Hope he plays. There are plenty of starting. I players who need someone to show them proper attitude and spirit on the pitch and if nothing else, Jones will bring that.

Get him on the pitch. It's not like we're challenging for anything big this season and Maguire's form is a disaster itself. Shouldn't feel much of a bigger difference.

If he won't make it past 30 minutes then Ralf perhaps will be the first United manager to say enough is enough and start making decisions like every manager in a big club should do.
Unless they are prepared to give him a free transfer, nobody is gonna stump up coins after that injury without proof of fitness first

Yup. That's why at some point he needs to play so key data could be gathered what to do next. All we know he was training with the first team from quite a while and there was no sign of bigger training injury that could send him on another two month break from football.

Just wanted to check that you weren’t insinuating that we sack him from his contract like some idiots previously in this thread.

Don't think Sir Alex, Ole and some members of the board would like that way of dealing anyway, but at some point we need to promote new players to the squad and it's still cluttered with so many with unclear future.

There has to be clarity in the way United wants to refresh things for the better.

People who want to sack a player who brings nothing are idiots? We might as well bring back Nani, Rafael, Welbeck, Smalling, to help them later in their careers with their injury problems, they were far better players than him anyway.

Say what you will about his quality, if our player showed half his determination we wouldn't be in this mess.

Paddy says it's on!

Never a dull moment with Phil.
He could have the game of the century, he could score an OG, he could injure himself with a head tackle.

Most entertaining player of the century.

Really pleased for Phil and hope he has he a great game. He fully deserves it.

Also weirdly feel more confident he is playing and not Maguire

I hate this football club sometimes, the fact that this guy is even here to still start and some people are happy that he's still here? Absolutely blows my mind how far this club has fallen, all we've got are multiple passengers stealing a wage from us that could be used on players that will actually play and help us.

Hopefully has a great game but honestly can just see him getting injured again unfortunately

Varane wouldn’t even have imagined in his wildest dreams that he will one day get the opportunity to partner with Sir Phil Jones in the defence.

Jones - Varane, CB pair that should have played 10 years ago.

We are the only top club that would persist with him.
This club seriously needs to start living in reality again if they want to start winning major trophies.

Having a work related injury doesn't make you a "passenger stealing a wage".

That's why footballers sign long term contracts. For job security.

If you hate this club piss off to one you do like.

Bullocks. Chelsea had Van Ginkel on the books for years when he had 3 knee surgeries. You know why? Because he was given a contract when he was still fit. Injuries happen. Google "contract".

With no other CBs on the bench, at least he's come in handy

Now watch him replace Maguire :D

Joking aside, I wish him well. I really hope he can revive his career.
