Foden should have finished that chance in the second half. Maybe a humiliating scoreline would have resulted in the sacking.
It wouldn't change a thing, they need a push and only fans can do that but fans in the stadium don't want to do it. So we will have to wait until the board thinks that Ole's contract is a sunk cost.

' There is no indication coming from the club of Solskjaer losing his job'. This is a quote from the Sky Sports page for this tweet.

I think people need to hold off. It sounds like these articles are coming out because Manutd have not said anything. Saying 'no indication' means the same as 'no statement'.

Wait until the club actually says something themselves.

Yeah he seems a lot harder to sack than Mourinho due to this. We are in big trouble.
It's because the board have literally built their footballing structure around him. They have given him a brand new contract, and appointed Fletcher and Murtough to work with him. Based on absolutely bugger all. It wouldn't surprise me to hear that they have been planning a Liverpool style 'boot room' philosophy where each manager is succeeded by somebody from within the club. That is now all shot to pieces. And that's the main reason why Conte was a definite no-no, because his appointment would have been pretty much the antithesis of the type of person/manager that they need to fit their shitty structure.

They will be scrambling around now trying to work out who they could possibly appoint that will not require the entire structure to be rebuilt. So they need somebody that won't dominate Fletch and Murtough, won't moan if he doesn't get the player(s) he was looking for, and is preferably British (given that they are screwed now in terms of appointing any ex-players). That's why we're hearing rumours about Rodgers and Southgate. Poch might just about be palatable to them given his experience in the PL, of working within a budget (I doubt they will want to splurge again for a while), and the fact that he doesn't rock the boat, but he's unavailable at the moment, and will make them look stupid as they could have got him for free a while ago.

Rank incompetence.

I've been a supporter of United for over 40 years, through the lean years and the good ones.

The treatment of the Women's Team and their inspirational manager Casey Stoney had me very worried about the direction of this club. The whole Super-league business was another low point. But the continued acceptance of wasting the careers of good professional players, young and old with an incompetent regime built on old school friendships rather than professional attitudes and a demand for excellence has taken me to almost breaking point.

If the club continue with Ole in charge they are just interested in a quiet life and turning over some cash from a "visitor attraction" at Old Trafford.

If that's the case then I'm done. If Ole is in charge for the Watford game in any other capacity than as a "Final send-off" then I will be done following the club that I've followed for over 40 years.

Right now I can't even talk to my Dad about the club any more. His team was the Busby Babes, and I can't look him in the eye and talk about supporting United with any passion or heart, because it has just become a supermarket rather than the heart of a community.

Most unemployed managers are shoddy and definitely worse than Ole which isn't to say that Ole is remotely good. Some of them are probably better but are they interested in a caretaking job and are they interesting enough for a mid term contract? And there is no guarantee to get a CL qualification, so the cost vs benefit will be skewed toward what you know which is the cost of sacking the manager while having no guarantee to mitigate it with better results.

You are asking the board to take a risk that has a high chance of costing almost twice as much, it would have made sense for Conte but now that he isn't available it's difficult to justify it rationally. Would you do that for Howe without sweating profusely?
seriously?

at this rate, keeping Ole is the highest risk of even making the top 6. And that would result in tremendous losses, in sponsorships and revenues. And we all know how those Glazers love the money sign.
The atmosphere in the dressing room is only get worse, so will the performances.
Forget about recruitment top players in January, nobody will want to come play for Ole.

There isn’t any difference between Ole and Mazepin. Both got to the top because of nepotism. Both are awful at the wheel :).
If anything, Mazepin had a somewhat decent f2 career. The equivalent would be Haas hiring their truck driver because he has Haas DNA.

It shouldn't have been achievable, 11 pts is a hell of a lot to make up
Nar, never mind we made it up in just 9 games, there was still 63 points to play for when Mourinho was sacked. It was absolutely achievable but he was sacked anyway. LVG finished joint 4th but he was getting fired regardless as every man and his dog knew we’d done a deal with Mourinho months before.

So this “we wait till top 4 is impossible” is a myth, based soley on the sacking of David Moyes.

The benchmark should never have been to only get top 4 this season anyway, after we did that the last 2 years and have added Ronaldo, Sancho and Varane, with the other players in the squad having another year under their belt.

