I genuinely think Rangknick has his hands tied over Ronaldo's game time.
In what sense? He sure knows how to talk a big game but the lack of common sense in his squad selection in terms of lack of complementing profiles suggest he’s as good as his CV suggests. Which isn’t great.

I genuinely don't understand why Cavani shot. Isn't he supposed to be an experienced player? It's beyond stupid the kind of mistake you expect from a 16 year old.

Utd match stats are appalling …lucky to be level

    WTF is going on ?
This box system reveals the paired up players for much of the game. It's too easy for the opposition to be disruptive

Most of the stats are almost even except for shots on goal, but that's usually the difference in a match. If things don't change at the start of the 2nd half, we will lose.

Most interesting thing about the last hour: GTA V is still getting new DLC.

A dreadful half. Forward passing non-existent. Composure in attack badly lacking. No press, besides the odd Ronaldo effort, we look lost. Chuck Bruno on and see if he can magic up some chances.

You can't really fault Jones or Varane so you have to look elsewhere why they've had so many shots

We can't keep letting teams like Newcastle and Wolves dictate the tempo against us

He came in to fix those things didn’t he?

I’m not saying he has to go yet of course but I don’t think we’ve made any remote progress.
When your midfield is an issue, how do you fix it? Mcfred do not know how to pass 5 yards properly on a consistent basis. Your rb and lb cannot make decent runs or cross the ball. Ralf is a technician not a school League coach teaching how to pass to 5 year old kids.

We have pathetic players who need to go. It's most of the team which is infuriating as a lot of money has been spent on buying these duds.

Ten Hag wouldn't fix this team either, he'd still have the same problems adapting this team to his style of play. The problem is we have a completely spoiled, overrated group of players. We need another rebuild unfortunately. Conte probably would have gotten the best out of this team in the short term, but I hope this highlights to the board that we need a clean slate of players to build from.
    absolute rubbish.

he wouldn’t play a formation that clearly doesn’t suit the team to begin with.

442 or 4222 or whatever you want to call jusdt makes our midfield worse and our forwards limp
    what the feck is this

Honestly it's games like this that really get me wondering what the problem is at the club. It has to be something deep set into the club itself that makes everyone we sign eventually arrive at a state of being virtually unable to show any urgency, compare, aggression or creativity at all. That unknown quantity that makes our central players receive a ball, stand completely still, look around and then decide to amble aimlessly forwards until they come up against opposition players, panic and either jog directly into them, turn and pass backwards or randomly pass to a space where it reaches an opposition player as often as their own.

It very much feels like there's got to be a reason this happens. Feels like it we had any other group of players the new manager would have begun stamping his philosophy onto them and we would at least be showing signs but with the lackadaisical style of our players it doesn't seem possible. I fully expect that whoever comes in as full time manager things won't change and whoever we sign will just join the hive mind and slowly become like the others. What is the answer?

Difficult to put your finger on what it is. No confidence? Poor attitude? It’s obviously a talented team which only serves to magnify just how dysfunctional it is.

The absolute basics that even teams trying to stay in the league have, are missing.

I can take being out of possession and the opposition playing good football. What I can’t accept is being in possession and repeatedly giving the ball away with either poor choice of pass or woefully executed pass. It beggars belief

Yet another half marred by the same issues we've seen all too often recently. Poor on the ball, and poor out of it. A lot was made of Jones starting before the start of the game, but it's the midfield and attack that's the problem here. Poor passing, no control of the game and no real evidence of a plan to win the ball back.
We need to sign a better midfielder this month. I’m we won’t though. Kessie is out of contract in the summer, sign him up!

442, 4231, 433, 532 does it really matter if no one can pass a ball? The formation may not help, but we should look way better either way

He literally put the only two crosses into the box we had all half.

One misplaced cross field pass aside he hasn’t been that bad. Compared to the others anyway.
    Woeful.

The two crosses were hit and hope. Can't even call them crosses....

And the misplaced pass was a perfect counterattack.
Lucky for us Wolves can't score.

Defensively out of form. Podence was always free.

Horrible performance. Id bench him at HT.

Yeah that’s shocking. A formation issue and a selection issue.
    Find a pass midfield.

Sancho pisses me off, all those years watching Giggs and Beckham get up and down the wings, start attacks from deep, and do it in the final 3rd and so many of these modern wide forwards only want to play in the final 3rd.

Yeah, some very worrying signs. I seriously doubt any top manager would play Cavani and Ronaldo in their prime in 442 as two forwards, let alone when they are far past their best.

We need to put an extra player in the middle, try with 3 cause 2 never control the game for us whoever they are. Ralf talks a lot about controlling a game but not doing much to accomplish it so far.

Has to be cursed. Only reasonable explanation
He's fecking shit that's why! For god's sake. You guys need to stop going on about Van De Beek. He's been absolutely awful. He's had one good half since he's joined. fecking hell. He's a fecking flop and isn't being picked for a reason.

We're being outnumbered and neither Ronaldo nor Cavani are creative forwards, or people who can drop into midfield and make things happen. One of them needs to go off I feel

Our build it play goes one of three ways:

    1. Poor control so we’re dispossessed
    2. Control is ok, poor pass so we lose the ball
    3. Control is ok, passing makes it into a good position, brainfart donkey decision ends the move
