Agree with Adnan and the other posters above. Why are Hannibal and Amad not integrated into the first team squad by now. Dan James was sold and Jesse should have gone too.

I fear we are going to waste the best young talents we've had in years under this management.

We are seeing a waste of resources of both young and also the fringe players in the squad.
But Ole said he would give youth a chance!!??

Hope he can make the bench for a few games, would love to see him have a go on the RW.

Another fantastic talent. In some parallel universe rashford, sancho, Greenwood and diallo are flying and being rotated and used as part of a brilliant attacking set up. Its sad

I dunno if Leeds are just that bad but that speed of the game is just far too easy for him. It looks like a training match.

This lads the buissness but still happy we signed Sancho, our attacking options in years to come are excellent, we just need a coach who knows what he's doing and isnt terrified to use them.

Greenwood
Rashford
Sancho
Amad
Elanga

As bleak as it looks now, these lads give us something to look forward to with a competent coaching team in place.
That sounds great assuming they all stay here. Unfortunately I highly doubt that Amad Elanga and Mejbri are going to stay here and waste their time playing u23 matches. I won't blame them for a second if they dicide to leave. What's the point in staying here with a squad filled with 754 attacking options and a manager who is too much of a coward to use any of them.

I know it seems like such a waste of talent at the moment. Very sad.

Could be worth giving Amad a go, when he's actually fit!!
He's been injured for a long time, he needs time to build his fitness up, there's a Massy difference between under 23s and the first team.
He still looks light weight though.

Ole will barely play Sancho despite spending 70 odd million on him so I wouldnt hold out any hope on seeing Amad anytime soon.

From the highlights vs Leeds its looks as if that level is beneath him.

Not playing for the under 23s tonight.

Seems mad to me because we know he won't play at all tomorrow.

Atleast let him embarrass people in the 23s like he always does.

It’s really frustrating .
-The club spends on a new youth setup
-revamps youth recruitment
-spends €25 million (more is ad ons) on two very promising players for RW
-then proceeds not to play said prospects
-Loans one Out twice and while giving the other practically no playing time before trying to loan him out aswell
- then they spend another €75 million on another RW
-then they don’t know how to use him so bench him and change formation to play with no right wingers!!!!:lol::lol:

100 million for a position that is no longer key and 3 exciting and exceptional talents stunted in the process...we really are a shit show!

I said this towards the end of last season and everyone told me I'm talking none sense, this signing still confuses me till this day. At the point in time we signed Amad we needed a CB a RB a CM a CF and a starting RW, we ended up spending nearly 40 mill on 2 18 year olds that are nowhere near the level required to start for us, when we had a need for so many starters.

When Real Madrid were winning 3 UCLs in a row they signed Vinicius/Rodrigo because at that point in time they were happy with the quality of their first 11. We were struggling to make top 4 and signing 'potential' that wouldn't be ready for 3-4 years. Makes no sense whatsoever.

The worst thing about the bolded part is so far this season one of our youth products has the most amount of minutes in said position despite the 100 mill expenditure. Completely illogical squad building and signings, shades of what Barca did when they were signing any and everyone just because they showed glimpses of ability and potential.

Hopefully this guy gets to be more than the mascot Ole turned him into under the next coach. I’m very excited to see what he can do, although I do wonder how he will ever get a real look in here. I think he has something special though, and is comfortably the only natural right wing option.

This is an absolute key time in his development and I fear we’ve probably ruined him. Hope I’m wrong.

Ridiculous to buy one of the top two or three prospects in the entire frocking world and then not use him.

Should have been on a 1500-ish minutes pace last season and this season a similar amount in terms of minutes/games available.

There's plenty of time for him and if he has it in him theres no way we've "ruined him".

However for both Hannibal and Amad the next 18 months are where they need to be playing somewhere and getting themselves ready to be fighting for a first team place after that. At around 21 and 22 if they aren't playing regularly and impressing then thats where they might be "ruined" and never be good enough to start consistently for us.

Granted I'm sure we'd all be delighted if he was 20 years old and playing every week in our first team and doing great things, but theres loads of players who have ended up great who werent playing often in the first team of a big club at 20 years old. Its even more understandable not being patient because when we signed him we clearly didnt have £30 million to spend on a player who wasnt going to improve the first team very soon and would be a longterm project. Stuff like that, among other things, is why we're where we're at.

Could he come on as a sub tomorrow with Edi and Mason out, or will it be Lingard who gets the chance?

Personally, I'd prefer Amad.
If Lingard doesn't want to sign a reasonable contract to play as a sub and backup, then I dont want to see him. And no I dont want us giving him a bunch of games in the hopes he will sign. We'll survive without him. So sign now, be used as a sub and backup and the club can cash in on him in the future, or promote the youth over him who want to be at the club and play that role.

While I agree that Lingard shouldn't be given useless minutes when we need to do routine rotation; in game where there is still stake for our season, Lingard should be included for whatever his usefulness to see us through.

You don't want to play politic and risk our season further for unpredictable future (whether the new permanent manager rate Amad or not).

