We get a world class player who is still at top level. 36 years old oozing experience, played under the best managers there is, full of enthusiasm and now finding himself being a part of a team full of talent yet producing so little. A bunch of world class players in disharmony who cannot play together! I can see him having a big influence in our manager's nearest future. Views on this!

Well cant see him taking up the role of player manager though. Imagine if that’s the case, game plan would be like always passing the ball to him, which might actually not be bad idea, given our current situation.

He very likely will. I can easily see him moaning about this to SAF, who in turn attempts to do something about it. I just hope we don't wind up with Darren Fletcher as our caretaker for the next 7 months.

Still glad he's not at City but also feel we brought him back just to waste his final productive years. Ole will get to the end of the season and Ronaldo will lose 8 months of his final years to a fruitless endeavor. Here's hoping there's plenty left for the next manager to work with.

No, a player would not have that big a sway even if it is Ronaldo

What changed for Ole, are the expectations, when he decided to sign Ronaldo. Folks expect us to win, and win now

We've gotten even worse as a unit since his arrival, which speaks volumes of terrible job Ole and his coaches have done

Already starting to get Alexis Sanchez vibes from Ronaldo. A signing meant to elevate the team to next level ends up being the end of the manager. Sanchez fecked up Mourinho and Ronaldo might end up doing the same to Ole.

Yes and rightly so. We are so content with average shit being served week and week out. If that rude awakening can be provided by a 36 year old champion, then be it.

Ole should have been sacked long ago.

Or Scholes maybe? Does he have the paperwork...

Glasgow resident these days.
I know he’s scored some big goals but anyone else feel he just doesn’t do enough? He doesn’t track back, he doesn’t really make himself available unless inside the box. If he’s been told to do that, then he’s brilliant at it. But we look a less effective team with him in it.
Ole should have pulled him today but didn’t

Ronaldo never play pressing football for 10-15 years, back to EPL, all strikers need to press from front, which you do not expect him to do so, he keen to score.

Team have to change formation which suitable for him to play, otherwise do not sign him, as simple as that.

Signing him meaning you have to build up your team with 37 years old striker, as simple as that.

Never thought Ole wanted him, club and SAF decision imo. Feel for him but I guess a bigger manager just says no

He was everywhere today but there was very little space.

It is hilarious how we were all in sync before the transfer window started that we needed 3 signings: CB, RW and especially a central midfielder. What did we do instead? Bought a 36 year-old immobile, defensively unbothered and selfish striker on 450,000 per week net just to ruin our whole balance of the team.

Ole is absolutely clueless and has to go but Ronaldo was absolutely not a good signing for any manager I'm afraid.

I said it when you signed Ronaldo. He is the nail in the coffin, but for other reasons. He simply offers too little nowadays to build a team around him. Ole made many mistakes but his biggest one was agreeing to Ronaldos return IMO.

Couldn't give a shit about Ronaldo.

Yes, he might be the nail in the coffin.
And i ain't talking about Ole's future, i'm talking about Ole's today.

We seem disjointed, the honeymoon phase ended and it's becoming a problem.

We're not fluid enough, he doesn't press....we could go on and on.

And, i'm not sold that he was Ole's wish.
He was available, we didn't want him to go to shitty etc etc....

But, to answer your question - yes, he's influenced enough to do it - and that just might be the best thing he does in his return.

Get Ole sacked.

I thought Pogba fecked up Mourinho. Or was it Luke Shaw?

Does anything think Ole knows how to win a league or any trophy at all with a world class squad?

The answers no at this point and the board and the Glazers need to act.

They'll just be sitting themselves at making the right decision this time after the backlash with moving to a Super League.

The right call is to sack Ole and get a better manager in now.

I am grateful you didn't sub him, all he did for you was a few offsides, he didn't get stuck in or anything so you were effectively a man down.

What happened to Cavani, he always been a menace when used against us?

Yes, but not for the reasons you said. We can't afford to carry a passenger for 80+ minutes of a 90 minute game.

Ronaldo, Sancho and Varane could be. We've just had a brilliant transfer window and still often look clueless and outcoached by other managers. It's clear as day that 'backing Ole' isn't going to bring us success.

Ole was always going to end as a manager who didn't achieve any big wins. All it was going to take was enough quality being signed in the squad so that he couldn't keep hiding behind the excuse of needing better players to produce something resembling a coherent team. This last summer on the whole probably sped it up, not just Ronaldo, but one of the best CB's in the world and one of the most promising young attackers in the world.

Ronaldo feels more of a destabilizing influence rather than a good mesh with the group.

The reason I'm saying that is purely because he benches Cavani. Cavani puts in a significantly better shift than Ronaldo does. While Ronaldo is the more lethal striker.

He's scored goals, but otherwise contributes little outside of isolated pockets, leaving teammates to pick up the slack a maximum effort striker like Cavani so succesfully put in last season.

Having Ronnie home is a dream, but it may be a bittersweet return.

No Sanchez was the beginning of it. Our team was balanced before he arrived. When he came Mourinho fecked up the team selection trying to shoehorn him into the main lineup on the left and fecking up Martial and Rashford positions. Tactically wise Sanchez unbalanced the entire team.

We're now having the same problem with Ronaldo. A 36 years old striker who barely even runs anymore. Our attackers were used to playing with a mobile striker who presses, runs and shares in the build up, now we have someone who wants everything to be served to him inside the box. I love Ronaldo but that's how he's now. It unbalanced our attack completely. We have been a mess tactically because our attackers are unable to link with hi,.

It's not that simple because the alternative was him going to City which was unthinkable.
Yep agree him signing was a brilliant feelgood moment, but I reckon he'd have probably caused City the same issues on the pitch as well as likely ruling them out for Haaland, whereas now they look front runners

I wonder if it's a City strategy to show interest in players we end up buying who make us a worse team.

I've wondered what the OP is eluding to as well, seems our best periods under Ole were when we had a less than stellar players, as the quality of players we've brought in has improved the results seem to have got worse/more inconsistent

Look at our record against the traditional top 6 during those first 18 months in the job vs last season

This season thus far has just been something else though and if you're Varane, Ronaldo, & Sancho you're probably wondering WTF you've done coming here and if you're Pogba and Bruno you'll not be in a rush to be signing any new contracts to stay here any longer

Dark times ahead

He would have been good at City. I think that scared us into a panic buy. Sanchez Mkii.

The game against Southampton before Ronaldo played for us went similar to most of our pl performances so far. He left one shot midfield for another. It doesn't help that we keep conceding from school boy errors.

Mourinho did not need Sanchez to mess him up, he’d already failed at other teams without Sanchez. With regards to Ole, the cracks were already appearing long before Ronaldo arrived. Many were baffled he was offered a 3 year deal, as well as the manner in which it was discreetly announced right after the Sancho signing.

The problem under Ole is, the better the players we sign the worse our team plays. So Ronaldo could be the nail in the coffin in that sense.
