funny story when ETH was linked with Spurs, so I don't think that Carrick would necessarily have to fear for his job if Man Utd would ever want to sign ETH if the following was true ;)

Valentijn Driessen, chief football writer for the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf has claimed that Tottenham were left surprised during their discussions with Ten Hag after he allegedly revealed that he had no plans to bring any of his current backroom staff with him to North London.

Driessen said as quoted by Voetbal Zone: “Which they found very strange at Spurs , and we think it is very normal in the Netherlands that if you get a trainer you only get one trainer, but with the English you get a whole staff: a physiotherapist, doctor, assistant trainer, goalkeeper coach.

“You just enter there with a whole group. So they also asked him: who are you taking with you? Yes, nobody. They don’t know that there. He wanted Sjors Ultee, that name had also been mentioned. But you normally go there with a whole group.”
Does Ten Hag conduct his own training? Its becoming more evident that our coaching staff are pretty weak in terms, of, well, coaching.

We are both going off what we see surely. I look at it from a manager who is clearly not good enough, someone who has taken us from 6/10 to 8/10, but wont get us to 10/10 despite spending a fortune and having genuine WC players in.
Your mind is set on Ole the playing legend, you turn a blind eye to all the negatives and look at the odd games we score a lot of goals and win. You look at 3rd and 2nd as a fact of progression, which compared to the last 3 managers is, but look past the fact we were miles away from challenging for the title and look to still be struggling. You look at all the good players he has bought, but cant assemble into a consistant winning team after nearly 3 years in the job.
We will have to agree to disagree, which is fine as it is a forum.

Was Pellegrini or Ranieri good enough? Was numerous other managers that won trophies? He’s not Manchester United level. Well if we want to be the best in England.

But you think what you like.

Well. No. We where 6th. then 3rd. and then 2nd. So..in my book Ole has this season to get us playing. And by that I mean 75 points, CL playoff and a genereally positive development of our play. Next season he has to be constant in the race for the title, if not, he has then had his time.

Btw. history is full of teams who are «too good to go down». You just have a very selective memory.

Btw#2. Spend is always going to be relative to your competitors. And, spend, manager, or club history for that matter, is just a few metric’s of at least 30 - that makes a trophy winning team. To win —what has biggest impact of these to metrics: %injury on key players or changing a manager who has beaten all the other top managers?

I thought this season he is supposed to challenge for the title especially with Varane, Sancho and Ronaldo signings. The goal post shifted again? Suddenly, next year is the year.

Forget about title challenge, the most pressing issue now is our negative football. We are being outplayed by many team this season already and we haven't even play any big team yet. This is depressing.

As you have said 3rd 2nd has a fantastic squad, so he should win it this season. Cavani will be gone, and more than likely Pogba. Martial, VDB, Lingard, Bailley, Lindelof, Telles, Dalot, all squad players that maybe be gone as well. This is the strongest season with the strongest squad.

Did I say that he should not be challenging? I just said that 75 points is some sort of a minimum this year, regardless of the postion it will give us.

The football will be fine soon enough. Dont worry.

So you're willing to accept 1 more point than last season after signing 2 WC players and a potential one? And regardless of the position? So if we finish 5th with 75 points which isn't impossible you'll see that as a successful season?

I know you didnt and Im not having a go at you personally. The point im making is after £400 million 2 WC players bought as well plus a young winger at £74 million we needed apparently, although doesnt get picked, why isnt it this year. Its always next year. Next year it will be the year after because we need to buy xxxx. Why does it take years at this club to be in transition? 8 years now and counting, coming up to 3 with the present lot.

Exactly. It is always the next year. Next year we will have a year older Ronaldo and Cavani, very likely a midfield without Pogba, VdB. Lingard and Mata will also be gone I reckon. Each and every team out there needs some strengthening every bloody year. You need to draw a line somewhere, otherwise it is an endless circle, really.
