They did demolish Spurs and had a good win at Leicester although neither were much good at the time. Just same old with them, get close to establishing themselves in top 4 and just start losing again and you'd certainly fancy Man. United and a Conte led Spurs to finish above them. Could Arteta survive yet another season without CL especially when they have no europe commitments.
Beating spurs is like saying we destroyed spurs. Didn’t really mean much because it’s Spurs.

Any half decent team have turned Arsenal over this season

They beat a load of relegation fodder plus two sides who’ve since sacked their managers. Any time they play anyone decent, they struggle. Arteta did slightly improve them defensively but going forward they’re awful.

He's improved them slightly defensively because they play incredibly negative, defensive football.

They go 1-0 up against anyone and then immediately park the bus.

100% this. He plays boring football, spent over £150M, been there 2.5 years to just beat the smaller teams and gets trashed VS the top teams.
Most managers could do a better job than that.

Ultimately Arsenal have worse owners than ours and that's why they've been worse than us since... well almost decades now

He's like the opposite of what Ole was. We used to sit in, go behind and them come alive. Arsenal were comfortably better than us initially, went one up and then became Stoke under Pulis... neither is/was close to being good enough

This. They screwed up initially and got a lot of flak but it was against the top 3 sides in the PL + Brentford so it was somewhat understandable.

Then they beat a bunch of cannon fodder (that too not very convincingly, remember the Brighton and Palace games?) and everyone hyped them up too much.

Arteta is pretty useless, I hope for their sake that their new signings develop well in the next few years or they're proper screwed.

I love how Arteta is sticking with this Tavares guy who costs 1 or 2 goals every single game.
In fairness, he dropped him tonight but brought him on whilst up 1-0 and subsequently lost 2-1 with him ball-watching again. A truly horrific footballer.

One thing that struck me about our match against Arsenal was that I barely knew anyone on their team. Now I will admit I don’t watch anywhere near as much football as I used to when I was younger, but even so, I still have a pretty good idea of who the general players are for City, Pool, Chelsea and even Spurs, but many of the players on the field during that arsenal match had me like  Who is this?

And let us not forget they have spent around £375m gross in the last 3 windows. Arteta has taken them years back. People talk about progress but truth is there hasn't been much, in fact he has taken them backwards to the point where 6th, 7th will be looked as an achievement.

I know quite a few Benfica fans who think that selling him was a better piece of business than what they got for Joao Felix, which is really saying something.

not to say what they said isnt accurate or inaccurate but you have a fair amount of United fans that think singing back ronaldo was a mistake. Point being sometimes fans chat shit

And this is after they went 343 immediately after his hiring. Fluked the FA Cup win and has served up midtable finishes in back to back seasons under his management.

They have scored 18 goals through 15 matches in the league, and their 7 game unbeaten streak or whatever it was, was against lower opposition.

Arteta's style is boring as feck. The whole tactical genius shit needs to die. He's done q poor job and doesn't even promote an attacking style.

Sure - but it's not like they have a particular reason to shit on Arsenal. All I know is they were very glad to see the back of him.

I saw this on AM but their managerial appointments post-Wenger have followed the United pattern post-Fergie

Moyes / Emery - good managers for smaller clubs, but out of depth at a bigger club.
Lvg+Jose / Arteta - tumescent football passed as tactical genius, survived way longer than necessary after winning/fluking one cup
Ole / ??? -- vibes

Feels like they might go the Vieira route or something next to bring back good vibes.

Vieira is actually doing an ok job at Palace tbf. He’s definitely going to manage Arsenal at some point.

LVG and Jose are among the greatest managers in the last 20-30 years. Arteta won't even make it in top 100 if we prepare list of managers from last 20-30 years.

Just saw a stat that their wins in PL came against the bottom four, two against teams who have sacked their managers and against Leicester who are underperforming as well.

Was kind of worried that they were doing well but lads, it's Arsenal.

I think it speaks volumes when Tierney played for Scotland in consecutive matches and having watched the game v Denmark, he was absolutely outstanding.

Arteta continues to sideline him for Tavares who is an absolute bombscare. The difficulty witgnsucyba decision is that Arteta played Tierney last night and whilst he was on the field, Arsenal were winning 1-0, Tierney had an assist and at the time, a clean sheet.

Arteta brings on Tavares and they lose 2-1. His role in the equaliser was pathetic. A truly horrific footballer who runs quite fast and does a trick now and again. Arteta’s stubbornness to admit defeat to playing someone so clearly out of their depth is a worry for Arsenal.

Arteta did however make the correct decision in dropping Aubameyang. He has been absolutely shocking of late.

Martinelli, Saka and Smith-Rowe are decent players. Pepe is hit or missbut unlike Aubameyang, rarely gets a chance.

Wanted to create a thread for ramsdale but wasn't too sure so I leave it here.

The pretty much maligned transfer from a relegated side has proven to be a wonderful piece of business. I too was one of the detractors but he has been supreme for them and it doesn't seem to be a purple patch at this point.

Seems to be nailed on as England's next goalkeeper which i thought would go to our own Henderson beforehand.

Anyway one to keep an eye on as he is still pretty young so plenty of room for growth as keepers usually don't hit their peak till their late 20s early 30s.

I keep thinking he's going to Cantona-esque karate kick someone when he comes to catch the ball with the way he extends his leg out!

Now that you've signed Arthur ( :( ) I'll definitely be watching a lot of Arsenal for the rest of the season.

I'm an united fan don't let my keen interest in arsenal fool you

I'll be very interested to see how Arthur performs as well , though he has the quality he gets tired rather fast , not a good portent seeing how much more relaxed series a is compared to prem. But yeah he might really help them develop something in midfield.

Don't think he's actually signed yet, so maybe hold fire until it's actually confirmed.

Yeah, it should've been obvious, really! My bad, sir!

You're right there. Arthur's stamina in general is lacking, so that, combined with his questionable attitude, shows how high Arteta thinks of his considering how hard players need to work in his team, and how he's got no time for bad apples.

No offense taken
In regards to Arthur ,There's no way that they aren't aware of his stamina and attitude issues so I'll assume he's going to put him next to workhorses who compensate for his lack of workrate, whether it'll work or not we'll see.

Are they not replacing Aubameyang? Lacazette getting a serious injury means they have to rely on Eddie Nkeitah to score :houllier:

And also both Lacazette and Nkeitah contracts expire at the end of the season.
