How have they gone from drawing/losing all their games and now suddenly they’re on a great run of form and one win away from promotion

It’s even close to being a show about football.
It's not unheard of in the Championship isn't it?
Sunderland once went from bottom three in the middle of the season to champions by the end of it a few years ago

The hair color change and suit choice were fantastic as part of Nate's Jose heel turn. I also appreciated the RTJ at the end.

There was a bit in the post-Wembley episode where the coach got on a train from Wembley Park that the announcer said was the Metropolitan Line, when it was clearly one of the smaller underground trains utilised by the Piccadilly or Jubilee lines… now normally I’d forgive such a mistake on account of filming practicalities, but the Jubilee Line does actually run from Wembley Park, so it was clearly just lazy writing and research, and I’m forced to conclude that no one on this show has any fecking idea what they’re doing. Amateur.

Also everyone looks fat in the kits

The captain looks like a soccer aid player.

It is particularly sobering (at least from the lazy fan “Shaw/Lukaku/Lampard etc look a bit fat innit” POV - or indeed for anyone over 18 who likes wearing football shirts occasionally) just how loads of ostensibly very fit looking in-shape actors immediately look like comically unconvincing schlubby lardarses the second you put them on a bit of grass in a football kit…

Also all the Spurs and Man City players looked about 40… which I guess could’ve been a deliberate plot to make the main cast look more like real footballers in comparison? It was certainly a bold gambit if so. Though it didn’t work when they tried it in mental 90s football film and Sean Bean wet dream come to life “When Saturday Comes” so more fool them… but what do you really expect from people who can’t correctly identify a Jubilee Line train when filming at Wembley Park? I ask you…

Four episodes in. The advertisements for this series made it look like a boring romp. It is fantastic!

I'll be really interesting to see how the Nate character changes next season. Will the actor behind him suddenly start speaking fluently and confidently? I don't see how he can portrayed as an evil Mourinho parody if they stick to the stammering and umming-and-ahhing.

Is it even possible for a 40 year old super-short, chubby and insecure guy, who's possibly been bullied both at school/work and at home for his whole life, to become suave and confident overnight? It seems like a bit of a stretch to me, although I'm not a psychologist. Also:

Going from kitman to managing West Ham for a new billionaire owner in less than 2 years will surely make anyone think that they are unstoppable

Yeah bit of a ridiculous storyline and character. I don't think they knew what to do with him

Rewatching season 1, and there's so many things planted that are paid off in season 2. I wonder if the writers actually knew they had 3 seasons.

Nates turn is pretty wild though, so different in first season.

Part of me thinks they'll drop the Nate/Mourinho transformation about half way through the first episode of season 3. They've ignored their own twists before.

When season 1 was first out I read they planned 3 seasons.

so when does roy keane bang phoebes teacher and nate is going to tactically feck up lasso next season
Richmond is winning the league next season. Remember S01 ending? Lasso said that they get promoted at the 1st time of asking and in the next one pull off something no one imagined they could pull off.

And I do think S03 is going to be the last season.

Giving this a go, the Roy Kent character is a bit OTT, don't know if he's a poor actor or they wanted him to act that terribly.

Nah, that would be a bizarre leap even for this show. I think they will have them win the cup at best.

Roy Kent is very much meant to be like that I'd say.
I understand he's supposed to be a piss take of Roy Keane but the weird accent and everything is really off putting  looked him up and he's actually British too

Does seem to calm it down a little after a few episodes.

He’s awful. Some people absolutely love it. It feels like Facebook mums laughing at minion memes or something.

I really think if this is the last season (and strong chance it would be), they'll end it on something ridiculous and them winning the league with a storyline similar of "Leicester + Aguerooo" is what they'll pull off.

No one wants to see a show where they're in a relegation battle for 4 seasons then slowly moving up season over season.

Isn’t the whole show and almost every character in it cartoony and over-the-top? The gravelly voice is a bit much but I don’t think earthiness or believability are that important in a show about footballers in which half the squad is, conservatively, three stone too heavy to actually be or look like footballers.

Agreed. Although only 1 player is really fat.

Ah, I’m joking really but most of them just have ‘normal’ physiques, apart from the captain who is an absolute brick shithouse.

The others you can forget are actors, all I can think is "this fella is a shit actor" everytime he is on.

It's a character Americans would lap up and woop and clap at though.

Yep. No way he played pro football. Although he would make a good defensive wall.
