Carrick in the after match interview thought Chelsea penalty was the wrong call by the ref. I'm not so sure about that however didn't the same ref wave play on when Kante made a similar foul against Martial in a previous game v Chelsea?

The result is good the performance was dire.

But that's the tough run away now. Get Ralf in get 3 days coaching for Arsenal. Then look to go on a run over Christmas.

The result is good, the performance is not.

I'm still mad about Fred missing that chance though.

Yep it's an awful result for Chelsea having seen their two title challengers absolutely smash us

It's games like today you wonder how Chelsea are going so well as up front they're so shit. Tuchel might actually be the best manager in the league
It can be pretty hard to score even against a Championship side that just puts 10 men behind the ball. When a team with the individual quality of ours does it, the task becomes monumental.

I mean, we played Matic, McTom, and Fred in midfield and our goal still came from Bruno, our false nine, clearing the ball at the edge of our own box. No matter how creative they are, this was going to be tough for them.

Have to think about giving Rashford and Bruno a serious break from football though, because my god they are both in the worst form of their lives.

Rashford especially.

Chelsea had six chances on target from 24, that is not very good at all.
Yep utd had 3 . That's why stats are bollocks sometimes. Fred makes a hash on 88mins pass it to Ronny ffs, it's a different story. And a realy soft pen . It's was a gutsy performance and I don't mind that in the place we are at the moment. Missing our 2 CB as well. Good result .

Are you going to tell me we can't dominate a midfield of Jorginho and Loftus CHeek? We have 3 guys and we can't outplay them? Give me a break. I'm tired of seeing us play so scared
Mate we have Fred, McTominay, Matic and a second choice back defence (plus AWB). No, I really didn’t expect us to dominate a team as well coached as Chelsea.

Bit annoyed by media driven drivel, its so blatant to see with united. In the post match interview think it was Geoff Shreeves who said to De Gea something like "is it a shame the players were working so hard and finally running after a good man had lost his job..." Since when did Ole suddenly become mother teresa! He lost his job because he was doing a crap job, as happens to hundreds of coaches and thousands of people in every walk of life.

The other weird thing is sky trying to say how the players suddenly were pressing and running and it was clear to see against villareal and chelsea. To me in both games I saw the same random pressing, same slow reactions and the players seemed to give the same effort. Im not a follower of the idea that players suddenly try less. The difference is quite clearly that Carrick gave them a very defensive more compact structure to work with which any group of good players can pull off. Its not rocket science to get a team of good players to play defensive for 1 or 2 games, the hard thing is to get a team of good players to dominate games in an attacking manner. Thats what separates the great managers from the mediocore ones. Hopefully Ralf sets us in the right direction for that.

Is he going to put Maguire back in midweek? Not sure he should.

Forums really are prime for over analysis aren't they. For obvious reasons.

Got a point away at a top side. Cheers, see you later.

Lot worse performance than under Ole but get an undeserved point.

Ralf's got a hell of a job on his hands if he keeps this coaching staff.
Totally deserved point. They didn't have many clear cut chances and still had to get past DDG. It's not like they were cheated out of anything.

Ill take the draw and move on. Anyone expecting we were going to do anything other than try avoid defeat firstly and then try to nick it surprises me to be honest.

Its a decent result (its Stamford Bridge ffs) especially considering the last few league games.

Great result ..very poor performance..only 3 attempts on target is never going to win a game at this level. Fred should have scored, shame he didn’t lay it off to Ronaldo who would have buried it no problem …Rangnick has work to do !

PSG says hi.. they pay Messi 750k/week, Neymar 750k and Mbappe 500k. Then they have a lot of players in the 200-300k region such as Icardi, Di Maria, Wijnaldum, Verratti, Marquinhos, Ramos, Donnarumma.

But yeah, we’re in top 3 highest salarys.
You’re being pedantic. Yes, PSG wage bill is incredible. But we aren’t far behind. And for the highest paid players in the world to get a pat on the back for bravery to come to Chelsea, sit deep and defend to, ultimately, a draw isn’t the kind of message we should be sending, nor should it be the mentality for top paid professionals.

If the reports are true and Carrick was leading the training sessions and a big influence in tactical preparation under Ole, it’s no wonder we are In this state. He looked deer-in headlights to me during the interviews.

Thank God Ole wasn’t in the last two games, at least Carrick has got decent results which Ole definitely wasn’t getting.

Rangnick has a huge job because of Ole’s mismanagement, I’m not so fussed about the coaches as they’ll be given much more detailed instructions and will be working for someone with a plan. If they can’t do what is asked then they’ll be gone.

So, let me get this straight. One week ago everyone was negative, but now that we got a freak result and a new interim manager, we should be positive? Right?
No, exactly the opposite.

If that perfermance had been when Ole was manager, those defending/making excuses for Carrick would be rounding on Ole vehemently.

Who cares about performance? The new coach hasn’t even started yet and people are already complaining. It’s going to take some time.

Pull the other one. You're on a feckin mission here.

Nobody really cares, except you, because Carrick isn't and will not be the manager long-term. Ralph is coming in and Carrick will do what he's told or he'll be moved away from the first team.

As he had feck all time and the team were leaking goals he concentrated on making us hard to beat. He got us into the next round of the CL and a point away at Chelsea. There really isn't anything to get worked up over and it could have been a lot worse.
Feck all time! He's been part of the management for ages.

There's making a team hard to beat and then there's not even making an effort to attack, even on the break. His "tactics" were to play 11 behind the ball and hope not to concede. Even then, Chelsea should have scored a few.

Pardon me for not being a happy clapper at this abject performance.

Why are we mentioning failed managers again? We got a decent point, all things considered. It would have been good even if we were going for the title.

It's the result on Thursday that'll really point to whether we can make (and how easily) top 4. Let's hope we have a better structure and that McTominay doesn't play, so we can play with eleven football players on the pitch again.

We got the point which is amazing. With a bit of luck we could have even won.

You can't just be mediocre and dominate the game against Chelsea. Solid result and performance was C+.

Oh come on, you surely don't believe that was a deserved point? We were thoroughly outplayed for 94 minutes, our only saving grace was that Chelsea were shite at putting their chances away.

A gritty performance. C'mon! It was a shite performance! It was a lucky result, and yes, I would've taken it any day, any time!

Imagine Ole managed this game and we drew 1-1. Would you have said it was a flawed, but gritty performance? If your answer is yes, then fair play. Most here would've said the performance was unacceptable. A few here are saying just that. We're not complaining about the result. No-one in red is complaining about the result.
It's the context, isn't it? We're addressing the big picture, Ole's gone and we've a universally popular choice made for his successor. My comments were made in the light of the task facing Carrick and the player's today. I've sat through Liverpool, City, Watford so yeah, taking everything into account, I'm pleased with that today.

Holy shit. The football forums have got more negative since Ole was sacked. Despite two objectively good results, consecutively, in tricky fixtures. And the Rangnick feel good feeling. Fecking miserable bastards everywhere. Ugh.
Results = good, performances = terrible.

Rangnick = hope for the future if he sorts out both players and coaches.

Almost a mirror image of the away game against Newcastle way back when we were in our prime and Eric bailed us out with the winner.
You’d think this was the first time a performance and result like this ever happened.
A win and a draw against all the odds inside a week.
Come on enjoy the moment.

Ole's mismanagement plus the same coaching staff.
