Maybe they think he will not perform as well at a massive club like Moyes. I would be willing to take the risk, but with all their past mistakes they likely won't. Ten Hag would also want to change the club from top to bottom, academy system, scouting, training facilities, to make us more like Ajax (not a bad thing) but on a larger scale. More money to be spent folks.
That’s literally the only similarity they could make that they’re both stepping up to a bigger club but thats where it begins and ends. Ten Hag is a quality tactician that plays an attractive style of football and has actually won silverware, neither of which Moyes did before getting the job. This is the problem when you haven’t got football men making the decisions behind the scenes, hence why we’ve been dog shit for the last 8 years.

Look at his reasoning (and I want Conte) for it. He actually says that the board are comparing Ten Hag to Moyes. It's embarrassing if that's their reasoning.
not surprised the board has shown to be completely useless
You can only laugh.
Whilst i don't wish to stick up for the board, what Mark actually said was in relation to Moyes in the sense of giving someone that is managing on a lower level, in that managing in the Dutch league and then bringing them to United is a risk, same way they risked bringing Moyes up, not that they are the same type of manager. This of course beggars belief because they were willing to give it to the less experienced Solskjaer for starters, and secondly, we are the only big club who doesn't want to take a risk on these up and coming managers it seems, Ten Hag will end up Barcelona or elsewhere if we don't go for him, it's again a case of for some reason we just think some managers are not good enough where as every other big club wants to take them on, it's really bizarre

If TH is like Moyes then, for the Board, who's our present manager like?

Some good friends Ole has.

He got the job due to his friends, stays in the job due to his friends. Till date, nobody can explain why he got the job? Similarly today, nobody can explain why he stillgot the job?

Personally, envy such powerful friendships.

Precisely. They will be scared he cannot manage as well in the PL, who knows until someone gets the chance, Klopp, Pep had not been here before. They just want someone who they know won something, except he was given at the time the tools to succeed. The problem with Conte started after. Here you only get half a toolbox.

Why would he make us more like Ajax? He is the manager of Ajax yeah, but he isnt Ajax raised. He spent a few years there but that's it.
Saying he would change us to them, be costly and what not does not make sense.

Think I meant more about the technical style of play, the finding great kids and actually getting a good number into the first team. We have not done that for a while, the odd one here and there. There are big faults at the club, at a lot of English clubs actually, of transitioning talented young players into senior players for their own teams. Something gets lost somewhere along the way. I would love to have players who can pass a ball, who can control a ball. They seem to have a conveyor belt of talent coming out of there.

They seem to pull a new talent up from a hat when needed, yeah.
Must be nice.
Very well run club from the look of it.

It's crazy that 3 out of 4 managers post Fergie (Moyes, Jose, Ole to be followed) needed full team mutiny to get the sack. Things had to hit pretty much rock bottom every time. Tells you all you need to know about our board and their proactive thinking. There were huge warning signs the whole season with the team having no direction, playing with zero cohesion in what can only be described as suicidal tactics. Yet, come Monday morning the whole board was caught off guard with players pretty much forcing the issue.

You have to question the whole decision making process in the club and is there any person between the manager and the board who has any kind of influence, independence and power when it comes to football side of things. John Murtough? Darren Fletcher? How come nobody saw this coming through the dressing room or just and simply by opening their eyes and watching us play?

I have no problem that the club wants to take time and think carefully about the next appointment, but the fact that the whole situation had to blow straight into their faces to start thinking and considering Ole sack is worrying to say the least.
This is so true, it's like unless they are forced into action, the modus operandi is to just sit back and chill. I can't believe how long Ole has not only survived but been praised for everything under the sun, they created this false narrative of building towards a title winning team (when the majority of the caf, and we are just armchair fans, and pundits saw change was necessary) and allowed an unqualified coach to hire an unqualified backroom team and allowed him to buy expensive, top players in every position.
If true the board should all just resign. As you say, you can’t give Ole, the least qualified possible candidate this much money and time and then say, no, Ten Haag manages Ajax, they aren’t a big enough club! What a joke.

If there is any truth in the board comparing Moyes to Ten Hag I honestly just give up, we are beyond doomed.
Moyes and Ole were sentimental picks, they weren't picked for their CVs, it's ridiculous to compare them to Ten Hag or Simeone or anyone like that.

