That team doesn't have any width. It actually doesn't have many attacking player.

Whenever in doubt, park the bus and go for the counter. The United way.
But counter with no pace doesn’t make sense !

I don’t follow United vividly, but there is a glaring lack of pace in that lineup, correct?
Put Donny in for McTominay and that would be interesting. And Telles for Shaw.
But this should be shit on a stick. No pace. No width. No creative midfield. Lot of onus on Bruno.

Spurs will be all over us, they will clean up in midfield and inviting pressure in a side that is rubbish at set pieces is crazy

Very pleased Cavani is starting; don't mind us trying something new with the formation as we've been piss-poor doing what we were doing so far, though McFred is the obvious issue. Hopefully one of them is instructed to get forward at least.

We're likely to lose whatever we do so let's see how it goes.

We've been tonked for nearly 15 goals in the last 4 or5 matches and people here are criticising a defensive team selection.

Shall we play 4-2-4 again and concede another 5 goals? Give me a break.
They're criticising the players responsible for those goals keeping their place

I might have chosen different personnel but there's a strong case that we haven't given 352 enough thought. Wan Bissaka kills it really but we don't have an alternative, but any decent coach turns that back 3 plus Shaw and a rb into a clean sheet machine. Probably room for likes of pogba(suspended) or vdb in place of one of fred or McTom, and may the most in form attackers take the front 2 spots but some pace would be great.

My prediction and what I've had played today was 352/532 just different players. Get Trippier in in January and it's more balanced

    Okay... I like that line-up.
At least he's given up on his 'progressive, positive tactics' and has done the right thing - make sure we don't concede.
Back to basics. It's what he should've done against Liverpool.

He's trying to stop the rot, plus his job is on the line.

Can you blame him for going so defensive today?
Yes I can when it’s him that constantly spouts the “United Way” and “United DNA” bullshit.

Yes you can drop Maguire for Bailly but that's about it. Frankly, Maguire in a back three should be a better player. We'll see.

Imagine how different people would feel if he just swapped mct for donny. But mcfred plus 5 is ridic

    Looking for Eric
Could Lindelof be a surprise choice to play the DM postion, and let mcfred play as midfielders. Or is it 7 defenders tripping over each other.

Instead of dropping Maguire, Shaw and Fred like they deserve, he picks a formation to make them more comfortable. What a load of bollox.

It's a crying shame to see us resort to such a defensive lineup when you look at all the attacking talent we have. What a waste.

Ole the coward. Pathetic selections, no guts to drop the perpetrators of that horrible loss and Donny, Sancho and Lingard still can’t find a place. feck right off Ole.

He tried to go toe-to-toe with a team full of goals last week.
He's gone ultra-defensive against a team that struggles to score today, and also they have one of the most negative managers in the Premier League.

Spurs do have mistakes in them at the back so it could work. Doesn't feel like the way to cling on and save his job, especially with City up next. We'll see though.

We aren't exactly scoring many either are we.

A decent team would work on their shape/formation Varane and Maguire aren't exactly shit players we shouldn't have to throw 7 players behind the ball
You don't think they've been doing that? This isn't a computer game, you don't always get the result you hope for from your preperation. The whole club knows the problems we have been experiencing, and will have been doing their best in training to correct these issues. Even before last week, the players will have been working on improvement. But it didn't work. So should he trust that this week it will 100% guaranteed to be better after 5 days of training, or should he pick a more solid team to make sure we're not blown away in the first half again?

Well yes, his lack of ability is not as exposed in a back three.
I am sick of 80 millions pounds players who need something or someone to be better players ! Maguire should just be benched.

Nonsense. If Conte or Tuchel came here and put that out they'd be considered a genius.
It is because most of the players picked are playing shite and don't deserve a place. It's nothing to do with the person picking them. If Conte came in and picked that team and they were playing like they are now he'd get stick too.

If it works it works. Probably his last game however a convincing win followed by City and Liverpool dropping points could buy him some time.

On paper it looks okay but you have to wonder how much we’ve trained in this and how confident the players will be. Can just see more confusion with the team not understanding what to do but let’s see.

Yes because if he wanted to go defensive it should if been against Liverpool last weekend, that I could of accepted as being sensible to keep the game quiet and tight especially early on. Instead he went gung ho and we got our arses handed to us. So instead he goes full defensive against an distinctly average put of form spurs side.

And he still picked Shaw, maguire and Fred who were all dreadful last weekend.

Interesting formation! I'm curious to be honest, I have a soft spot for back 3's.

3 at the back was the only sensible way to go if Varane is fit. (Hope we don’t push a semi fit Varane in to the team).
Not surprised that Cavani starts but fine with me.

Not going to happen under Ole. Maguire could take a shit on his face in front of a packed OT and he'll still start all games even when barely fit.

That's a cowardly selection - now width and no pace - just who is putting the bloody crosses in from wide ?!