Aside from an absolute points total, we look totally disjointed and have just been schooled at home by both of our biggest rivals - at what point do we say that we should be legitimately challenging them? If it's not this season with this squad I'm not sure when it ever will be.

We are now in the territory of undoing the good work that Ole has done - players regressing and football as dire as ever. We don't respond to set backs and don't get a performance when we are in desperately in need of one. Why, as a club should we accept the standards of Spurs or Arsenal or any team for whom top 4 is a successful season with the embarrassment of riches that we currently have?
Agree with every word, it’s a fecking disgrace that it now may be the case that the only way he’s getting fired is for us to fall into the bottom half and our season to be utterly unsalvageable.

My brain can’t get to grips with that so I think the media are feeding on the silence as him staying, when I have to believe logic dictates Joel is telling him to feck right off.

I can't believe this. This club has sunk very low it feels impossible to come back up. Sticking with this awful manager will be the end of this club for good time.

I will stop giving a shit as long as the board doesn't. They don't care, why should the fans?

Name one premier league team that would have Ole as manager?

Nope, not one.

He is a club mascot. And they have surrounded him with coaches who are all learning on the job. They have never been in this position before and they don't know how to deal with it. It's a clique of football friends, and it runs right through the first team, as well.

No matter how bad you have performed, you don't get sacked. You can have a disastrous run of games and never get dropped. On current form, our club captain wouldn't get a game in the championship. We've got him up against Bernardo Silva on a wing and a prayer.

And that's what this club is at the moment, on a wing and a prayer. Hoping that something will just slot into place. A little bit of luck here or there.

That is not how you run a football club. You win by planning and having a strategy that you stick to. We have started this season like taking a jigsaw puzzle and throwing it up in the air, in the hope that all the pieces will just fall into place, because we're Man Utd!

Bollix to this, "we're Man Utd" nonsense. And your Man Utd DNA and the United way. It is just a stream of bullshit that they spin to kids. All the glories of the past were achieved through blood, sweat and tears. By a team people who all had a plan and stuck to it. We bought players who fitted into that system and when they didn't, we got rid. And no matter how many injuries we had or what we had stacked against us in terms of the opposition, we always went out to win a game of football. We didn't capitulate to our rivals before a ball was even kicked, and we never celebrated draws against teams like Atalanta.

The United way is to win. And you don't even come close. Ole. Times up, we need an elite manager with a coaching set up that can take us back to the top. Look at the array of talent in our squad and coming through the ranks. Any football manger worth his salt could get a tune out of this team.

Most of these managers are ending up at new clubs because the board sits around and does nothing. We're not avoiding changing managers due to lack of options, there's a lack of those options because we're refusing to change manager.

This is infuriating. Are they serious? So wait till this and next season are ruined. Who the f runs a business like that? Have the heard of the concept of damage limitation?
Do they know the consequences of missing UCL again. Pogba is already gone. CR7 will not play Europa league, he will ask out. Cavani will be gone too. If CR7 leaves I wouldn't be shocked if Fernandes ask out as well.
So you will need to bring in a striker, a CDM, a midfielder to replace Pogba and we need a right back. All with reduced funds and without the allure of UCL football. It will set the club back two seasons. We'll right back to where we were after Mourinho left.
And this basically confirms we are the new Arsenal. Top 4 is the new standard, not trophies

Time to organise another protest. Not just Ole, but the feckers above him too who think this shit is acceptable after we've just been comprehensively battered by our two biggest rivals at home!

It sounds good but it makes no sense. There is a lack of options because there is always a lack of high quality options, particularly during the season. It's the reality of Football and why clubs jump on good managers whenever they are available. We missed that opportunity with Conte and will have to wait for someone to make himself available or gamble on an unknown quantity.

The options are wait or gamble.

The Glazers and Woodward must be Liverpool supporters. I can't believe an actual United supporting board will take such decision. Yep, they are Liverpool spies trying to destroy the club.

I feel like I'm losing my mind just thinking about United.

And I know it's hard but Ole needs to resign for the good of the football club. Gatusto did at Milan. The match going fans have been kind not to turn on him at the games. He should repay that by being honest and doing what's right for the club. If this goes on to the fans will turn hi and they will be a 100% justified in doing so. And I can't believe the owners would put the fans in this position. Why wait till it gets ugly and fans start booing a club legend. If you force the fans to choose between UTD and Ole, they choose UTD. No good owners would let it get to that point.