We are. We will appoint a short term chump again. The last 4 managers have all been garbage appointments.

They are so incompetent in terms of football that they cant even appoint a good manager by pure luck all these years.

It's a silly comparison, no doubt, but let's be honest, we have no idea how Ten Hag will get on taking over at a club of United's size because he's only managed in the Dutch league. Unless you want to include his time with Bayern's reserve team?

I'm not trying to diminish the excellent work he's done at Ajax, not by any stretch. I'm merely pointing out that he's a relatively unknown quantity, especially when compared to the likes of Conte, who's proven himself all across Europe and at the highest level too.

For me, we've taken enough risks where managerial appointments are concerned. We need to be absolutely certain we get this one right.

This Ten Hag and Moyes comparison is the most ridiculous thing I've heard in football for some time. They play completely different kind of football for a start.
Ajax has won more EC than us. They are not rich but they have a history as much as us. The Board may not know but that John Murtuagh should be sacked instantly if he thinks and accept it.

These last few days have been truly embarrassing from the old boys lot..
Is this actual quote because its embarrassing. You have to wonder what world both Gary and Phil live in because suggesting people should be removed is not that uncommon.

What the feck is this?
Another great "class of 92" manager working in his buddy David Beckham club with a staggering 35% win rate sitting in 10th out of 14 teams in the MLS with Inter Miami.

The Neville brothers have lost the plot completely in defense of their pal Ole.

Meanwhile Gary has no problem publicly calling Boris Johnson "spaghetti Bolognese of a man" and wanting him to lose his job (rightly or wrongly), should the police arrest him for that?

Phil Neville is a master at getting jobs for which he is not qualified by using the old boys network. It‘s not surprising he is defending another beneficiary of cronyism.

I’d go for ten Haag or pochettino, both play attractive football, both good with developing young players… i feel like pochettino and United are a match made in heaven. I feel like he has unfinished business in the premier league aswell, wether or not he leaves PSG though is a different matter, if they don’t win the champions league though will they get rid of him? That’s there main aim, they win the league no matter who’s in charge. If we could get him after him winning a couple trophies though then that would be good for his confidence and make him more hungry for success.

The danger would be bringing in caretaker who did well and we’d be right where we were with Ole and in same position season or few later when we realise being unqualified ultimately turns out to be a disadvantage

Have you ever seen a United manager who's so loved by our rivals ? They are all fighting for him to stay.

Theres a lot of Glazer bashing here and rightly so. But this summer they did what Ole asked for. I see SAF logic in giving him one chance to turn it around. I don’t think he can but I hope I’m wrong. A lot of comparisons are being made to that 0-5 loss to Newcastle our 3rd in a week, but the difference was SAF had the history to back it up.
Phil Neville said this. As you said in context losing 5-0 if we had have won the league umpteen times prior wouldnt have been the big deal. Just for the record Neville as manager of Miami has them 5th bottom having lost 15 games.

Yep, it's a very silly comparison. Moyes has always played a dour brand of football which was never going to go down well here. He was at Everton for 11 years and never came close to winning a trophy. There was nothing inspiring about his appointment and most fans were filled with dread at the prospect of seeing him in charge of United.

Ten Hag on the other hand plays progressive football, is tactically flexible and astute, and has a winning mentality. Basically the polar opposite to Moyes, it's fair to say. You're right that there's of course an element of risk to it and his success at Ajax isn't guaranteed to translate to success at United.

Admittedly I'm basing much of this on what I've read and watching some Ajax matches in Europe as I don't watch the Dutch league. I just get the feeling he has too much potential for us to risk losing him to a rival. He ticks a lot of boxes and fits the United ethos of bringing through and developing youth. Personally, I would rather take that gamble than opt for someone like Conte who plays more pragmatic football and then fecks off after 2-3 years tops.

I’ve not really expressed any sympathy for Ole till now because I think he’s terrible at his job, but this is humiliating for him, tbh.
I’ve been saying this all along. Our board are letting a club legend get dragged through the mud because of their dithering.

Everyone knows he’s getting sacked sooner or later, why are they prolonging the process and letting him come under extreme scrutiny, fan pressure, media pressure, player leaks, and downright mocking everywhere?
