So essentially he's the interim manager for this position and we put him in a retainer position for another two years in case we can't get our guy or the new guy fecks it up bad. Smart moves by the club.

Forget the 6 months stint, its the 2 years consultency whilst being able to make crucial and important club decisions that we should be excited about, not only is everyone going to learn from him, but he can help restructure the football side of this club just as he has done with say RB Leipzig, and get us functioning properly from board to pitch, FINALLY, only many years to late but better late than never i guess. The Murtough effect.
This for me is the main thing. I'd be happy with a top 4 finish to end the season. It's what happens after hopefully it's not a 'fake' consultancy just to keep him happy but he has a real input on the running of the club in every aspect, including the choice of new manager.

In the video, he clearly explained he doesn't like square passes and also said he doesn't like GK having lot of touches. So we will press and play direct football. Won't be patient possession football.
I'm expecting some fantastic Rashford and Fernandes performances in that case, they're made for direct football.

Love how in the video above he states that 30% of goals are connected to set pieces, so then asks the room, 'so how much of our training time should be devoted to set pieces?'.....they all sit there like dumbass school kids....he's not talking rocket science but might as well be to that audience. Hopefully our lot can catch on a bit quicker!

He'd work well with Poch as well.
Pochettino allegedly wants power and to be the main voice. A priori, that doesn't fit with Rangnick, a traditional head coach seems more suited.

Nah. I don't think Rangnick would come to even United for an interim-and-done managerial role. He wants that wider power and influence to shape a club. It is why he rebuffed Chelsea. This is why this appointment feels very exciting. It is a recognition from Manchester United that they need more expertise they don't currently have to be the best they can be,

The hipster's choice. Interesting choice but the consultancy role sounds vague. Sounds like it stops short of him becoming a full DOF.
They have only just appointed a DoF they can't officially kick him out before he really starts the job.

Wow, brilliant news. We retain his services after 6 months too.
Yeah it’s a really good move, I think it will be beneficial both on and off the pitch. I enjoy listening and reading to his views on football, and I like that your club is going to retain him afterwards in a consultancy role. As well as being beneficial to United I also think it’ll be very advantageous to whoever it is who comes in as the permanent manager, as he’ll have had time to assess the situation and give them a good insight.

Just to see the fan base united on the decision. Hope the club fortune changes and we start winning big. Really happy with the appointment.

Considering the grief Woodward gets, he's clearly more connected and respected than people seem to paint.
He’s done a good job for 12-18 months IMO. He’s only going because he was against the Super League.

This is extremely interesting. He mentions his coaching style, and he also mentions the focus he has during training and playing style. The issues he mention related directly to us. The transition from attack to defence, the focus on forward attacking football, how to deal with pressing teams, and also the focus on set pieces.

This is the man we need right now.

Does anyone know anything about this guy? I'd never heard of him before a couple of weeks back.

Imagine sacking Carrick with his 100% winning CL record. Criminal.
He turned Chelsea down which is good enough for me. He was also in the running for the England job. It was between him and big Sam for the next manager and the feckwits of the FA....well, you know what happens next.

No clue what to expect. Anyone daring to predict which players profit from this appointment and which don't?

He was elected as an executive member of the ECA, of course he is well connected and respected.

This is why I find it hilarious that people think he's more ten Hag than Pochettino.

Do people think Ajax play like Klopp's Dortmund?
I think a lot of those pushing for ten hag on here don't really understand much about him

Why many are so excited that much? Can you tell us more about this guy! Has he won something big ? Or managed a top side?

I saw few didn’t want Valverde although he won la liga and the C.L but cheer for this guy? Yes his famous interview was really top notch and he is surely has some ideas to implement but why all the fuss about?

6 minutes of him talking got me believing again!
