Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
And where will he go in the meantime? City?
I imagine he'd be reluctant to come after we had the opportunity and passed/made him second choice. Any number of things could and will change before summer. I can see a few big clubs with managers that I think could be replaceable come summer.

For me personally, I come at this from the point of view that I don't want the club to make another bad choice. I like Poch and ETH, but I can quite easily see a scenario where we miss out on them for whatever reason and we're left shopping in the next tier of managers. I feel like this Poch opportunity, if it is true, would be the club falling on their feet. They're being presented with a great opportunity that they shouldn't make a mess of. If they start messing about like usual, I can see situations changing and us being the ones with egg on our face yet again.

We'll end up with Valverde, or whoever, permanently if they finish top 4 and get along well with Woodward and the Glazers. I can just see it.

Neymar is usually the hardest working player of the 3 (far more than Messi or Mbappé) but clearly wasn't in a good night.
Some barometer of hard work there. "I work harder than a player who has one foot in Madrid and the 34 year old who listens to no one"

They have no real pressure gsme till next Feb in the CL last 16.

I could see them sacking Poch and trying their luck with someone else.

Yeah, it's effectively a broken but incredibly talented team and the best way to manage is to play on the counter a fair bit, like the 2015 Barca CL winning team with Neymar-Suarez-Messi (2/3rds of the same frontline obviously, but 6 years older and less into tracking back or pressing) that I knew (and bet on) would win the final once Juve followed up their equalizer by continuing to try to dominate and push high up and leave themselves open to a counter from that trio.

We should hire Pochettino IF we think he's the man to turn a team with a Greenwood-Rashford-Sancho-Bruno front 4 (maybe Diallo instead of Rashford) and a Varane led backline into a quality team, since that's really all we can be reasonably sure of after next year.

Signing Rice would make a ton of sense if we get Poch, as he would fit what Poch did at Spurs and Southampton well, since Rice can be the DM when he plays 4 at the back and the 3rd CB when he goes to 3 at the back (which he learned from Bielsa). Other things that would seem likely to be replicated are Bruno playing where Eriksen did as a 10 who also gets a lot of time on the right of a midfield 3 with license to get forward. VDB could play the #10 role Deli Alli did when Bruno is more right-sided, with Sancho out left and one of Greenwood or Rashford up top.

So yeah, I wouldn't worry about the PSG stuff too much, if he's hired it should be because we think he's the man to lead our talented forward line and new midfield (maybe one more season of Fred as the 8 playing with a new 6 and Bruno/VDB) over the next few years.

TLDR: We should hire without looking at Poch's PSG time or Cristiano's existence. If the next manager is a success he'll be here for at least 5 years.
This PSG team has nowhere near the level of midfield as that Barca team. Other than Veratti PSGs midfielders are bang average. Fred would walk into that midfield.

Kimpembe is overrated as well. Messi is nowhere near the player he was during that Barca campaign either. People seem to compare this PSG to the great teams like the Madrid 3x in a row winners and that MSN team when in reality it's nowhere near it. PSG fans just seem to think that now they have Messi they're entitled to a champions league, I hope they get Zidane because even Zidane wouldn't win the UCL with this lot.

Not for me. With the amount of quality in that side they played premium quality rubbish football. Thats the difference between a mediocre manager and great ones. Pep or Klopp for example would have that PSG side playing brilliantly.

Still Ten Hag for me.
The front 3 don’t press or help in defense and their midfield is average.

How PSG play has little to do with Poch., We all know he's a high press coach and his front three don't press. So very little of what happen reflects on him either way
Played counter a lot with Spurs too..

God forbid we would hire someone who couldn't quite get that PSG team of superstars hitting the heights they should be. I can't think of any recent examples of any managers who moved on and have been successful at other clubs since.

Oh... wait.

There was a moment tonight where PSG were under siege at the end of the first half and Messi, Neymar and Mbappe were strolling back towards the penalty area. They do whatever they want, ego's are out of control

Either way, they have too many players in the team who do not work hard enough. That will always hinder them from being able to match up to sides like City in possession.

Their midfield is nowhere near good enough to make up for the difference in numbers.

All 10 of Man City's outfield players contribute to defending and are hardworking. So, PSG have worse midfielders and are outnumbered in hard-working players. A bad recipe to match up to City.

Struggled against Burnley and Wolves, tbf.

Weird that people seem to be using "Neymar, Messi, and Mbappe won't press" as the excuse, rather than the fact that he can't use those three world class players in a different way to what he's always done. Ideally, you want a manager that is some sort of tactician, and can put together a winning team from the best players available - not one that struggles to fit good players in a team just because they aren't submissive enough.

Ronaldo, Greenwood and Martial don’t press either.
Greenwood, Rashford, Bruno, Sancho could all be made into that type of player. You think Salah, Firminho and Mane were pressing machines before Klopp?

The problem with PSG is egos that have been enabled by their club and their money. They don't work for anybody. See them under Tuchel for example. All the evidence is there, you just need to get beyond your bias and look at what the problem is.

I agree with pretty much everything you've said, that's why I never wanted Messi but wanted a good midfielder or right winger instead. He made our unbalanced team even more unbalanced.

if he wants to leave he might as well just keep dropping Messi til the board sack him for it, would improve the team though so maybe not

Your team isn't unbalanced if you use a similar setup to the one France use. You have the players.

The funny thing with ‘flavour of the month’ or ‘hipster’ managers is that they mostly all turn out to be good. I want ETH.

Poch can't drop or threaten any of the front three, so they have no reason to press. The reason why Liverpool and City players work so hard is because they have a fear of their manager.

How many of City's players pressed before they went to City?

You can teach people to press or else they're not playing surely? No excuses.
Problem with your argument is that Poch has almost zero control over PSG, meaning he can't really use his powers as a manager like Klopp or Guardiola can. If he drops Mbappe or Messi, he'll be in a world of trouble with both Leonardo and the French press. Players aren't gonna try hard when they have no reason to.

PSG don't want to let him go now. Personally, think he won't survive this season there and he will be open to take the job in the summer at latest. Understand the fear as I don't believe this board at all, but there is a big possibility that Pochettino is not the man also. I mean..

Ever since he took charge ahead of the 2014-'15 season, Spurs only managed to secure three wins from their 27 Premier League away games against the big six.

No chance would Klopp do well with that PsG side, Pep I’ll give you. Klopp would wanna rip it up and start again.

That's a bit more complicated than that, PSG had games when the team worked together. Against Barcelona, against Bayern last year etc. The problem is, our midfielders are so poor that players like Neymar have to be in the midfield and on offense at the same time while pressing, which is impossible when you don't have the ball often because you'd run far too much (and we know his workrate isn't tremendous). It could have been sort of OK with 1 lazy player (mbappé) and 1 decent working player in big games (Neymar) but you added Messi to the mix and it became impossible to handle.

You can't press high when you can't trust your midfielders to carry the ball forward to the middle of the pitch at least, it's just far too much distance to cover.

You can setup that way but will you have more possession than City ?
I don't care about having more possession than City. First because it's not about City and secondly because possession isn't everything.

After trying the last two days to see the pros if he gets appointed and arguing for his case, I'm not convinced.

His best football came five years ago which is a big red flag and something United haven't considered with their last 3 managers.
