Phil Jones is trending worldwide on Twitter.

Says it all about the state of this club.
Says it all about the state of twitter in all honesty.

I almost want phil jones to start tonight just to see the ridiculous reactions to it.

I think it will be Jones & Varane at the back. Would prefer Bailly instead of Jones but Eric picked up a knock against Burnley and not sure if he’s available tonight or not. I reckon there will be a few surprises to the starting lineup tonight with the Caf all going apeshit and crying about it as usual

    Starting XI

    Henderson

    Dalot - Jones - Varane - Shaw

    McTominay - Matic

    Fernandes - Sancho

    Greenwood - Cavani

subs: De Gea, Wan-Bissaka, Telles, Fred, Van De Beek, Lingard, Rashford, Elanga, Ronaldo

Score Prediction: Manchester United 2-0 Wolves

Not a chance Jones starts this, we'd rather play Mctominay at CB i'm sure of that.

Mctominay/Varane/Shaw as a back 3 will be better than playing Jones who hasn't played in over a year.

Agree , if he plays tonight every real Utd fan will get behind him 100%. Through no fault of his own he has been through hell and back with injuries and does not deserve all the ridicule he gets.
Behind him so we win, and for his sake, and also so that a club can be sucked into taking him off our hands before he gets injured again. Absolutely lucked out with his contracts renewals earning more than most prem players.

You just know when an opposition manager speaks about a lack of momentum going into a game against us they'll have the game of their careers.

So how about travelling to Cameroon, who haven’t banned travelling and have a very good grasp (99 daily new cases on the 7 day average!) on the virus?

Certainly sounds safer than the UK is right now to me.
But how safe is it allowing tons of idiot footballers in from all over, risking spreading a very contagious virus for example.

    Unnecessary risk.

in that case all football should be cancelled, because all these “idiot footballers” can’t be trusted not to be carrying a very contagious virus into literally any moment where they’re around each other, for example.

    It’s just an unnecessary risk.

How many U23 games has Jones played in this year, and how has he done with them? It's in his and the club's best interest to get back to a high level and either provide back up or attract a transfer fee. That's without mentioning the human side and empathizing with the hell he must have gone through these last few years.

Why change the team that won 3-1?! Play it again Ralph! Don't try to shoe-horn Bruno in just because he's a big name it would send completely the wrong message to the dressing room if Bruno comes straight back into the team after his suspension when the team without him just won 3-1 and looked balanced for the first time in ages. The flying wingers Sancho and Greenwood are proper United old school. 424 in possession and 442 out of possession getting them to tuck in to stop counter. Solid.

Let Bruno come off the bench to fight for his spot on this team with a point to prove. This is the first time in his Manchester United he has healthy competition for his shirt. And that might motivate him to get back in-form

If Phil Jones starts today, watch him finally score our first set piece goal of the season.

Phil Jones has gone through a tough time with injuries but he has in no way go through "hell". People going through life threatening illnesses and struggling to pay bills go through hell.

Would absolutely love an rendition of “If Jonesy scores, we’re on the pitch,” followed by him bulleting one in off his 50-pence-piece head.

Out of interest, which player in our history has played under the most managers at the club?

If Jones starts/plays today, that would be 7? To my mind, only DDG would have more as he played under Carrick.

This is the sort of comment from the dinosaur ages, like when John Gregory said how can anyone on 20k a year be depressed.

You don't know what he's actually been through, as you're not him.

I don't understand the Phil Jones trolling. He's probably one of the best defensive talents derailed by injuries since Ledley King. If he was playing for Liverpool, sky sports would hail the day as the greatest comeback story since the resurrection of Christ.

    Why are you so angry?
Not angry, just mostly tired and grumpy and frustrated United are in this mess where Phil Jones is likely to be our 2nd only available defender.

Which sums up this club and how bad the Glazers have allowed it to become.

Letting players travel around the world for pointless games is risking covid related issues.

    I stand by this.

Why do you think other countries pro sports leagues like NHL have banned their players from going to the Olympics even though, it's in their playing contracts they can go, which has been ignored.

Risks are high everywhere United are short on defenders and we let one of our better ones go travelling.

Unless we are about to sign a Solid Defender this week, it's gonna be a big mistake.
Why is the african cup pointless? They're no different than the euros.

Premier League's problem to play during the cup!

No he isn't, he wasn't amazing even when he was fit, just better than what we had within the squad of aging players.

Now he is one of two potentially semi fit defenders for a game tonight.

    It's embarrassing.

Ralf Rangnick very clearly accepted that we played better in the Burnley game because everyone played in the position of their strength and if he is a bold manager, he will probably drop Bruno for one more game and play the same 11. Sancho must start and there is there is no doubt about that. If he doesn't, I for one will be really pissed. Can't wait for Jones to have a run out. Regardless of everything that has happened to him, he has always given his everything on the pitch for the badge and deserves to play. I'm sure he will enjoy and do everything to shut Adama Troare out. We need a streak and must win to keep it going and get back to the Top4. Now that Chelski are losing points as well, we may as well put some pressure on them.

I think one of these 2:

    --------De Gea----------

    Bissaka.Varane.Matic.Shaw

    ........McTominay.Fred...........
    .......Bruno.......Sancho........
    ........Ronaldo.Rashford.......

    ............De Gea...........

    Bissaka.Varane.Shaw.Telles

    ..........McTominay.Fred............

    ........Bruno..........Sancho..........
    ..........Ronaldo.Rashford..........

I think it is too risky to play with Jones as a central defender, since he has not played for 2 years. And I think our midfield will be too weak without McTominay.
