Easy for someone on the internet to say stuff like that . This is what they live for and have spent the last year fighting for. Countless number of days & energy went into that title fight and to have it end like that is obviously not as simple as you think . What they did for 7 years is irrelevant to the conversation
Sorry if you misunderstood what I said…

In my limited experience many of Max's (online) fans come across as the F1 equivalent of United's social media fanbase; uncompromising in their views while some are border-line abusive of anyone who opposes them. On social media I frequently see him labelled as "GOAT" FFS.

You only have to see the official 'Driver of the Day' results each race for evidence of their unquestioning support.
Most Max fans are Dutch and have only got in to F1 recently and haven’t a clue what they’re talking about, ignorance.
The Dutch F1 fans are blinded by their chauvinism. There’s no point arguing with ignorance, just ignore them

Toto needs to stop talking and get on with life. It’s starting to get embarrassing for he and Lewis.

You lost and it wasn’t redbulls fault. Accept it and move on. Pissing and meaning about hard done by you are given the last 7 years of dominance is not a good look.
If the boot was on the other foot and Max was at the wrong end of the decision then we would never hear the end of it…

We are still talking in this day about Maradona's 'Hand of God' from how many years ago now?

Some things don't get forgotten so easily.

Been in role hours and already sounds a dick.

"If there is any breach, there is no forgiveness in this," Ben Sulayem said.

Asked to clarify whether he was saying Hamilton would be penalised for not attending the gala, he said: "Forgiveness is always there. But rules are rules.

(and a PS.. Brazilian Fabiana Ecclestone - wife of former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone - is new vice-president representing South America.)
The corruption continues...

This certainly seems to be the case for some Max fans. Not all, but a significant number.

Youve been bitching and moaning about Hamilton since you joined the Caf. Take your own advice.

At least them I can sort of understand. It's their first WDC winner, I'm sure I'd be proud and happy too.

And the one thing I have to keep reminding myself: It was Masi and FIA who fecked over Hamilton and decided the wdc. Not Max. He took the chances presented to him, something any racer worth their salt would do. I had disliked some of his antics before but it really isn't his fault.

It's the redbull fanboys which I completely detest.

And there's a great deal of english fans that are new to f1 as well because of Lewis and drive to survive. A significant amount who know 3/5's of feck all about motor racing except for what biased english commentators feed to them through sky.

How many times do you hear Brundle almost catch himself because he's not following the sky script? It is starting to get ridiculous and it may explain why he's attending less and less races.

James Allen was horrendous at times, but he'd be perfect for sky commentating.

Stop crying  Lewis had the lead and 3.6 miles to win ….and he lost.

Fair play to Lewis, he took the loss well and we go again next season.

Justice! I take it alonso and Lewis’s relationship is still quite frosty

Don't think it's anything to do with frostiness, all the drivers know Max should have been about 60 points ahead going into Brazil, with all bad luck equalised.

Not sure what’s there to learn from what the other drivers or teams think about Hamilton or Mercedes. Sporting history is full of athletes/teams who win a lot being the most hated ones & everyone wishing for their downfall. United , Patriots, Lakers, Warriors etc all had the rest of their competitors secretly wishing for them to fail

One of those is not like the others but I agree with your general point. Hated, adored but never ignored.

I’m not crying, I think Max is great and brilliant for F1. Nice to see a new F1 champ after all these years. But I want to see proper F1 racing and not some contorted manipulated scene just to please & entertain. It takes off all the gloss & the achievements. If the rules had been followed in the last race no way would Max been champ, just as Max suffered from some dodgy decisions himself (as well as benefiting from some dodgy ones).

I’m not at all criticizing Red Bull or Max. Max is a deserved champion and the decision making has nothing to do with him. More than happy with Max as the Champ, up there with the quickest drivers I’ve ever seen in F1.

That’s ironic after reading what has been said about Hamilton & Mercedes in NL!

If the race had been red flagged as it should have they would have lined up next to each other on fresh tyres with 3 laps to fight it out. Every chance he wins on soft tyres and low fuel.

If the lapped cars had all been allowed to overtake faster then it'd be the same result.

Of course we'll never know. Hamilton was faster off the line on mediums vs Max on softs. We can only speculate what would have happened with both on fresh softs. In my opinion, even in this scenario, Max only wins if Hamilton forgets to turn off the magic button.

Why is everyone bringing up the red flag. You didn't need a red flag to clear the track. Let's not start using "we're nearing the end of the race" excuse to issue red flags.

Also just come back to ask.

Did, as people suggested here, Merc went through with the appeal and won and Hamilton is crowned champion, Masi was shammed Game of thrones stile and Max is sent back to driving school for driving dangerously....

or did Merc backed down because they know they have no basis for actual appeal and Max is a champion while being voted driver of the season by team bosess and Masi is still in his seat?

A red flag wasn’t an option in the circumstances of this incident. Given the time it took to clear the track, the only options were finishing under the safety car or having a last lap race without the lapped cars between Max and Lewis being conveniently cleared out of Max’s way. You can be happy Max won (or Lewis didn’t if that’s your angle) but just accept that outcome only occurred because of a clear break of the rules by Masi.
