As much as I want Hamilton to win it, I don't want the penalty to determine that last race (if Max is to be penalized).
This is the attitude the stewards etc have taken, which is basically just enabling Max to consistently go too far, as nobody is willing to punish him as it might affect the championship.

It'll be the same excuse here, there won't be a penalty.

Looking at slow motion Max drifts into the middle of a very narrow section to "allow" Lewis by. It only opens up after contact. I suspect Lewis has no idea and was in the middle of planning his overtake and then attempted to slow but was too late. Dirty by Max, error by Lewis.

Yeah, I think so too. Even with the track layout changes in Abu Dhabi, I tihnk Mercedes will have the upper hand. Red Bulls should be faster in the twisty parts, but last year Mercedes had older power units, and Red Bull had fresh ones. This year Mercedes have quite fresh power units for Abu Dhabi.

Unless they crash into each other of course.
Let's not forget Lewis was just back from Covid too and absolutely shagged post race. There was a rumour that Mercedes ran a lower spec in the last race to simulate 2021 conditions too but not sure that's confirmed.

It's going to be close.

Merc could do that as well, use Bottas. They were dirty as well today. Both teams and drivers showed their true colors.
Honestly Merc as a team are getting more and more unlikeable. I understand people not liking Horner, he whines a lot yeah, but Merc aren't much better.
Having seen the F2 races, I expected there to be a crash or two, but nothing like that.

Honestly, I think Max would struggle to win on those tyres in the end, but he gave the position back twice for the same incident, and still got a 5-second penalty.
Confused about that one. Was the penalty for something else?

Feel like Hamilton had more than enough time and space to react to Max slowing down to let him pass, but then it's difficult to tell how much a car is slowing down from tv images. If he was brake-testing, then it's dirty, but it didn't look like he slowed down that violently. He did seem to move at the end when Lewis was going to the side though. Either Mercedes or the FIA were too slow with the radio messages too. Lewis finding that much pace with a broken end plate is pretty crazy.

Max were a bit reckless in some of the corners, Lewis were wrong to force Max wide after he let him past for like the third time in the race.
Feel like both parties can be understandably aggrieved about events.

Perez and Leclerc crash was down to racing incident. Leclerc had nowhere to go, Perez didn't have much space on the right iirc. Mazepin and Russell crash could've ended up being a lot worse, thankfully seems everyone is okay.

Vettel kept getting hit by everyone.

What a mess.

That inside move from Verstappen when they were three wide into turn 1 was beautiful though.
Agree with this. Though I think the dirty stuff from Mercedes (both Bottas and Hamilton) should be looked at too.

I think also the point of the DRS zone is true for Max, he was purposely trying to earn the DRS to re overtake him in the right place which is why he slowed down in such a stupid place

Perez is a good shout. Good driver and decent enough bloke despite his team.

The two brits, Lando Norris and George Russell would be good to support as well. Both very young, likeable and top talents. Russell will be moving to Mercedes to be Hamiltons team mate next season as well which makes him more interesting to follow.
Thanks. Gonna keep an eye on them, specially my fellow George.

Looking forward to what promises to be one crazy race next Sunday.

From Sky F1

Wolff unhappy with Verstappen
"I don't think this is yet done," says Toto Wolff to Sky F1 if the result was the right and fair one.
"The result at the end, winning the race, I think he [Lewis] deserved it.
"We could have been out a few times with a broken front wing and I don't want to have dirty laundry in here but...that was spectacular but not a good race."
On the incident where Hamilton hit the back of Verstappen, Wolff suggests: "What the telemetry shows is he's slowing down then accelerating again and then slowing down.
"Lewis didn't know [Verstappen had been told to let him past] and I think that was the wrong sequence of messages that came through there."

Isn't that with all drivers though? Can't remember Hamilton being in the wrong his whole career as well.
I'm not sure about that, Hamilton has apologised before for incidents (Rosberg crash in Spain for example), and has grown up a lot from the diva he used to be.

If Max raced under the same team principles that Lewis did, he'd have been forced to grow up by now (or have been benched), but he's in an atmosphere that encourages his more spoiled behaviours, mainly because Horner is the worst of the lot in the paddock!

I really hope any penalty doesn't affect the next race as this is so exciting.

Be great if they are both on the front row at the next race.

This one incident is being targeted post race but they are forgetting, Max did two very questionable moves into T1 as well. Also let Hamilton by later on and immediately raced it back which was ridiculous.

This one will run all week, all the spice.

He was correctly penalized for those 2 T1 incidents though. Once was the giving back the position under red flag before the restart, and then them whole give back position / 5-second penalty for the second one.

As much as I want Max to win it, Hamilton has got this. Car is so much better these last few races. Exciting season though.
A few races ago everyone was declaring the race to be over. Hamilton and Merc have battered Max and RB since Mexico.

It’s such a shame for the sport that Max is like this.
So much talent and he just ruins it with his attitude.

This last race its going to feel like the winner will be whoever survives the inevitable accident rather than who is the best driver.

This dude's already got it in his mind to tactically end the race for himself Lewis next week.... "yeah equal......except my advantage on race wins"

Lewis is gonna GOAT his way to a safe and secure win from the front, expect him to smash it all weekend, he ain't chasing him.

Correct but he isn’t learning is he?
