I'm by no means full backing the Rodgers appointment, but have to say I am very surprised at the level of animosity towards Rodgers getting the job.

I mean, the vast majority have spent the last 3-4 years blowing smoke up his arse about how brilliant a Leicester side he has built with minimal funds vs the big clubs and how they school us often.

The minute he's linked then the same folks are turning their nose up at it?
Are you sure they are the same people?

Also thinking Leicester are well run and that he's done a good job there doesn't mean you have to think he's United material or not a massive twat.

Assuming Ten Hag isnt available, Zidane doesnt have a job right now.
Saw a good point made on twitter about this.

Why do we have to wait for someone to be available? We spent 80m on Maguire and 40m on VDB. We can afford to buy out a manager's contract if he's the right man.

He was but the league is far more competitive now with Pep, Klopp and Tuchel - and the 14 months following that slip they were poor including a 6-1 defeat or something crazy against Stoke wasn’t it? Liverpool fans would love for us to hire him I’m sure. Maybe he’s improved but his Leicester side seem to be getting worse.
Yeah on one side if he was crap we’d never hear the end off it, on the other side if we were successful it would be glorious

So true, with the exception of a few manager who absolutely won't come, we should be able to buy most out of their contracts if we need.

Not saying I want him but worth remembering he was one physical slip away from winning the league
If Liverpool had a better manager that year it would not have come down to that slip. Their defensive record cost them the league that season. Not that slip.

And as a few point out, he was competing against Pellegrini, Moyes, Mourinho and Wenger. Now he will be competing against Pep, Klopp, Tuchel anf Conte.

I voted no, not because he won't be an improvement on Ole, but because we won't get rid of him fast enough if it doesn't work out.

I'm conflicted because on one hand I'm fed up of us losing every week in the other hand Rodgers? Please no

We could but that depends on the manager being willing to leave their current club mid-season, which they may not wish to do.

Taking Ten Hag as an example, aside from any loyalty he might feel towards Ajax he might also think he's more likely to do well in the CL season with that side than ours given he's already spent years coaching them to play the way he wants. So why not wait until the summer before making a move? Not like we're his only shot at managing a top side at some point.

Literally the only one of the names being mentioned seriously I won't pass on. Really don't rate his ability to close out a season and it's happened multiple times in the PL - with the Scousers and twice with LCFC.

Also, he's a bit of tit.

Yeah that's a good point. I'd take any decent manager right now if I knew that they'd be sacked as soon as it looked like their time was up, instead of 12 to 18 months too late

Ex-Liverpool manager who bottled the league and top 4 finishes with Leicester? Nah, thanks. Caretaker manager until the end of the season and do some proper work of getting a correct appointment in May/June 2022.

If we had a board that are as shrewd as Chelsea or Madrid, it would be fine.

Rogers wouldn’t be my first choice but if it was a straight choice ole or Rogers, I’d take Rogers.

That's not really the choice though.

The choice is Brendan or Conte. Brendan or Ten Hag. Brendan or Poch.

The board are turning the club's long term future over to Brendan fecking Rodgers over three vastly superior choices, because he's British and, just like Ole, he's a stooge. No other reason.

if we appoint a mild improvement over Ole, we'd be stuck with him for another 3 yrs

If he brings Tielemans I could be okay with it

Other than that its a huge no.

Perhaps because the manager doesn't want to move mid season and perhaps because the club in questions doesn't want to give there manager up. Especially if they are having a a good season and potentially gonna have some success.

They’ve won 1 of their last 5 games (it was on penalties to Brighton in the Carabao). They are 12th in the table - with 16 goals for (1 fewer than us) and 18 goals against (2 more than us).

Why is he one of the favourites for the job, again?

if we were just going on this seasons form Moyes would be top of the list.

Don't want to sound dramatic about all this.........but I feel sick about it

Pretendan, the failed Liverpool manager, actually managing us, if you think Ole at the wheel is peak getting rinsed by rival fans and embarrassing............you have seen nothing yet.

Bottler in the league, no chance we are winning titles with him.

Everyone in their right mind will be Brendout at the first sign of trouble. We'd be back to square one hoping he gets sacked this time next year.

Hell fecking no.

Whoever among executives is thinking that is anywhere near a good idea needs to have a serious check.

I would have him now as he would be a damn sight better than Ole. We would be coached at least. He lost the league partly because of slippy G. I have voted yes to all the choices on here as everyone would improve us.

He was linked with City as Pep's successor many times recently but wooow he's so overrated, a fine 7/10 manager but that's good enough only when you pretend 4th place finish is a trophy.
Bit like we have already then. Be right up Glazers street.

I think Rodgers is a better manager than ole and he appears to have matured a bit as a manager. Hes experienced in the league and has a good transfer record. So on that basis yes, but if we're actually waiting for Rodgers, then no. If we're waiting for some reason then it should be for better

If the board are gonna consider Rodgers, it'd be nice if the board gauged fan opinion by putting a survey out for members/ST holders with managerial preferences on. I feel the fan base is really split on his potential appointment. The Board would do well to take that on mind after the shitstorm with the superleague etc.

Should we add the two seasons where he bottled 4th after being there for basically the entire season then, too?
