Even though they lost, fans staying behind, players lap of applause, great to see.

I agree but a clean sheet away to Brentford with none of our first choice back 3 is a fantastic result. Brentford were quality.
Yeah, I'd agree with that. They also played very well against Liverpool. They're a very good team. I'm sure their fans are extremely proud of how they've played so far in the PL.

Plucky little Chelsea get famous win at Brentford.

Have to credit Brentford though, look at their results and general play so far and it's pretty much top 6 standard. Reminds me of Sheffield United a few seasons ago. Confidence is huge in football sometimes no matter what the resources are.

Brentford put us under more pressure with 11 men than Liverpool did when we were down to 10 men for an entire half.

That’s as much a compliment as you can give. They were fantastic.

If Kepa was in goal, this could have been 4-1 to Brentford
Doesn't quite work like that. If they had scored, the momentum may have swung the other way as Chelsea also tried to chase a goal.

I am just astonished how Brentford turned up the screw. From 3 shots around 70 minutes to 17 shots at the end, with 7 on target. Played really well against Liverpool too, and Toney is a handful.

We dominated the first 65 minutes. Brentford somehow flicked a switch and upped the intensity by 1000% and we just couldn't handle it. Not sure how they didn't score at least once.
You did not dominate anything. You had slightly better chances, one of which you finished. The rest was boring penetration-less football.

I heard Brentford were missing a few players through injury? I know Chelsea have injured/tired players too but that'$ diff€r€nt gravy to Brentford.

His positioning is spot on. His saves aren't like DDG (full stretch jumps i mean) most of the time but he anticipates things so well
I totally agree. When he first signed I genuinely thought he was getting lucky as he was often positioned where the shot was placed. I kept thinking if the shot was placed to the opposite side he has gambled incorrectly but still he keeps making these decisions and saving us in times of need. I love the guy. Going from Kepa to Mendy is like going from Ashley Barnes to Zlatan.

That's your opinion. I disagree. I think we were very dominant until midway through the second half and we had the chances to be at least 2-0 up before Brentford took over.

I would argue Brentford created more clear cut chances against you than even Man City did. That's the real compliment.

Brentford should really have scored instead of hitting the post in the first half. 2-1. Then boring penetration-less football. :)

Honestly I felt like what you described in your first sentence for a while but it took a while to understand the same thing happening over and over wasn't just luck

If playing badly and winning means anything... totally lost control of the game when Kovacic went off. Attack didn't click properly again. Don't know how to get best from Lukaku yet. Amazing shot stopping performance from Mendy, he's not great with feet though. RLC was solid.

Missed Silva, Jorgjnho calm leadership to keep some kind of control. That is big difference with Liverpool game.

I know you're part trolling and part being serious most of the time, but boring penetration-less football is not how I'd describe us. Compared what you watched Liverpool do this morning, yeah of course it is, but ...

That type of win with missing players against a team full of fight keeps you at the top!! Sarr shocked me. He really played solid.

Mendy was amazing.

We miss an out ball who can run at players. Pulisic is made of glass unfortunately.

I don’t think I’d be paying any attention to a scouser. He’s sobbing uncontrollably right now.

Big 3 points for Chelsea, Brentford definitely deserved something from the game but you need to admire Chelsea's resilience.

And yet another Brentford performance that shows those laughing at Arsenal first game of the season might need a rethink, as they are a tough team & ground to visit.

The last sentence is a good point, you were missing a few players in that game too. Brentford are definitely going to take some points of the big teams at home this season.
It's like having Tony Pulis Stoke back in the premier league.

So you came away from watching them today being reminded of Tony Pulis' Stoke? Baffling.

I said "like" because of the long throws and the long balls and the physicality.

@Dumbstar you are spot on fella, we were missing one of our first choice centre backs Ajaer and two of our first choice midfielders in Janelt and Baptiste.

My take on the game is that Chelsea dominated the first half possession wise but created very little with the ball. The best midfield and defence we have come up against so far and what a player Kante is - I would put them above Liverpool as title contenders on yesterday's showing. Although I'd have loved to have seen our first choice midfield go up against them. Last 30 minutes we absolutely battered them and can't believe we didn't score but when their keeper is making worldies with his face it probably isn't your day!

Comparisons to Stoke and Tony Pulis are lazy and unnecessary in my opinion, we are a good footballing team that emphasise on attacking football we play to win, we don't play to draw or not to lose. We are also happy to mix it up in terms of leveraging long throws when necessary and going direct. Not sure what so called "big club's" fans expect - at the moment we get all this rubbish about Tony Pulis, Stoke, it was our worst performance of the season etc. Sometimes it is ok to admit you've come up against a team that has played very well and stopped you doing the same - even if we are just a bus stop in Hounslow...

A word on some of the Chelsea fans though - very brave throwing coins at our fans and peppering kids and women, proper scum.

I never said you didn't play well you did, i also said i think you will get points of the big teams at home this season which you didn't mention.
You obviously know more than me as you watch Brentford week in week out. I have only seen Brentford play 3 games this season. I have seen in those 3 games, lots of long throws, long balls, lots diagonal long balls to the back post.
Im not criticising Brentford for playing like that.

Wasn't having a go at you specifically fella, tbh more a general point on what I am seeing from other team's fans and to be fair you did mention Tony Pullis. ;)

Without knowing too much about Brentford in the past, the impression was that you were always a very decent football team but could lack dig at vital moments of the season.

What I'm certainly seeing this season is a team that can still play good football, but matched with a physicality & athleticism that I certainly didn't know you had, & that will stand you in very good stead over the course of a season, because it allows you to still dig in & be in a game if you aren't playing that well, & that's something that a team like Norwich lack for instance.

This is a very good analysis of the evolution of the team in the last 3 years to be honest you sure you haven't been sneakily watching us as light relief from Arsenal's troubles? :)

We needed to add some steel/physicality to go along with the nice football in order to get out of the Championship. Bringing in Brian Riemer to organise our defensive play and recruiting Pontus Jansson, Ethan Pinnock and Norgaard started to give us that physicality on the pitch.

Pretty big match for Everton here. It really puts them in a position to move towards Europe next season with a win here considering united’s drop off. I didn’t realise a win here would give them their best start in 30 years.
