I can't tell if you're excusing him or joking about the fact he never passes! Hopefully the latter!
There's no excuse for missing, but he was clean through, and no forward in the world is going to pass from there!
Ronaldo wasn't even in the picture until about 5 seconds after he'd missed.

Surprised to see some with such confidence that one goal will make us favourites for a 3-2 win. I mean it could happen but given our form it does seem a tad presumptuous.

    Shaw has been an embarrassment.
He has but he and AWB get exposed by this formation all the time. You don't see any of the front 4 helping out, back in the day you had Giggs and Beckham always helping out Irwin and Neville. Here the defense is left high and dry.

Atlanta have 5 regulars out injured! They were Miles ahead of us in the first half. attitude, organisation, movement Pace.

we are a disorganised shambles who are low on confidence. Somethings gotta give…..

hope to see Cavani on straight away, one player we have with attitude movement and work ethic.

Scholes is bang on. Defensively we are a shambles. The wingers, Bruno and Ronaldo all don’t track back so we keep getting exposed. Same as previous weeks. We keep being carved open every single game. I’m amazed he hasn’t changed formation just to keep it tighter in midfield. 3-5-2 or something similar. Whole team is a complete mess right now. This is going to get a lot worse.

Not a bad performance given the circumstances, must improve.
We have created the more chances, I'll give you that, but that gap is winding me up now. It happened against Leicester and it's happening again now. Rashford, Greenwood and Bruno, have to be workhorses and drop deep and run up the pitch again, they need to be extremely fit to do this too as they'll be running and running the whole game.

Easy to point at Rashford, but if he's not on the pitch then nobody at all is on the end of those chances.

Atalanta have come with a gameplan and deserve their lead. We are so easy to play against. You can get at us from set pieces, you can get at us from pressing, and you can also get at us by soaking pressure, waiting for us to run out of ideas and then hit us on the break. The opposition manager can take their pick.

We could have prime Kante and prime Keane playing tonight and we’d still be getting destroyed on the counter attack. We have two midfielders and four attackers that do minimal tracking back. How long is it going to take for one of our expert coaches to twig… unbelievable

The biggest reason we are so fecking awful is the fact there is a front 4 who won't drop deep for McFred. There is ALWAYS a HUGE gap between McFred and the front 4.

Rashford, Bruno, Greenwood need to drop deeper and collect the ball off of McFred and then push forward to get balls into the box for Ronaldo.

This would solve a lot of problems, because we keep getting pulled apart through the middle. Which is where the massive gap is!
It's a massive problem defensively leaving mcfred isolated and outnumbered.

Then when we get the ball it's another problem because Fred and mct don't have the quality to feed the front 4 then.

    Its a ridiculous set up.

This makes no sense. The point of that workman like midfield is so we can unlock Bruno.

    And where's this 4-2-4 stuff coming from? It's either a 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1.
Now do you get why we need 3 in midfield?

always hated zonal - what happens if someone makes a clever run?
That's actually what zonal marking is supposed to prevent but players have to understand their boxes and read things properly. In man marking if a player makes a clever run, he is free and his marker is late, in zonal marking whoever is supposed to deal with the designated box takes care of the player otherwise the closest player in an adjacent box pick the runner.

I said when the group was drawn it should be a sackable offence for not getting out of it...

Not only are we not getting out of it, we could finish bottom

Get rid of him NOW and we may actually salvage it and qualify

Even if we turn this game around he needs to go. With haste. Eg tonight

The worst part is that Atalanta have been feckin dreadful themselves and we’re still 0-2 down at OT in a must win game. How low we have fallen…You don’t even need to be great on the day to beat us any longer.

It's ridiculous Rashford is already starting a game, it is no wonder his finishing is rusty.

He'll bring on Cavani, Lingard and Pogba for Fred, Greenwood and Rashford.

    We are not playing badly
It just seems we can’t defend anymore
Harry was rushed back too quickly
Now we can’t finish as well..that’s what pressure does…
You'd think after rushing a defender back and him pretty much being at fault for four goals in our last game you'd give him a break, but not Ole. Let's play him into form like he tried to do with Rashford all season

Bruno has attempted at least 5 thru balls and not one has been close to being good.

Surprised our top striker isn't on the end of any long balls. Only Rashford making runs behind.

Actual problem is none of our two defending midfielders can send penetrating forward passes. Two wasted positions. Given that reality, I agree, at least Bruno should drop deeper and play nearer to McT and Fred.
Pogba can ping an inch perfect ball 40-50 yards up the pitch.......but he's the one who gets dropped.

    Ok...

It seems like we are going to EL this year.. and that's a sackable offence for Ole and his entire coaching staff.

45 mins to go and the game can still be won.. let's see.

Strongly disagree. He's just got blinkers on.

No midfielder should be put into the position those 2 have been, no team should be having such a gap, the forward 4 need to drop back, its basic football.

I mean even if we score 3, we'll let a another goal or 2 in easy. That's the state we're in at the moment
