It's abundantly clear that our lethargy and poor passing today was down to this. We knew it was coming. Why are so many shocked by it?

Yeah it’s obvious because we were nothing but endless energy and precision passing before Ralf rocked up.

That's the bloody point? You don't get fitter by doing the same amount of work.

It's clearly going to take a little while to get up to speed

I see the lack of attack as the squad adapting to a RR's pressing tactics, which isn't going to happen overnight.

If it is so clear, why didn't you make this thread before the game? Is it because you're trying to look smarter and more knowledgeable than you are?

I love it when some try to make it out as if they're some sort of football savants and the rest of us are some peasants

Certainly not listening to Jaimie Redknapp’s views on it.

We are just in a weird area. New boss, new system, not much time to train and loads of games no breaks.

Just win baby

I don't feel compelled to state the obvious at every given moment. That's where we differ I suppose. You do you!

Got me there, mate. I am admitting I do not blow smoke up my own arse and trying to claim retrospective credit like some sort of Redcafe John Terry.

What a load of shite of an excuse. This bunch had a week off.
What a pathetic excuse.
It's obviously not acceptable but can you really blame the players for being tired if their new coach asks them to do however much more training during the week than they had been doing under the previous coach? If anything it's an indictment of Ole more than the players

Based on? How many training sessions do you attend?

People on this forum are idiots.

A new manager doesn't fix everything in one week.

Not buying this to be honest. Rested midweek and had a full week to prepare.

I’m fully on board with Ralf but this performance was abysmal by any standard. Let’s have it right.

The concern for me was the lack of effort and zero sign of pressing. We stood off Norwich all game and could not string two passes together, that’s not from training too much.

Only 4 teams had run less than us this season. We've just brought in a manager that asks his players to press for 90 minutes, and is renowned for making huge demands of his players. How do you think we're going to get up to the level the manager requires? Did you think he was going to bring a bag of magic with him?

I’m guessing it’s quite obviously because of the amount of people moaning after the event?

Maguire was offered this as an excuse in the post match interview and didn’t exactly give the impression that training had been any harder or had an impact.

Low intensity training = no energy on game day.

High intensity training = no energy on game day.

Maybe its time for PEDS on game day?

Could have borrowed some inhalers from his student Jurgen.

He quite obviously trying to make us hard to beat first, we've gone from conceding loads of goals, to 1 in 3 during his short reign.

Plus, it's been three weeks, some posters have some seriously unrealistic expectations and I'm guessing a lot of those posters were more than happy to keep Ole here doing less than nothing for 3 years.

It looked like years of not training enough. This was never going to be sorted quickly. You cannot undo bad habits in a couple of weeks.

You only have to look at Klopps first season as an example of how long it takes for a teams fitness levels to improve. It won't happen within weeks. There's also the likelihood that some of our players just aren't up to it and we'll need to bring in some new players. But whatever the case, we're at the start of a long journey to bridge the massive gap between ourselves and the top three, patience is needed.

The most important thing is that we persist with it and don't go in a completely different direction with the next manager.

This is a manager that demands his players press and work their arse off to win the ball back. So what's the reason? Have they already lost faith in him?
