This was meant to happen based on our recent performance but he'll always be a legend as a player. Thank you Ole they'll still sing your name
Exactly this.

It boggles my mind that people are happy with the sacking itself. Ole is a legend and it should never be nice to see things turn out like this for him.

However, it would make sense to be happy about bringing in a superior replacement. Because that would actually be for the good of the club. But we're yet to see that, so let's give a minute.

If anybody's making this a personal thing about Solksjaer rather the actual future direction of the club, they've got their priorities wrong.

Bono's a cnut, but to quote the guy: "It's a beautiful daaaaaaaaay! Yeah yeah yeah yeah!"

At least, until the board hired some other inept clown and history repeats itself again.

His time as manager with United was the good the bad and the ugly.

Ugly - Liverpool 5-0, today's 4-1 v Watford, 4-0 v Everton, 6-1 v Spurs, 2-0 home losses to Cardiff, Burnley and CL losses to Young Boys and istanbul başakşehir

Bad - 0-2 v Arsenal, 2-1 v Sevilla, penalty shootout loss v Villarreal, 1-0 Bournemouth, the round 7 CL exit to RB Leipzig and 3-1 FA cup exit to Leicester

Good - 2-0 v Chelsea, 3-2 v Liverpool, 9-0 v Southampton, two wins away to PSG, a couple of wins against Man City, 5-0 v Leipzig.

This is what pisses me off the most. We knew that this was going to be the end result for a long while now, even before the Liverpool game. We had a genuine top 5 manager available and wanting to come and instead we bottled it... for what? What did we gain from these weeks wasted? Now we have nothing to rely on unless they've decided to give Zidane the keys to the city or something in an effort to bring him here.
Let’s see what Conte does as Tottenham before we get all pissed off about missing out on him

It should never have gotten to this stage.

The incompetents running the club should have pulled the trigger after the Liverpool game, possibly before that. Allowing him to remain almost a month later only served to damage his status and drag the club down further. This is ALL on the board.

Ole will always be a legend.

He won nothing. And he lowered standards to an absurd degree.

The worst thing is a lot of this suffering could’ve been avoided if they’d just done the right thing and sacked him after the Liverpool debacle.

I think we all agree he always tried his best and I have no doubts he’ll be warmly welcomed back as a fan and former player. The board made this more sour than it needed to be by not letting him go after the 0-5. Wish him the best.

Sad fact of the post SAF era is that our most memorable moments are when we finally sack a manager.
He has to go but I wouldn't have wished this on him. Doesn't diminish 1999.

Absolutely. I hope he takes them for every penny he can. Someone is going to benefit from the club's money and I'd rather it was him than someone with Glazer for a surname.
The Glazers would take their share regardless of whether Ole takes 100 millon out of the club. The millions going to Ole are going from the transfer budget.

He did steady the ship. It’s unsteady now, but the core is something that another manager can make great.
He steadied the ship, it was unsteady for another 2 years after that with the turbulent runs of form and he's crashed it into an iceberg in the last 2 months.

We need more than just a top-flight tactitian, we need a manager who commands respect from the highest paid players in the world. That's why Potter shouldn't be considered and Zidane/Conte should. Although Conte is out of the picture now. Only other option may be Poccetino.

Ole will always be a legend.
As a player - yes.
As a manager - absolutely no sympathy whatsoever. He took the club as a training field and enjoyed a free ride clocking 10m per season and fat pay check at the end.

Honestly, I hope Ole gets a big fat pay out. He has been hung out to dry by an indecisive board, and doesn't deserve the crap he had to put up with while they dithered.

People get sacked all the time. Ole walks away with millions in his pockets. No idea why anyone would feel sorry for him. Hes still an iconic player here. Just a terrible manager.

I have no ill will to Ole
But hopefully there's some clause that means there's not some £20M pay off... .
I hope he gets every single penny thats due to him, we've thrown a fortune at every manager thats left since SAF, Ole at least cared for the club and had its best interests at heart

I see the "Ole should not be allowed to work anywhere except the Norwegian league" trolls. You know what? F*** *** you little pieces of s***. You don't think Ole's position was discussed in Molde also? Once he had like the worst ever season start, getting humiliated by the worst teams in the league, and even lower league clubs in the cup. Then he bounced back by doing good results in Europe.. And Molde conidering their resourches in Norwegian league standards should be expected to be in the top two every year. Then you have Bodø/Glimt with less resources who would litterally humiliate half of the Premier League in the 2020 season, and atleast 1/3 of the Premier League this season.

You think there are only shit managers in Norway? I think the culture in Premier League clubs is whats wrong. Spoiled little brats doing their social media stuff, and not having any ability to step up and take responsibility for both themselves and older immature playboys like Pogba. You know most 20-25 year olds wihtout a proper education is mostly dumb as **** right? I sure know I was. The Norwegian league may be bad, as it should be. We are 5 million people, are playing mostly on artificial grass, and we are the most successfull winter sports nation of all time. What do you expect from us? But don't talk shit about our other Norwegian coaches, like Kjetil Knutsen in Bodø/Glimt that is playing more advanced football than probably any team in the Premier League will do in years. And they are utilising ulta modern tracking tools to make it work, making 22 years olds with a presumably wasted talent ready for the top clubs in Italy next year. You know how this happens? A culture for self responsibilty, measuring progress and not results. Then your 50 000 artic club suddenly trash Roma 6-1 after three years with progress, even if they sold half the squad every year. Kjetil Knutsen being 53 years old was sacked and sacked once again by boards similar to yours before getting a club who gave him time to develop his playing style. You think Haaland would ever make it growing up in England? I clearly doubt so. Solskjær may not be the best coach out there, but the player culture and the team that is going to back him up is more flawed than he is.

What I recommend? Hire any decent coach, but hire atleast 10-12 world class mental coaches to take care of the spoiled brats. These players needs to be humbled and shaped in to decent human beings again before they can be decent United players.

It’s really not a beautiful day, weird seeing fans say that, Ole is a club legend and has given is all, it hasn’t worked out for him but I’d say it’s a sad day to see how he was earlier and knowing we have to through this mew manager mill again. He may have had to go but it’s a shit day all in all imo

Of course it is and it isn't in any way something you've entirely made up in your head to have one last pop at Ole.
You actually believe the Glazers would give Ole's money out of their precious dividends? It's going out of the club. The Glazers have no money of their own, nor do they care one lick about Manchester United. They'll suck the club dry to the bone then sell when it is no longer profitable.

Why can’t people be happy with the sacking? He’s underperformed as manager. He’s still the same legacy as a player he’s had before this stint, IMO, but nothing wrong with being happy with an underperforming manager been given the boot

I remember when Sir Alex initially was going to retire, and again just before he actually did, wax lyrical about Luciano Spalletti, who was a tremendous manager for Roma.
