I got banned on Resetera, again. The mods there are a humourless lot. To say the least.

Really enjoying Immortal Phoenix Rising. It's surprisingly hard to put down. Exploration is good and the puzzles are all interesting enough.

Since PS plus is reaping feck all rewards these days I've gone ahead and bought TLoU2 as my second game. Please don't be bad (considering the mixed reviews).

I was also giving Amnesia Dark Descent a go from my Ps plus backlog. I know it's old but anybody here like it? First hour was interesting enough.

Any story telling single player games I can play on PC?

Liking those more nowadays more than multiplayer games.

Witcher 3 (Top 3)
The Last of Us (ps4 days)
Infamous 2 Second Son (ps4 days)
Horizon Zero Dawn (ps4 days)
Jedi Fallen Order

I tried Control and got bored within an hour.
Have Nioh downloaded but not tried that yet.

Also, games that allow you to play with time are okay (not a must).

Metro Exodus enhanced edition is fantastic on a decent spec pc and a decent story driven FPS

Disco Elysium is different in gameplay to those listed, and has already made its way to console, but since you started off with SP story telling games I had to mention it.

Why!? I had to replace my ps4 dual shock because of the drift issue again and had ti go a week without gaming and it was NOT GOOD.
Just got fed up with gaming.

Having sold my PS4 I do need to find a blu-ray player now though. Doh!

Finished Alan Wake. Alan Wake is a thing about darkness, light, a missing spouse, guilt, writer's block, a deeply annoying best friend, poltergeists, the transformative and transcending power of the human imagination, and Viking metal...

....nope, didn't understand any of that. God i'm dumb! Interesting game, just wish i'd pay a bit more attention to the plot instead of zoning out or running things over repeatedly with my car.

Yeah it's as much about the story as it is anything else, but the gameplay and little touches do match up.

I'm not sure it's deep enough to confuse though mate

No, it's 100% on me you're right  my attention span is shocking at the moment and I just don't think I was in the mood. It didn't help that I really started to like the gameplay more from chapter 3 onwards after really hating it at first and just being irritated by everything. I regret not playing it with a better mindset.

House of Ashes next on the 22nd.

Yeah there's something weirdly drawing about the gameplay as it goes on, even though it never changes. The setting and charm sold me on it all though way more than the story and any kind of meaning behind it. Anyway, Control kind of pisses on any depth that may have been there anyway, so I wouldn't worry too much. I will say though, the sequel/DLC American Nightmare is highly recommended by me and I'm disappointed it's not part of this remaster shite.

I actually didn’t like American Nightmare much. It just felt way too different in tone from the base game (though I realise it was deliberate). And the repeating events were annoying after a while.

I quite liked what I saw of Control from the Let’s Play I watched, though it’s one of those games where I enjoyed the story and atmosphere without developing any sort of attachment to the characters (maybe with the slight exception of Dr Darling). Alan Wake the character is a bit of a dick but I still connected with him better.

Finished House of Ashes. A lot better than the previous two in the dark pictures anthology. Still pretty ridiculous though and I get the feeling they're not quite going to strike gold again like they did with Until Dawn. Still, it was an improvement and i'm looking forward to the final one next year if it gets made.

Finally decided to pick up Smash. Wanted a simple game to play to clear my mind in between studying rather than the usual RPG’s that I play. It’s taking a while to download but I’m pretty excited to get into it.

Almost finished Amnesia Dark Descent. Been really enjoyable. It was sitting in my library for ages and I'm glad I gave it a go.

I've heard that machine for pigs isnt very good.

Anybody played AI: Somnium Files? It's a Japanese adventure/visual novel game where you investigate a serial killer in a near-future Tokyo who removes people eyes. There's lots of heavy sci-fi concepts, most of which make no sense.

The writing is, uh, very Japanese for lack of a better word, but the character interaction evinces much mirth.

I'm only 4 hours in so far and enjoying it a lot :)

It's a very different kind of game to the original and most of the criticism comes from it abandoning the shit your pants horror ideals.

It's made by the same people who made Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, which I think says a lot if you've played it, and is basically a walking sim, but the atmosphere and story are really good, a lot like a Victorian gothic novel.

It also has a proper jolly old knees up ending song:

Every time I replay Resident Evil 4 after years away from it I seem to have a different opinion. Having an absolute blast playing it again but it's such a bizarre game.

Forgot what to do to save Ashley at one point and she kept screaming "Help" for ten damn minutes...urghhh, that voice

Started playing ghost recon breakpoint the other day.

I love the shooting, drones and even the feel of the movement tbh. It's a shame it's got other issues as travelling from A to B is boring as feck. Enemies aren't all that great, you kill too many along the way, instead of getting to the place and it being a challenge where you had to plan your attack.

I think I preferred Wildlands tbh, they're both decent enough games. Definitely better with mates. Playing breakpoint solo though as got no mates with it on ps5.

I've tried both modes, one mode is with all the HUD and waypoints, the other is without it all which is a million times better, much more difficult tbh.

I actually feel my AI squad are sometimes too good  they don't miss their shots and wipe out half the compound while I'm dicking about picking stuff up.

I was wondering if someone would mention this. I've played a fair chunk of it and have enjoyed most of it so far. It's very clever the way different paths are necessary and open up extra investigations in previous paths (although only in a linear way unfortunately). The writing is as Japanese as it gets, but it somehow stayed on the funny side to me although some of it was on the edge.

I'm quite a way in and haven't played it for a few days now as it seems to me pretty obvious who was involved and how so I'm just waiting for the story to play out. I need to get it finished.

Oh man it's so good but also really difficult to talk about without giving anything away

I don't have a clue who's the killer(s?) as it stands.

Yeah, it's impossible to say any of the story as it switches so much.

I maybe further than you, but the bit that made me think I knew what was going on was learning something about the Psync machine...don't think that's giving anything away. I'm probably way off anyway, the story has a twist about every 30 minutes

Ooo I've definitely not reached that part. Expecting something good now!

I wonder, and no spoilers here because it's very early on, but did you notice that when first you go to Iris/Hitomi's house that it's the same location as the very first dream Date has in the introduction? It's so obvious but I'm still waiting for the game to reveal its importance...

I picked up on that and I'm sure it will have some relevance. There's bits in that scene which still haven't been explained where I am in the story and they will have to I think. It's a very underrated game, but I guess it is linear.

I finished my second playthrough of the Outer Wilds. The ending the first time around stuck with me and, although I found the game frustrating in places controls-wise, I thought that it might be worth playing through again to see if it would resonate more that time around. I can safely say that it did and it's probably one of my favourite games ever now. Beautiful game with a wonderful ending. It's very well crafted and so much heart has gone into this. Gorgeous soundtrack and visuals, but the entire concept as a whole is very clever. It's a masterpiece.

I've started Echoes of the Eye and the vibe for that game is different. It's more like a sequel rather than DLC. Creep as feck in so many places. I'm really enjoying it. Again, well put together and very, very intriguing.

Incredible game. One of the best of this generation and it would possibly make my top 10 overall too.

So the discounts on the Ps store aren't great but

Jedi Knight vs Judgement vs DmC5?

I'm thinking Dmc5 as Judgement seems like an okayish Yakuza spinoff (played Kiwami obly awhile back) and Star Wars alone doesn't excite me and I've the heard the game itself doesn't excel at anything.

Tbh wish there was something better I could sink myself into.