Our coming games in Spain is important. If Lingard can do a required tactical job better than his peers, then play him regardless his potential summer exit.

All I know is he cannot afford to waste this season. He has to play some football, somewhere if not here. Ultimately, due to expenditure and other factors, I think Greenwood and Sancho will be difficult to get past for him. I just think the club will give them every opportunity, and more often than not, on the right wing. It will take an injury crisis I think for Amad to get games.

He can go on loan in January and then reasses in pre season. He might still not be ready for a serious place in the squad given his competition is Greenwood and Sancho. He could very well be on loan for the next 18 months.

If there's some sort of massive injury crisis we play Bruno or Rashy out of position and put Shola on the bench. We don't need 30 first team players and it does feck all for the development of kids.

I'm done with players like Pogs and Marital that can't be arsed. Ship them off to newcastle and promote kids like Elanga and use the reserves properly like Van Gaal did.

The thing is, signing Sancho has just fecked him. Sancho isn’t ready made himself. He’s a young RW that needs games too in order to grow into a top PL winger. We can’t develop 3 young players at RW within the same squad. Something has to give, and Amad will be the easiest target to be the odd one out I suspect.

Interesting to see what the new manager would do with Amad, I think the managers we've been linked to (Poch and Ten Hag) would love him being in the squad and use his excellent ball control to the clubs benefit. Similar to how City use Mahrez.

If we need Lingard off the bench to save us we dont deserve success and short term success at the expense of our future isnt good enough

The question is what kind of future is that? Future where a star player however great he does, but ultimately the team is a failure. Or the actual needed culture reboot where result is required. You can make mistake but you go to fix it, rather than getting used to gambling for uncontrollable future outcome, while ignoring reality by accepting immediate failure.

I completely disagree. Sancho is young but he's good experience at a high level. Hes been shite for similar reasons as VDB.

Amad is nowhere near Sancho's level of development. He's played 1 PL game, 1 EL half and some apps in serie A vs Sancho's 3 seasons at Dortmund where he was a superstar.

I see Greenwood as a no 9 in the not too distant future and Ronnie won't be here indefinitely so I'm not two worried about Amad's chances here.

We'd do good to promote one of Amad or Elanga (and send the other on loan) next season when Cavani, Lingard, Mata, Pogba and Martial are moved on.

Sancho has a far more extensive CV, of course, but he is still not ready made that he can come in and make an instant impact. He will need a season, but then, Amad needs a season too. It it is going to take 18 months to see the Dortmund Sancho regularly (if that ever happens), then why not just invest that 18 months developing the young RW who joined 6 months earlier?

Greenwood may well end up as a 9 one day, but until then, he’ll play on the right. That period will be at least the next 18 months. Amad isn’t 14. 18 months of development could be pretty useful for him too. He’ll be 21 then. For me, the RW situation underlined poor squad planning who is the RW we have identified for the future? Is it Amad? Is it Sancho? Is it Greenwood? Is it even Pellistri? Common sense would dictate that they cannot all develop into our RW. It’s one thing to have competition for places, and another thing to have competition for the right to even develop. No way should we have been gathering 2 (or 3 including Greenwood) young players we consider elite talents all in the same position. That would be like if we went out and bought DDG and Neuer both on the same day because we believed in their potential.

wat

The future as a player who we can count on the play quite well each week before the age of 28 like Lingard, and then expect to be starting over star players or wont sign a new deal so the club loses out. Thats not a high bar. In fact if thats all Amad becomes it'll have been a dissappointment and yet its still much better than Lingard would have done for us

So it's better if Amad being given a chance, but we got dumped out of CL early? So it's better taking that risk for Amad to have minutes now before new manager appointed, who may as well seeing him as surplus with all the Greenwood, Rashford, Sancho having a decade worth of career with us?

The now is getting the result and getting over the line. You can't trust the interim to stay as permanent manager, so no point burden him with club future. Just get it done. We messed up Lingard situation, but if he's useful for now, just capitalize on it.

We dont know if Sancho needs a year to make an impact, and if he does it likely has very little to do with his development and a lot more with shite coaching and management. The same way we managed to make someone on the ballon d'or shortlist look like Cleverley last season.

Amad or whoever else can develop on loan too and also there's no guarantee he becomes as good as Sancho in 18 months (or at all).

I'd have been fine with not getting Sancho. In fact I thought the deal was off precisely because we bought Amad and Pellistri. Anyway it can still work out with Sancho on either flank and Greenwood up top if Amad develops into a starter, but we need a LVG type clear out first.

Yes. We're likely to get dumped out early regardless of who we play, so play the guy who is going to be at the club in 12 months

He and Sancho should probably be rooting for Galtier, who won Lille the league with a 4-4-2 and is doing very well with Nice in the same formation, as we could play Sancho and Diallo out wide and 2 of Rashford, Bruno and Greenwood up top with presumably a new midfield pairing behind them.

He should be the 4th choice wing option.

Rashford, Sancho, Greenwood & Amad.

Sell/release Jesse, Mata, Martial.