Problem is - the players have already given up on him. There is no alternative now except sacking him. Once you lose the players, it's game over. Sure, the club might not find a permanent manager now, we missed our chance, but surely we can find a caretaker until the end of the season while in the mean time we negotiate with Hag to take over the next season. It's that simple. Continuing with Ole would leave us in a worse situation than when we sacked Ole.

Sky sources mean shit these days. They’re piggybacking off of Ornstein and it’s hardly like his Utd source is going to tell him “Yeah we’re sacking him tomorrow”

But it wouldn’t surprise me if we’re going to keep this farce going into the Watford game. The situation will be ridiculous if that happens.

No one seems to have a plan at the club. Solskjaer has shown he doesn’t know what to do even when spending a ton of money. The board don’t seem to know that Solskjaer is way out of his depth. Do the board network within the footballing community? It feels like they rely on Woodward and his posse, and possibly SAF who in his old age is a lot more sentimental than the 90s/00s version of himself. Solskjaer hiring ex Utd alumni like Phelan, Hartis and Dempsey to his coaching team. It seems very fecking insular in there.

A major sports entity is being ran like your average family business, and we’ve all heard of the trope where the kids and future generations run it into the ground.

I don't think its fair to expect Ole to resign, I''m sure he really believes he can lead the team and he'd be stupid to walk away from millions. Its also not fair to expect the supporters to boo him at games or flood social media. The board and the owners should simply have a good enough understanding of the game and want the absolute best for United to see he has reached his limit.

He could easily go to the board and say the players aren't listening to him and the coaches and he doesn't think he can turn it around, and he could leave the club through mutual agreement.

But that's my point, it's not the only criteria bu it's a big one particularly when there is no mid to long term alternatives or someone that would definitely outperform the likes of Conte, Tuchel, Guardiola, Klopp or even Moyes. And there is no way, that you(NK86) wouldn't take into account the timing of the contract extension when you think about sacking the manager, we need to be consistent and realistic here. It's neither greed nor incompetence, it would make no sense to sack him without thinking about it and giving him more time than you would in a different context, that's how Benitez lasted until January for Madrid. The only reason you say that is because your words have no consequences.

And I will reiterate my overarching point, the extension and the lack of quality mid term manager means that the club will logically need more time to pull the trigger, as long as things aren't toxic behind the scene. It's frustrating for us, the fans, but the extensions were always going to create that scenario unless the board is made of lunatics like Zamperini.
I understand your point, but what we are not privy to are the details of the contract. If they were so short sighted as to not be able to include a clause that would allow them to sack him cheaply, then they are incompetent, which I am sure they aren't when they are bloody billionaires. Again I don't know the clauses (might as well be top 4 mathematically impossible of out of top 4 after X number of games, etc), but I feel that it is also a face saving exercise and not just one which includes money related with terminating a long term contract. At least that's my reading of thr situation.

However I agree with the main point that the Board cut themselves at the knee by handing out contracts so early (it's not like clubs were lining up to hire our coaches) and that in itself shows massive incompetence from a footballing perspective as these businessmen may not be aware of the footballing landscape. It was an absolutely bizarre decision then which has now come back to bum them bad.

I don't think that's true, I would even say that it's not true at all and why he still has a job. The players are lost tactically and have lost confidence in themselves but I don't think that they have given up on Ole.

The worst part of this whole ridiculous saga, being Ole and his handful of supporters putting the selfish interests of one man above that of the club and supporters.

How the hell are we going to get this guy out.
After LFC pumped us, teams are reluctant to pump us again, as it will mean he gets fired (as we saw with MCFC).
I think the only way he goes is if the players down tools. I can't think of any other way.

There need to be more protests in the ground, not singing Ole's at the wheel like cretinous clowns. No doubt there will be another pretend attack on Woodward's house to distract the media again.
Nobody sang "Ole's at the wheel" on Saturday (apart from the City fans)

Can't see us making the top 4 no chance we'll be lucky to finish above palace at this rate, just look at how west ham battered the scousers whilst we got nowhere near them, the board are worse then the team, it's like being handcuffed to a sinking ship.
