Conte will make us look like more of a team in a week of training than we are now.

He'll also implement basic standards of performance and effort - things we've lacked for a long time.

Wouldn't mind Conte at this point. This team needs organization and discipline. He's been successful wherever he went and I don't think he's as problematic as people paint him out to be.

Most of these aren't available though. Beyond Conte and Zidane, who else is currently available ?
Well managers dont have to be available to get signed up. Unless you just want the thread to be managrs currently without a job?

If Ole is sacked tomorrow, who would be available to take over next week ? Not Pochettino, Den Hag, Rodgers. Who beyond Zidane and Conte would be available immediately ?

For some reason I just don’t think Zidane would be up for taking the United job. I feel like Conte would be all over it though. Just not sure if he is the right choice. Would get us stabilized but would he be a long term solution? Not likely.
Exactly - forget Zidane - he won’t fancy the climate and he doesn’t speak the language

Conte - short term if nothing else would stop us shipping 9 goals in the last 2 league games

Do we reckon Ronaldo would accept Fat Sam? Isn’t this the kind of situation he goes for?

I would want someone like Potter or ten Hag. Somebody who actually has a recognisable philosophy would be a good start!

Don't think they have to be currently available though? It's often possible to poach managers from smaller teams after all, or delay making a permanent appointment.

There are only two options for the immediate future - Ole staying or Conte coming in - everything else is hogwash.

He's problematic with incompetent boards and ours is the most incompetent. There are no doubts he is gonna clash with the Glazers at some point, but at the moment we need a coach who knows how to win. If he wins a PL or a CL with is, I don't give a feck if he has to be sacked a year or two later. If that happens, we can go for a coach like Ten Hag, etc, it's not the end of the world. What is going to be the end of the world if we waste these players' prime years playing under high school coaches basically

I'm guessing it'll be Zidane. Not sure how I feel about it, but realistically he is the one that Ronaldo and others will want and accept.

personally I'd love ten Hag, but I don't think he's a realistic option at this point.

Yeah i get what you're saying, and wasnt trying to be sarcastic. I just mean we are an absolute massive club, a manager in a job doesnt mean we cant go for them, or that they wouldnt also come to us if we came calling.

Keane is an option too for me, if you want to add him.

Ten Hag - he has a clear mentality about how he wants his teams to play football, how he wants his players to react after victories etc.

They get him in, let him get whatever system he wants behind the scenes, any coaches he wants then get them and then back him to buy and sell whoever he needs to.

We should stop looking for a long term solution. This obsession with finding a new SAF is how he ended up with Ole. Get Conte in. He might not last long but at least we'll have a proper go at the title.

We need to stop with the fantasy appointments. We need someone who is a winner, recently won a major trophy and has shown they’re a top manager. Not someone who’s a gamble, or has never managed at a top level. Someone who’s relevant with the big guns today.

Pro | Experienced manager, seasoned winner, would have the respect of the players

Cons | Speaks no English, never managed in the PL, great coach or coach of a great team?

Conte

Pro | Tactically good, proven winner, proven in the PL

Cons | Seems to have one good season before leaving chaos and destruction in his wake

Rodgers

Pro | Twice done good work in the PL with mediocre squads, won plenty at Celtic, tactically strong

Cons | No experience of winning big trophies in England or Europe, would he have the respect of Varane/Ronaldo etc...?

Difficult. I'm not convinced by any of them as long term options

Ten Hag is the one that ticks most boxes for me, but also the least likely option for this board unfortunately. It's going to be one of Zidane or Conte I think, and I'm inclined to think it'll be Conte tbh.

Zidane might struggle in the PL. I also think that he's had a superstar team at Real and isn't really used to building a team from scratch.
He doesn't really need to build from scratch. He'd have a very good squad that just needs a few missing pieces - in midfield and perhaps RB.

If we could get through to the end of the season, Ten Hag would be favourite. I can’t see him coming now.
Im not convinced that Conte or Zidane will fit

There is no spoon.
Conte till the summer is about the only possible play i see saving our season (despite the fact i can't stand the guy), and then getting in the long-term Manager and not giving conte a 3 season contract as he's likely to implode after 2 like he does everywhere.

Sir Alex Ferguson. Its the only way.

The thought of having an outside man as manager absolutely kills me inside.
