If Levy were to sack Nuno and somehow manage to get Conte in, I will thoroughly celebrate them when they finish this season ahead of us.

Then we'll sack Ole when it's too late and probably replace him with an awful choice in the summer like Rodgers. And then finish below Conte's Spurs next season as well. Oh joys.

No one, but if we want Ten Haag we dont really have a choice do we?
Is there any indication that the board wants Ten Haag? I know the fans want him, but the higher ups at United seem to be fixated on Poch and Rodgers.

For an interim, I am probably with you on this. Though I don’t think Murtough would at all fancy it or let it happen.
has he proven management skills ? He may win few and board will make him permanent. United dna and passion talk continue there onwards. Have seen this movie before.

A turning point? Another one?
Let’s hope for the best. Nothing would be better if last match was the turning point and the party starts now.

The players showed they stood up for each other and the manager. Maybe they have something going on?

They got a huge boost and I suppose also the players was impressed by the tactical change against Tottenham.

He doesn't have the skills at all and should be kept as far away as possible.

Love the optimism.

It's probably another false dawn, and i think you know it too.

Come the game vs City we'll be exposed again. We can't play Spurs every game.

It's seems the below three are on the short-list.

Brendan Rodgers would jump ship at the first call but I think he'd be more inclined to wait it out until January where he can come in and buy a DM. There is a reason why he published his release clause, he is not stupid.

Rodgers and Pochettino  are we intent on being a midtable club and serial losers?

The only options for the job should be Ten Hag, Enrique, Conte and Zidane. Everyone else is just a waste of resources and time

I swear if Spurs somehow get Conte and we're stuck with Ole or replace him with Brendan this would be pathetic.

If we want an immediate fix it'll be Conte. If we were feeling progressive and risk-taking it'll be Ten Hag or Potter. Going by how our front office thinks we'll stick with Solskjaer.

If moyes was never our manager wed have post after post on here wanting him to be right now
Moyes wouldn't be the manager he is today if he didn't fail massively here though. I think he got exposed here and grew a bit from his failures here, at Sociedad, and Sunderland. Granted he's still nowhere near the level of manager we should ever entertain but if he got the job today I think he'd be a bit more prepared. We have posters here who still think Ole is qualified, so obviously there's some (wrong imo) people who would suggest him.

48% pick Ten Heg? over Conte and Zidane?

What is the big reason? Thanks for any help!
I can only speak for myself here but I chose ten Hag due to his ability to implement a complex style of play that exerts zonal and positional control with a emphasis on possession play in a vertical axis which is pleasing on the eye. It's a style of play that has been tweaked over the decades and it's stood the test of time, from Michels, Cruyff, Sacchi, LVG, Guardiola etc, all being beneficiaries to devastating effect.

It's a style that leaves a deep imprint through-out the club if implemented correctly.

Saw that Di Marzio said Conte is now open to joining Spurs, so if our board are seriously spurning him and letting that happen, they’d better deliver on Ten Hag or someone at least of that caliber. Otherwise what’s the point anymore.

Ole will stay until the end of the season where we will finish outside the top 4

Watch him take something out the Atalanta and City games, to help the board come to that decision.

Is it a style of play which 1 man can implement, or do you need the players to have been drilled on this when they were youngsters at Ajax? That is the only doubt.

It's a style of play that can be implemented around the world as proven by legendary coaches like Sacchi and Guardiola who are Italian and Spanish and both their (Barca & Milan) teams are considered two of the greatest club sides of all time. Enrique for Spain also adopts a similar style. People only bring up Ajax when it's a Dutch Coach but forget that other European coaches were also influenced by the approach that evolved over time and seeped through to many countries and clubs.

But I'd also be happy with a Coach who adopts a fast transition, high tempo/high intensity play style with the emphasis on verticality through the lines.

So for me it's either Erik ten Hag, Graham Potter, Enrique or Adi Hutter. A good blend of high pressing, fast transition options or high pressing with a emphasis on possession play in a vertical axis.

Ole is probably not going anywhere. He survived the 0-5 with Liverpool, he won with Spurs and figured-out how to not leak in defense. As long as he plays the same 3-5-2 against City and loses with minimal score or manages a draw, he is gonna stay. We probably will also qualify out of UCL group, so he is safe unless he does something stupid or players turn into garbage.

We won't win crap for sure, but he may be fine because our owners don't care about winning

Ten Hag is as risky is anyone let alone Conte. Who was the last manager from Dutch league who went abroad and proved himself? Ajax has a brilliant setup top to bottom. They have a definite way of doing things.
He is, maybe he will fail miserably.

