If you count manga to live-action(i.e. skipping the anime step): Edge Of Tomorrow.

That's the only one I can think of, though. As far as anime to live-action goes, I can't think of a single good movie/TV show.
Ooo if we're including manga then you surely gotta add Battle Royale and Oldboy for live-action. I am a Hero was decent too.

Edit - Unless we're talking about English remakes only?

It's pretty difficult to make anything good when all of the source material is shit. Bring it on, neckbeards

Battle Royale doesn't count. Yes, it was a manga but the manga was based on the novel itself, which the movie is based on, so Battle Royale is in fact a live-action adapation of a book.

I really have no clue, mate. American remakes don't seem to give a toss about what makes a character who they are or why a story gets so many invested in general. You'd have thought that - by now - that just slapping the name of a popular series without putting any care or thought into the actual product would be an obvious no-no, but here we are again!

I can't wait for Netflix's Monster where Johan is a Joker-esque madman and Dr. Tenma is this badass fighter played by Liam Neeson in an all action extravaganza directed by Michael Bay.

We are on episode 8 of the live action. Watched episode 1 of the original and plan on watching all 26. As usual anime fans are the weirdest crybabies. There is nothing wrong with the live action. It would be impossible to bring every element from a cartoon to live action, but they have done a pretty awesome job.

Have't seen the Anime in a long time, finished the new one last night going to be honest I enjoyed it. Not amazing but pretty good reminded a bit of Firefly (think the Anime influenced Firefly so makes sense).

You have a point. I know a fair few anime nerdz who like sentai shows (i.e. live action shows like Kamen Rider) and I don't see much difference between this and those.

I mean I still think it looks crap but you have a point.

Muck, I watched it all cause the anime was probably my fave animated series ever. Its trying to be cool and jazzy but comes across as if written by a 12 year old. And oh my but they did manage to remove every bit of meaning from the ending... Its like they watched the anime, thought jazz, one liners and violence. After 7 shocking episodes it picked up a little for the next 3 only to murder the finale.

So you've only ever watched one episode from the anime and are saying the live action has "done a pretty awesome job" of adapting it? How does that work?

Not really. I always look at these type of remakes as bonus, not something that competes with the original. As my username suggests I am a fan of Douglas Adams. When THHGTG movie came out their were a bunch of people saying it was crap. I viewed it as a bonus. Even though the movie was made after he died, he wrote the screenplay for the movie and it was different than the books or the BBC mini series. It was a bonus and it was supposed to be a little different. So the anime fanbois should be happy they are getting a bonus over twenty years later. I think the visuals and sets are awesome in the live action. The story is not terrible but of course it will be a little different, it should be expected. If you are judging the live action as a stand alone, it is pretty good. Visually more than plot in my opinion, but very entertaining.

Last night a friend asked my son to play the bass to Tank Cowboy Bebop. My son plays jazz but has never played Tank. He is sight reading it from a Rocksmith video. I wish I had a tenth of his talent.

Disappointing but hardly surprising given the reception.
