We all know someone who's shit at his/her job. Normally it's because of laziness, lack of focus or just being a bit dim. But Ole doesn't look like he's lazy and you don't have to be a particularly bright individual to manage a football club - I mean most of them are ex-footballers.

How is he genuinely that bad?

It's not really his job, he's the PR manager for the Glazers and he seems to be doing well there.

How can he be this bad?

Because he is a Molde manager who got Cardiff relegated and we expect his to magically have the skills for this?

Cardiff was out of his depth. This is another planet.

Because he’s just not that good. Probably. I mean this was the same manager who relegated Cardiff and apart from that managed Molde. He hardly had the CV of an elite coach.

He did well with what he knew how to do — steer the ship, instilled something back in the side, and got rid of the toxicity.

Expecting more beyond that is just genuinely above his ability level

Look at his managerial record, if he wasn’t an ex player, he would never have been mentioned in a list as a potential Utd manager

It's a very tough job. At any given point there are only a handful of managers good enough to manage United.

Solskjaer ultimately proving he isn't one of them isn't a surprise. It's what you would (on paper) have expected.

He succeeded in Norway and failed with Cardiff. That's his level.

Mourinho created a toxic cloud and Solksjaer benefited from the club needing some cosy nostalgia but that cosy nostalgia turned into a depression blanket after 3 years of him.

Possibly you're underestimating the size of the task. Actually, you certainly are.

The best managers are brilliant people and intelligent. There is absolutely no doubt about that. They pick up languages if needed, they understand how to connect with people, they can see through the noise and make decisions that most can only see in hindsight. Let's be honest, most of us on here are complete bullshitters that make obvious observations that are never tested.

New contract syndrome.

This happened when he signed his first deal too

Tbf the performances have been hidden by clutch goals for a long time. Rashford and the likes have bailed him out for far too long.

Sack Ole
Don't extend Pogba
Buy two central midfielders
Hire a tactically skilled manager with his staff
Replace AWB

He lost the job imo. Conte would be huge headlines and etc etc etc. maybe Ole can come back in five years with more experience. My hat off to him for taking this job and giving it a go.

Because the number of managers who have what it takes to manage at the highest level is infinitesimal.

The fact that Ole doesn't have what it takes shouldn't be a surprise - the vast, vast majority of managers aren't qualified at this level either.

When did you realize this? Why weren't you there when supporters like me been saying this for awhile?

I feel that he is just incompetent when it comes to coaching. He went from molde, and failed at Cardiff to Manchester United. He never had the right qualifications for the job and whoever hired him should be sacked as well for poor judgements

I genuinely can't think of a worse manager in the entire league than him. Maybe Bruce but when it comes to style of play the both of them are equally horrible.

Well, hardly surprising given he's not done anything in his managerial career to deserve even the Spurs job, let alone the Utd one.

For a club that believes in spending millions to upgrade players, we seem to think a manager is some kind of ambassadorial role that means nothing.

I know you are fuming, so am i, but do we really need a new thread for this?
Allow people to create whatever threads they feel like.
Perhaps that is his way of dealing with the frustration.

He doesn't have the mentality yet to lead a club to glory. Too much pressure on him made him sign players which we didn't really need rather than address midfield issues. He wanted to be popular rather than take tough decisions.

I don't see him being a good manager, he did a good job rebuilding the squad but that's as far as it gets.

Football management is a specific skill and not related to playing ability or “passion” for the club. Ole is not that good at it, as should have been obvious from his career before United.

How can a manager that relegated Cardiff be this bad...is this a serious question?