My point was simply if we are to go for him the best we can hope for is Ole having a decent season, because there is no way Conte is going to agree to a 9 month deal

Imo a caretaker should only be a last resort if Ole loses the dressing room

Just read that Spurs are considering Paulo Fonseca or the lad from Porto.
Fonseca also was the leading candidate for the Newcastle job for a while.
What about those? I do not really know a lot about them.

So conte could be on his way to spurs then… he so wanted to manage us aswell! If conte goes to spurs then it gives our board an excuse to keep ole till the end of the season as they’ll be no one available that wants the job. As long as top 4 is in reach he ain’t going no where.

It's a shame but you are probably right. Having survived a 5 - 0 mauling by Liverpool there is really no limit to how he can stink up the place and pay for it, such is our lack of standards.

He will stagger along with this yo yo form and as long as he avoids losing two or three on the trot then he will be fine. Soon his delusional base will come out of the woodwork and insult all and sundry as this guy never led such an expensively assembled squad to the slaughter by our oldest rivals.

If Ole survives till the summer, he'll be in charge next season.
I think it should read, 'if Ole can survive a 5 - 0 mauling by Liverpool then he has the job for life'. I have never seen a manager so incompetent yet so protected by many who ought to know better.

He has it, I fail to see anything worse he can do and be held accountable if leading the team to such a humiliation by Liverpool of all teams can be ignored. Unless he chooses to walk away he is not getting sacked anytime soon, people who are supposed to hold him accountable are too feeble and those who support him put the idea of him as our manager above what's best for the club.

Going by the poll, the overwhelming majority sees Ten Haag as the best option. Ten Haag wont be available mid season

If we went for Conte (whos a bit volatile) we might increase our chances for silerware next season, but in all likelyhood it also means we will be looking for yet another new manager in 2024.

Imo, best case scenario is if Ole manages to churn out a decent season, and at the end of the campaign we thank him for his work and hand over the job to Ten Haag, assuming he wants it of course
I agree. Thats the best case scenario, if we were a well run club with title winning ambitions. My fear (more like paranoia) is Ole gets top 4, which we can all agree is no big deal with the squad we have, and he stays on for us to go for another boom bust cycle next year. With the current duds in charge of the club, that scenario is very possible.

Thing is this is just the sort of formation that would suit playing City. We could very well win against them, completely swinging the already shifting media narrative in Ole's favour again.

Next thing you know, the board's patting themselves on their backs for their admirable "patience" and trust in the process, only for us to stumble and fall horribly against most mid and bottom table teams who will simply do the smart thing, by sitting back and challenging us to break them down.

I've resigned myself that Ole will be here till summer and will get top 4 easily. It will be an interesting summer as players will be leaving ,DVB, Pogba, Matic, Mata, Lingard, Bailly, Cavani and maybe Martial.

I wonder what rubbish we will be said then it's another rebuild , it's another process etc.

Club sources indicate that Richard Arnold is more convinced than ever that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is the right man to take Manchester United back to where it belongs, with the club’s third successive top four finish in a competitive season seen as further tangible progress under the Norwegian’s leadership. Well-placed sources have said that the club hierarchy are preparing a new six-year contract for Solskjaer that would see him become the highest paid manager in the world - a clear demonstration of the Board’s conviction that they have found their man after nearly a decade of searching. It is understood that the Glazers are prepared to bankroll a summer spending spree to the tune of £150 million as United look to continue their rebuild. The club expect to lose Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Paul Pogba, Donny Van De Beek, and Jadon Sancho, the last of whom arrived at Old Trafford just last season and only started 16 games, failing to score or assist in any of them.

“There was a short blip of a few bad results earlier this season, when there was much talk about the possibility of replacing [Solskjaer],” said United’s football director John Murtough to the Guardian. “And the United managerial job is always in huge demand. We had world class coaches such as Antonio Conte practically hammering down our door for the job. But we shut out the outside noise and kept the faith. Manchester United is a huge club steeped in rich history. It’s not enough for us to win. We’ve got to respect our DNA - of playing fast, fluid attacking football; of promoting youth. It’s about passion, about desire, about working harder than the opponent. It’s about comebacks, never giving up till the final whistle. Ole respects that. He knows the club inside out, he’s been with us since Sir Alex Ferguson’s time. And the progress we’ve seen under him has been nothing short of phenomenal. We’re extremely pleased with the state of the club right now, and have utmost confidence going into the future.”
