I'm going to repeat this over and over because it goes to show the incompetency of the board (and how foolish they were in backing Ole this far) and the short-sighted desperation of Ole.

West Ham wanted Lingard. Moyes was told Lingard wasn't up for sale early on in the summer. Lingard was told he'd be getting plenty of game time. We could have received £20-25m for him.

Instead?

Lingard is off for free in the summer. In about 6 months. We've passed up on £25m for a player that is riding the bench.

In the PL + UCL, he has played 82 minutes for us.

To put that into perspective, Dan James has played 128 minutes for us this season and he left 2 1/2 months ago.

Absolutely laughable.
Where did you hear that?

Wonder what lingard is thinking sat on the bench constantly when he could have been a regular for a team above us.

He has actually made an impact this season off the bench, which is more than can be said for some of those who the fans have been crying to get chances.

Despite that, his opportunities have dried up, has a right to be pissed off.

No he won’t. He’ll be playing - and scoring - in the Premier League.

And I’ve no idea what you mean about lacking ambition. Where did you get that impression?
I've seen him play for us for the last 2 years and aside from a total of one game, he has been appalling and show's little enthusiasm.

Looked much more "happier" at West Ham.

I say Salford, cos he doesn't like being away from mummy for too long. Just like Zaha. Mummies boys.

As Keane said in interviews, players of Man Utd are in cuckoo land. Lingard should have done everything in his power to push for a move to West Ham. I can’t understand why he felt Ole gonna give him chance especially when we bought Amad, Sancho and Ronaldo.
He is more likely to picked by England when playing week in week out at Westham than playing on bench at United. I just hope for this sake and Utd’s sake, Westham are still interested in him in January

I don’t know if you’re not aware of what’s been going on in his life (short version if you don’t want to read it is his mother’s depression left him caring for his siblings) but if you are and that’s your criticism of him then I don’t know what to say really. It’s okay to just not think he’s very good. But not every sign of weakness or humanity has to be weaponised against footballers.

Yes,

I'm fully aware.

But if a millionaire footballer cannot provide full time care and support for his family whilst producing performances that make him a better player who then can earn more money to help his family, then he is not being ambitious or enthusiastic.

I had similar situation, I work harder and worked a 2nd job doing 7am to 1am 5 / 6 days a week.

I made a lot of money but had to help people who could't. It made me more enthusiastic and determined to succeed.

I don't see that effort from him at work.

Maybe because his “mummy” has a fairly serious long-term mental illness? Despicable comment. Have a word with yourself.

It's the truth.

Wilfred who I know personally is this way. He was raised to depend on mummy and even now, he is influenced by others about pressures of not being at or close to home.

That makes no sense. Why would he be happier in London than Manchester if that was the case?

He's had more chances than most. Does not deserve anymore. Proven time and time again that he's not good enough. He should have been let go in the summer.

Why do you always post in such a self righteous way? It's very off-putting.
I'm not though.

But: The poster I replied to literally belittled Lingards struggles and compared them to himself and how he handled his better. How is that not rightheous? "ambitious or enthusiastic" Just wtf.

Don’t understand why we kept him.

We could of got a decent fee for him in the summer, only to keep him a year, not use him and let him go on a free.

Money Greed, he could have gone in last summer but hung on so he can move free next year for more money !!

Is he wants out in a loan in Jan !

Could see him at Arsenal or Spurs. His huge run of no assists/goals did it for me. He is probably only trying now so he gets a big contract somewhere. Utd need to trim their squad to provide more opportunities to young prospects.

That's actually not true. As mentioned above, Moyes himself said that United told them he's not for sale. It is well known Ole promised him more game time and has even said so in interviews.

Ole's broken promises and the club/managers stupidity to keep him despite the fact he's not needed is the problem here. Lingard has only done the best for his career, why would he sign a new contract when the manager has broken every promise he's given and the club doesn't want to sell him. He's probably looked at Bailly and is thanking God he didn't sign a new contract like Bailly did.

He should have been binned off abput 3 years ago.

Instead he got a new deal.

Could have been shipped out in the summer.

"No please stay, I'll play you, I promise, Bruno means nothing to me, it was all just a fling, we don't get penalties anymore, it's over"

Jaysus, just put him out of his misery and tell him to piss off for good.

This little twerp has some neck. Briefing against the manager and club months after the most shameless use of the mental health card you’ll see in any sport at any point.

Six more weeks until he’s off, is it? Unlikely. He’ll pocket the cash and continue to play the victim.

Not Jessie's fault at all here.

He is looking after his best interests both in terms of money, possibly, and playing time.

United handled it very badly as noted above, especially Ole it would seem.

In the mean time Ole in until forever ? Let’s appoint him as manager for life. Ole has talked shite about giving him more chances. He took his chances well this season, and our great manager still play his golden boys regardless how shite they are.

Greenwood ? He hasnt played well this season and Ole keep playing him at RW. Not to mention the other golden boys such as McFred, Maguire, Shaw, Bissaka who will always play regardless of their shit form

You can throw Pogba and Bruno into that also. It’s ridiculous how little form has any bearing on team selection. Pogba is about the only player to have been taken out of the team but even that’s more about balance than form and Ole not knowing how to set up with players like Pogba,Sancho,VDB. Lingard has done really well in his games this season. Can’t fault him now for refusing a new contract and being free to go where he can play again.

Is holding onto Lingard last summer Ole’s worst decision? There was the chance to get decent money, pure profit. By keeping him he annoyed Lingard, overstocked his squad and blocked Amad, Hannibal, and VDB from getting game time.

Collecting the massive squad is has got him even more all over the place tactically. I think the reason he held onto Lingard is because he’s a player who can pull the odd goal out of nowhere, which is what Ole relies on. To be now giving him away, when his value had increased, is ridiculous.

Woodward’s hand looks all over it too. He repeatedly overvalues players who are well past serving their purpose for United.

One more incident to prove how clueless and selfish management is (yeah that includes Ole).

Lingard was in hot form and that was the chance to make good money, especially when we already had players like Rashford, Greenwood, Sancho and others for wing position. We could have made 20 million on him, now Ole retained him and barely played him.

It looks like no one gives a feck about club and it's finances. 20 million and no one is even worried about it.

I cannot make sense of what Ole says as his actions do not reflect his words.
He has stated that he should have rested Bruno on occasion last season and yet this season he is not playing as well and IMO Lingard on the back of his form last season would have been ideal to at least get the last half hour in games in his place.
Some have whinged about the lack of squad depth and yet Jesse would be the best backup option if Bruno was injured for a period so I can see why Ole would have kept him this season.
