Great performance. We look so leggy without him.

He's been pretty good all season in my eyes but tonight he was excellent. Love him.

Like Daniel Alves said, the problem it’s not the player, but the manager or the staff

Did well tonight, some important interventions in the second half. McTom is a ghost like player this season and not helping. We need to see him paired with some others and have Bruno a bit tighter

That is bullshit, Ole resuscitated Fred’s career here after Mourinho. It’s just because in the English media Fred is treated like some joke figure.

Excellent tonight. Pleasantly surprised by only one negative comment in this thread tonight too, usually there will be a minimum of half a dozen posts calling him “shit” even after his best games.

Hopefully this will be the start of a better run of form; Fred at his best would be a massive boost to our chances of getting anything from Anfield.

Im not giving Solskjaer all credit for this. He overlooked Fred when he took over and played Matic as the sole DM til he couldn't anymore. Matic and Solskjaer were at odds over game time when Solskjaer began entrusting McTominay with more minutes at the start of the 2019/20 season

He talked up McTominay and Pereira as ready made replacements for Herrera and Matic (there was strong links for a Matic exit due to the aforementioned game time demands) but realized neither of them could play as a sole DM, hence finally settling on Mctom with Fred. He tried McTominay and Pogba first as a double pivot before considering Fred but that clearly was never going to take off.

Holding his hamstring, so doesn’t look good. We’ve zero chance of beating Liverpool without him (not much with him)
Please, no! But Fred had played so much with just a few days off since last season. Those international games are never ending!

Fred in form is our most important player in the team at the moment, if he is off form or not playing, we will be struggling every game, and if we have a chance to go to decent run, we need Mctominay at his best aswell or a new player to play alongside Fred.

Couldn't say it any better.

Average as usual, not disastrous like some of his performances this season. I think he improved as the game went on and Ole chose the right decision to sub the other shit midfielder instead.

I think he plays solid for us. Not as near bad like lots of people think. We need upgrade there but reading about him, you would thought that he is championship midfielder

He was fantastic. He’s been off form this season - but played brilliantly today. I hope this continues and pressure is lifted from him

Was good today, any news on his injury? Feel he's key versus Pool
Looked to me like he was dragging it out to waste time, then realised actually it did hurt a bit. I think he will be back for Liverpool.

If we had a properly coached midfield with the right players, Fred would be good enough to win titles. I've always thought he would have been fine at City had he gone there when Pep was after him.

Saw a few people saying hammy but not heard anything official.
Yeah he was stretching his hamstring out, but didn't look like a pull IMO. Think when he was on the floor somebody stretched it out for him.

Here's hoping anyway, will need his legs against Lpool.

It's looking like a miracle, this thread really. Fred is as important if not more than Bruno for this team, in chich noone can really press, noone seems to care to track back properly and give his all running 95 minutes every game. Play Bruno as a no8 and he will be shit too (even worse than he's been lately) obviously Fred is not a 6 but a brilliant no8.

Last three seasons he's been playing in that midfield alone too, I really have. no sympathy for anyone putting him into one sentence with McTominay (who is playing also out of position) but is very, very limited player, I am surprised he's still getting regular games at a club like ours. Being out of position all the fecking time, unable to make himself available ever, being the worst CM passer in our team in the last 20 years probably. Can't even get to play there for Scotland how limited he is. Yet he's shohorn by Carrick there.

Grandpa Matic, legs gone, can't track back neither cover the ground or is lazy to defend, can't make up for a little more quality on the ball, yet he's palying like a QB receiving the ball in between CBs, of course ehe will look better there than receiving the ball under pressure.

Pogba we know his deficiencies, still our best option now with Fred but still one man midfield other when the other team doesn't go all out to defend.

Bruno not really part of midfield losing ball all the time putting us under pressure..

It is really really hard to play in midfield for MU now, looking at the set up with absolutely noone who cares to defend as a unit, other teams often beating the press because we are unable to sync. Looking forward for the days some clever people in the club decide to bring a no6 or two, to replace those who are old and not good enough we have now, so we can finally start building on that.

Comedy gold people in this thread giving praise to this shambles of a player. Truth is he is only adding more problems to an already incredibly weak midfield. Donny would do a better job in this role, I'd even play hannibal ahead of this guy.

Actually happy that we will face Scousers without him. He's not at United CM standards.

If you cant give him credit after that genuinely good performance then be quiet when hes bad. The mistakes he usually makes with giving the ball away cheaply or being caught on the ball were not there, he won the ball and passed the ball around fine

Fred had a great run of from last year, but all seems to be forgotten. People need a scapegoat. He was very good yesterday.

He has been bad this season. last season he was mostly good. He had a terrible game against Everton and then against Leicester he was brutally exposed in the system. Yesterday he was good. You need water carriers like Fred.
How did he play for Brazil in his last international?

Very good?

Yes, Fred was substantially better as measured against his recent performances but he was from "very good". Scanning media coverage, other United forums and blogs the player ratings for Fred are either 5 or 6. 6 is right, but 6 is no way "very good".

Was close to MoM performance for me, he was everywhere.

Didn't lose any 50-50s defensively, didn't get knocked off the ball in possession like he usually does.

Typical caf. Last year people were saying sorry to him and lauding him as a v.good midfielder.

Then a couple of games into the new season and he's a pub player. He’s been decent for us overall since his first few months at the club.
