Lee Martin Scores , Sir Alex legacy begins
This bloke has been at United for 2 weeks and already started to remove players power, his comments with regards to Pogba and any other players -
The 63-year-old said he is looking forward to working with Pogba but stated it was not his job - nor that of anyone else at the club - to convince any player of the merits of staying at United.
"Players have to want to stay and play for the club," said Rangnick. Music to my ears - I can see less of these crazy contracts been thrown around to convince players to stay, not to mention obscene
transfer fees being paid, lovely. Certainly got alot of Sir Alex in him.

I'm aboard this train...

“Players have to want to stay and play for this club” If Ole said that a few weeks ago people would be losing their shit. I do like it when he talks about tactics though and I’m dying to see who he adds to the squad. I reckon he came in and told Martial he can leave if he wants. I like this. We need to shake up the fringes big time and create some legitimate pressure on the first team and find players who offer us something different.

If Ole had started to say these things earlier instead of putting two thumbs up for a draw with Everton maybe he would still be in a job. A lot of these players believe they are more important than the club, now they are starting to know their not - Music to my ears.

Way too early for that and although I like what I'm hearing, the implementation of his ideas on the pitch is all that matters.

I really can't wait to see what he does with this squad, but none of this is unique. We see it every time a new manager comes in. Conte was unhappy with overweight players, Gerrard has banned ketchup, Smith used his first session to 'lay down the ground rules,' all within the last few weeks.

Ole in 2019:
I want my team to be the hardest working team in this league. I’m going to be successful here, and there are players here that won’t be part of that successful team.

Ralf should be judged not on what he says, but what he does. So far, it's all looking very promising. Let's hope he keeps it up.

Although he is saying all the rights things with being direct, honest and showing tactical sagacity, I'll wait until the end of the season to board this train, if I witness at least glimpses of his ideas translating on the pitch.

This.

We are always excited when a new manager comes in.

We will subconsciously look for the littlest sliver of positivity and hope --- and usually diametrically opposite or in reaction to the previous manager.

Indeed, what a breath of fresh air eh?
Highlights how poorly we've been run in recent times even more though.
I really hope we don't get involved with any other Riola players in future. Hopefully if Haaland does go to City then the whole Riola sideshow kicks in for them. It will be nice to see.
Although the AOB media probably won't try stirring things because it's not United.

Is that true? The Sun had the headline "Pogba ordered back" but it seemed from his comments he was due back anyway.
As for the train, after hearing his pressers and the Pogba comments, I'm fully on board.

Stupid to recover abroad when a big part of training is theory, analyses of matches etc. The coach can still work a lot with injured players. All that will be missed.

Was it stupid when Fergie did it?

It’s down to what the coach deems the most beneficial.

About time he's been called up for doing feck all and getting paid a shitload for the privelide.

Jobs for the boys is seriously at risk and they hate it.

I hope the N falls of the train and we'll all have an easier time spelling/pronouncing his name.

He's ruthless and telling players that don't want to play for United to piss off? ALL ABOARD!!!! Ha - Ha - Ha....... Ay,

Woodward will send him his P45 if he keeps on like this.

Love it.
The fact John and then Joel were involved in his appointment is hopefully an indication of Ed's decreasing influence on the football side of things. I suspect RR has a cushy position waiting for him should he want to return to his old role, so I don't think he'll take any prisoners, whether from the players or from the club management

Difference is, Pogba gives himself a winter break almost every season in Dubai or elsewhere.

Especially also when international tournaments are coming up.

His history is poor in this regard

Having said that, Rangnick's 63. This will be his legacy project at a few notches higher than the RB role.

Fergie could do what he wanted, as he was United. Everyone knew he ruled and he was there as long as he wanted, not the club.

If you let players do what they want as a newbie, it won't work mid to long term. Ole let them do what they wanted, and this was the result. It is only logical that a new manager would have to stamp it down in a nice way and let everyone know there will be changes and consequences. For now, this is the right approach.

I was going to say you meant "jugular", but I suppose the coaching staff were a circus, so that works too.

As for the train I was all aboard with first news about RR to United. I remember my loud nooooooo, when he was linked with AC Milan.
Only thing I am afraid off is huge amount of our brain dead diva superstars might start to down tools for him. Hey, they have to work now! They are not used to it. And what is worst they have to think. Thinking? Wtf is thinking?

Really don’t care what name the manager has. If you need a specialist that is somewhere else, fine. If it’s just for some nice vacation and weather when recovering, stupid unless the player has mental stress or something that will make him better when away. Don’t know Pogba is in Dubai, but he will have missed several weeks together with the new coach, when has gone through tactics, analyses, etc. Football nowadays is more than just the minutes on grass

Rangnick's saying all the right things, but lets wait until the results actually come. But Im a full optimistic I think he's going to really impact the club overall, I dont sense this is just talk.

Even if not, the approach is the right one long term

It also depends on the situation. If a player is injured who knows what he has to do when he is playing, as both he and the manager are at the club for a few years already it is easy to say "Go and get healthy somewhere sunny", compared to a situation where a manager needs to get every player on board with a new way of playing. Rangnick will do a lot of "theory sessions" with the players (video analysis etc) where it is useful that injured players participate.

When you don't do that it doesn't matter where a player recovers.

Pretty much that. I wonder if CAF forgot about various stuff that different managers said since SAF retired and what they actually achieved on the pitch. Soft and hard approach, tactical approach etc all had been done. We will have to just wait and see again.

Player power hasn't been a problem for us imo.

Agreed. All of our managers get hyped up at the start. Moyes got support, LVG was hailed as the anti-Moyes, Mourinho was praised as a born winner and OGS was a club legend.

If he's able to implement his ideas properly, then I'm all for him staying tbh. The idea of what his football should look like is exactly what I'd want for us, but it's just a question over if he can coach us to a high enough level. Half a season to show it, but I'd far prefer his idea of football than Pochettino's.
