He's good enough to play at Man City, but he isn't exceptional there. I see no reason why they would be forced to pick him ahead of his competition. It's early days though. I'm certain we haven't seen the best of Sancho yet, so it stands to reason that they haven't yet seen the best of Grealish.

Well Grealish had more experience as a CM than David Silva did pre Guardiola.

Play Grealish and De Bryune together in the middle with the intention of Foden replacing de Bryune one day. Until then play Foden out wide. I'd have liked to see Grealish as the replacement for David silva who I still feel they haven't replaced if they want to play that tactic.

Sterling - ? - Foden
Grealish - De Bryune
Rodri
Grealish is far from the player David Silva was though, and he'll never be that level. Silva was perfect for Pep, as he's always been a fantastic passer, incredibly smart and efficient with all he does. Grealish has always loved holding on to the ball and dribbling at people. He loves carrying the ball. I don't see him as anything other than a #10 for Pep, as he doesn't work as a LW for Pep teams (or as good as an actual winger would), and definitely not as an 8 because of his lack of defensive work and not being a pass first guy. The only real benefit to Grealish for them is a long term replacement for De Bruyne as the 10. As a LW, he doesn't improve them at all, and as a midfielder next to De Bruyne, they are far better off using Gundogan or Bernardo Silva there (depending how they want to use KdB).

It’s what 5 games in? Give the lad time to breathe
He’s played more games than Sancho and he had plenty premier league experience. Is the Caf giving Sancho time to breathe?

You shit on our own players but want people to give a City player time because he’s the Caf darling.

I’ve said the same for Sancho. It’s 5 games in. Some of the best players in the PL have taken a season to settle at their new clubs

Said it in another thread but he hangs out wide on the left, rarely takes on a fullback, checks back to his right foot to play the square pass in field, slightly delays the motion so he can try and draw a foul. Rinse and repeat.

Guardiola does this a lot. Gives new signings a lot of playing time to embed them in.

Haha. People are weird sometimes.

I hope Grealish fail. Couldn't care much about giving him time or whatever.

Bernardo Silva >> Grealish, and it's not even close.
Different positions, different styles and different players. That's like comparing apples and oranges.
Grealish has been decent at City so far, taking the first 6 months of most Pep signings into account (including Bernardo) he's done better than any of them bar maybe Sane. Certainly a better start to life at City than Mahrez or Bernardo.

2 goals and 3 assists in 11 games whilst relearning and changing his game is pretty decent.

He will get better I feel but still don’t know where he’ll end up fitting in, especially with Foden ascending to another level.

You are very wrong, silly post. What is your goal here? If you were right, and you are not, at best it would be veeeeery close. Bernardo would never ever have the same influence on Villa for example, he doesn’t have the drive over bigger parts of the pitch. Wonderful player though, don’t get me wrong. Grealish needs time to adapt and it will take a season to be top top, but he is usually one of their best players every game already.

Pound for pound Bernardo is a superior player to Grealish. That's hardly a controversial opinion.

Bernardo Silva had a huge influence for Monaco when they reached the semi final of the CL beating City. Monaco also won the title that year and beat PSG to it. And he was 2 years younger than Grealish.

Some players can shine in average+ teams and fail to climb an extra step when they play in bigger teams. Grealish is a good player but I don't think he has what it takes to be a top player. It's a feeling, i have nothing to back that up but my own opinion but that's what I think. I see him as a slightly better Payet that needs to be the center of a team to really shine but who's not good enough to be the center of a top side.

He struggled in last 3-4 games but still would rate his season 7/10 or so. Doesn't help Sterling's been shocking for months and Torres out until January so Grealish will very likely have to start 4 out 5 games now.

Well, Caf fav players of other teams are usually so overrated while shitting on our own. Don't get me wrong. He seems a decent player to me so far there.

But, Ronaldinho of this generation or some shit.

I'd take Grealish 10 out of10 times. 9 games in the league doesn't erase the last 2 seasons.

Lets pretend none of this happened. He was instrumental in Monaco winning the French league in 16/17 and was voted Man City's player of the season in 18/19. He is way more versatile than Grealish. I like Grealish but in my opinion Bernardo is a superior player.

Grealish won’t ever get close to a season like Bernardo had in 18/19. Mahrez’s best season is better than anything he’s done too. None can win a free kick like him, mind

Nothing beats being best Aston Villa player, especially when he was in Championship. Also there is most fouled player stat too which you can't argue against tbf.

While I agree that Bernardo is still a better player than Grealish, the possibility of that is not out of the question. Before his injury last year, he was playing at a similar level in a weaker side.

He is a very good player just not a great one. It's he is worth 100 million ? No not a chance but he is good enough to make a contribution to City

Nothing player. I will never forget the hype on the CAF for this guy. Add to the list of overrated English players, he’s 26 already and he’s not going to improve massively for him to be worth 100 million or the best player in the premier league

What's funny with that comparision with Ronaldinho, even if you rate him highly, he is literally the one of most boring forwards in PL. There is nothing enjoyable about his football.

I don't think anyone who compared Grealish to Ronaldinho ever saw Ronaldinho play. This is just madness.

What is madness though a load of United fans were hyping him to no end while shitting on own players and hoping Grealish would prove those 'doubters' wrong.

Feck that.

He went to the wrong team. He's top class but a lot of people had reservations about how he'd fit in at City and whether he'd make them better. It's still early days though.

I think his problem is he's gone to a team where he's an excellent player - but so is Bernardo Silva, so is Mahrez, so is Foden, so is Sterling. They're all technically skilled and talented footballers. The things that made him a real stand out at Villa in terms of being a focal point are gone, he is just a cog within a system now.

But he will probably get better as he settles into their way of playing. It's not going to change that it's going to be hard for him to stand out as much as he did or to justify the price tag, but I don't think City care about his tag as long as they get what they want of him.

Yeah, as i've previously said, I really think Grealish needs to be at the heart of a team, the only problem is, i don't think he's good enough to do so in a top team. In a team like City where there's other creative player, he can't bring the pace needed to be a real addition, they lack depth and width and that's not what he can be used for. What they needed, especially without a proper 9, was Sane. And they sold him.

Round peg in a square hole but that was his choice. Mahrez also could've been so much more if he had gone somewhere else or even stayed at Leicester.

City need that Ronaldo, Bruno or even Rashford type player that really wants to get the ball shoot and score not just be composed and pass it to another teammate in order to really take advantage of Grealish. He's been fine individually and finds some decent passes to other attackers but City dont really have a guy who is always looking to get their shot away and score game after game. And of course he was playing so well before that fine isnt good enough if he's a top player.

Look more like a 50-60m to me rather than 100m.

But then, Sancho only looks like a 15-20m player so far rather than 75m.
