Genuinely think he might be able to overtake Rooney's record. Ronaldo lives and breathes records and he will want to go down in history as Man Utd all time top goal scorer. I think he is on 130 goals now and 26 more and he will pass Scholes and break into the top 10. After that, it's just a matter of time if the team has progressed and of course if he stays injury-free.

If we can just stay in the CL for another round, I reckon he can hit 30 in all comps.

He might be able to get to 30/40 for the season which would put him around 150ish this season.

I dont think he has 4 more seasons in him unless we start winning things which means he needs 33 a year for the next 3 full years.

With Ronaldo who knows, if we dont get CL he might leave or he could be here for 5 more years accepting to be a super sup the last few seasons.

Id say its not impossible at this point but top 5 should be doable...

For me a legend is someone who will instantly come to mind for all the good stuff when looking back through history. Ronaldo will be talked about for decades so he has to be a legend.
But whether he is a United legend is open to debate
It feels less like a debate and more like resisting the urge to open up and love because of some previous heartbreak.

Law, Charlton, Best...and Ronaldo. United's only ever Ballon d Or winners while playing for us of course.

Not to mention the incredible season of the League and third Champions League for the club.

Would it really hurt to call Ronaldo a Manchester United legend? Even if you were to rank him lowest of them all.

Think anyone saying otherwise has just been afraid to love a player that left us at the turning of his prime. Now that he's back maybe the heartache and fear can melt away to recognizing one of the clubs most important players in it's history.

Roo’s record is probably safe, but if Ronnie does go on to break it…Jesus Christ will have to sit down and make room for the real God.

He can do it if he stays free of injury. He’s on course for 40 goals or something ridiculous.

I think it’s a little too far and his clock as much as we hate to admit is ticking. He will be 37 soon.

As another poster said if he had come to United instead of Juve he probably would have shattered the record.

Personally don't see him as a united legend the way I would see law, best, Charlton, Cantona, Keane, Robson, giggs or scholes. I would have Rooney above him as well.

He's a great player and I am pleased he is back, but he's a real Madrid legend.

I also don't think he will break the record, he would of had he come here instead of going to juve. Think he will just run out of time, eventually he will slow down... Won't he?!

If he is a united legend is a subjective argument, we only have 3 UCL and he was the MVP in one of them alongside multiple league titles, you can't talk about united history without mentioning him, to me that makes him a united legend.

Of course. That was my opinion you replied to.

He’s the best player to ever play for us. Might not be a fan favourite or done as much for the club, but he’s 100% the greatest player to wear this shirt.
801 goals .. absolutely ridiculous on every level.

Maybe. His absolute peak was elsewhere so I am not sure that is true personally. Unless you count his years at real, which would be a very weird thing to do.

like I said though, I’m not talking about what he did in a United shirt, just the literal greatest player that ever happened to wear the United shirt. I’d say that’s ronaldo.

still he did achieve a lot with us in fairness. Pretty much agreed that it’s either him or Thierry as the best player to ever play in prem

He scores so few hat tricks these days. Miss the times when Messi would do it and then he would do it too.

I just don’t understand how anyone can say Ronaldo is NOT a United legend ? He’s one of only FOUR players to have won World Player Of The Year/Balon D’Or whilst playing for us and was the main man in one of our most successful periods in club history which resulted in one of our 3 European Cup/Champions League wins.

Is Ronaldo on the legendary status level of Charlton, Law, Best, Edwards, Cantona, Robson or Keane ? Probably not but I’d have him over everyone else in the clubs history and it’s only subjective because he’s a bigger legend for Real than he is for us, if Ronaldo manages to get in the top 5 top goal scorers for us I’d rank that as an outrageous achievement on top of his other exploits and cement his legendary status without question.

It's a bizarre form of bitterness and irritation he went onto even bigger things at Madrid.

However , this second spell should reinforce his legend. Especially if he could hit 50 goals or at least equal Van Nistelrooy on 150 or suchlike.

He only won 3 consecutive titles with us. And a champions league, scoring in the final, scoring 42 goals that season, winning the balon d'or, scoring wonder goals or important goals for years, one of the most memorable debuts at the club, a goal and motm performance as a 19 year old in an FA Cup Final. Then returned 12 years after leaving, as a 36 year old, to likely finish as our top scorer again, digging late winners or equalisers out when needed. Hard to claim legend status

Exactly. He won CL for us, and he won Ballon D'or with us, and he won 3 league titles for us too, all as main talisman of the team. This alone would make him United Legend, regardless of whether he is having his best career elsewhere.

But sure, those Charlton, Law, Best, Edwards, Robson, Cantona, Scholes, Giggs, Keane etc are probably bigger legend at the club, in the sense that they gave their all to the club.

If fans consider players like Ole as club legends then Ronaldo absolutely is one as well. Arguably the greatest player to ever play for the club and he's played a part in one of the most successful periods we've ever had during his first spell while winning the 4th Ballon D'Or in club history.

People get hung over the fact he gave another club his best years but that doesn't change what he accomplished prior and what he aims to accomplish in his 2nd spell now.

Ronaldo made a mistake, he should have signed for us instead of Juve.

I think having him back then 4 years ago would have sealed his status at the club beyond doubt and maybe we would be in a better position overall as a club.

I don't think the club wanted him. The Glazers basically approved this only because of his imminent move to City and the situation that would have created.

4 in the last 5 league games, really should have had at least one more.
Going to sound stupid but I’m impressed with his movement today. Maybe a front 2 is the way to go

Not stupid at all. It was there to see in the first goal where he took the step back into space (poor first touch mind but ended up being an assist :D )

He's absolutely fine in his contribution and he'll probably end up with 30 goals for this season.
