I think it has been decent so far. Plenty of things it can improve like the cgi and monsters, but they haven't been terrible. I think it's spent most of its budget on the landscaping visuals, as those have been great.

I've liked the actor playing Mat the most so far. Rand's actor is growing on me, but thought he started off poor. Still not sure about the guy playing Perrin, as I don't think he has been great so far. Moraine, Lan and Logain I think have been done really well. The rest have been ok for the most part.

I do feel it has jumped about a bit, and it feels like we are shifting forward rather quickly but I guess that is to be expected somewhat.
Rand and Egwenes actors are growing on me. Mat, Moraine, Lan, Thom, Logain and Nynaeve have been really good. Perrin looks the part but the acting has been a bit off.

I do think with the introduction of a lot of older characters/actors in episode 3/4 and the writing being better it's made for a more captivating and engrossing show.

Also special shout out to the lady playing the grandmother tinker. Carried that scene and loved the line "peace is the best revenge against violence and life is the best revenge against death"

Maria Doyle Kennedy, she's a talented actress with a pretty huge cv and tons of experience compared to most cast on the show.

I think it'll be like Thrones where the main cast grow into their roles while the supporting cast gets bigger and better as time goes on. Theres a clear difference for now in the older actors (Moirane, Lan, Liandrin) vs Rand, Perrin and Egwene at least for now. Zoe Robins and Barney being the exceptions being great from the off.

And a singer/songwriter too apparently. Talented lady. I like the comparison to thrones though when you think about it how many of the stark kids turned out to be good actors.

Rob- maybe
Jon- iffy
Sansa- nah
Arya- possibly
Bran- meh
Rickon- dead

I think Richard Madden has grown into a decent actor. Jon well he's better than he was in that Silent Hill movie if that count but everytime he was offered acting school he kept saying "I' don't want it, never ave". I think Alfie Allen, Emilia and Richard Madden all improved. For the Starks not so much. Theres hope for Rand and Egwene. I thought Rand did better ep4 than in 3 where he was kinda ropey.

Yeah its true that the non starks fare better with the greyjoys and Bolton kid top of the class. They were also in a similar age range with the wheel actors whereas the stark kids were on average probably quite a bit younger

Heres hoping anyway last thing we need is a coked up Sophie Turner claiming to be the Dragon Reborn.

Just watched today's - very strong episode. Not that much moving on plot wise overall but it's a good 'un.

I think the animated shorts they have produced are phenomenal, annoyingly obscured by Amazon when they should be using it to drive interest in the live action show.

They distill the essence of WOT into 2 mins.

A nice episode to do some world building, slow down and get some character building in. I was real worried about Loial when I saw the visual but the actor was fantastic. Some real nice easter eggs in there and a nice focus on the warder/Aes Sedai bond. Good time to slow down for a bit and let people take things in and go through alot of stuff they've mentioned before as opposed to fire hosing new viewers with stuff like earlier episodes.

I'm enjoying this. I've no idea how the story goes so it's nice to just let it flow. Also like that it's once a week, leaves something to look forward too.

The visuals and sets/CG help it a lot. I'll ditto what everyone else has been saying, Perrin is noticeably the weakest actor. His range seems to just be that grumpy moody face he does. But the overall acting has been getting better the further along it gets so maybe he gets better too.

You are welcome, they deserve to be watched, whoever is behind them has really delved into the minutiae of WOT. The breaking of the world episode might have been a great way to start the main show, a live action version of that as a prologue rather than the cold opening they decided on.

And I'm all out of bubblegum.
I'm going to watch episode two just for you, Nimic.
Every episode was better than the last. Watch the full season or you're dead to me. I mean, I'll still talk to you and stuff, but in my mind I'll be talking to a ghost.

Episode 6 is out tomorrow (tonight, really), and it's supposed to be good. Only two more in the season after that.

Another excellent episode. Do we know if this is going to be an annual thing in terms of seasons?

Watching the last few episodes now. Won't shoo even if i guess i'm a book nerd... or well, tried to.

Was wondering what those who haven't read the books think when the Aes Sedai talk about the colours. Just saw them talk about yellow sisters, etc, and it made me think.
I was quite far into the books before i got an explanation about the colours.

I liked this episode partly because of that. I know nothing of the books again, so getting the little explanation on what the seat is, and yellow = doctors/nurses, blue =spies and intelligence gathering, I guess. Still don't really know what the white team does judging by the colors in the meetings. There is a lot to dig into with just the inner intrigue in the tower and the history and backstory there.

But I get moving the bigger plot forward.

Amazon also releases WOT Shorts titled Wheel of Time Origins - 3 min animated videos - along with the episodes, which dive a little into the lore and also connected with the episode of the week.

They also have short snippets of text describing some things under extras (I believe).

I’ve only watched the first episode and I wasn’t impressed. Does it get better?

feels a bit cheap and there’s some weird filter or film grain or something on it.

It definitely does get better, but it still feels like something I won’t be able to judge until I’m through like a whole season.

You might say that about a lot of shows, but as a non-book reader it holds more weight here. I need a map or something but as soon as I google it I’ll get something spoiled.

It has definitely improved from a rocky start. Some of the little details being added delight me, you can tell there is some real intimate knowledge and care, but at the same time they are making large changes and additions, perhaps inevitable. Loved Moraines clothing in that last episode, instantly recognizable, and also what they did with Siuan and her origin.

At the same time I think some of the world building and thematic stuff has been really, how to put it, fuzzy and poorly established. I am a little surprised they seem to be going with the ending of the first book, which always felt like a compromise false ending in case the series stopped at 1 book. Combining Tar Valon and Cameyln has not helped there.

What was the point of bringing the villagers to Tar Valen if they were going to leave soon afterwards.

The first episode was comfortably the worst.
Agree. I recall reading that the first book is weaker and the story picks up afterwards.

I do not think Moiraine planned for encountering Liandrin and other sisters on the road. I think her plan was to quietly have the villagers brought to Taar Valon and tried to discern with the Amyrlin Seat who the Dragon Reborn is. In any event, Egwene can channel so at least she had to be brought to Tar Valon

The first book follows the LOTR type story and structure its from Book 2 onwards that the story comes into its own.

Just finished watching Ep.7. Wow !

I wasn’t expecting that, it was bloody brilliant. certainly made up for last two sub-standard episodes. Can’t wait for the last one.
